5 out of 5 eggsMore than 5 eggs so far

Pros: 7-ch Analog Out
Dual Core
Dolby Digital re-encoding
Low latency re-encoding
Blu Rays load pretty quickly

I bought the player for its 7ch analog out hoping to make my old receiver which only supports dolby digital last a bit longer. I got the analog all hooked up and working and was more than pleasantly surprised to find in the audio options a setting that will re-encode audio to Dolby Digital on the S/PDIF output. It works great with very low latency.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I still haven't taken the time to figure out how to add apps to My Apps. I figured out how to remove them, but was hoping to add Netflix, VUDU, and AMZN Instant into My Apps. It's a minor annoyance and it's probably possible, but it wasn't obvious on the first pass.

So far I'm very happy with it. As long as it keeps working, I'll be satisfied.

Newegg shipped it in the original box which was damaged somewhat in shipping and the styrofoam in the box was broken, but the player appeared undamaged. It seems ok after a couple days of use here, but I bought the extended warranty just in case (something I never do, but didn't want it to die at 31 days or something), so I'm a bit miffed with that, but the packaging appears to have sacrificed itself to save the player. I just hope it doesn't have any premature failure from rough handling. Still, not a ding against the player itself.

Newegg also refused to let me submit this review because it included the word for AMZN, despite it being relevant to the review as the name of an app.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the Price

Pros: Features
Performance

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I chose this over other Samsung models because those had top-mounted controls, impractical for stacked components; the front-mounted controls are on a bezel which allows operating from above anyway.

Another selling point is its 4K capability.

I had a chance to compare this with an entry level, other-brand, BD player that I was testing before it went into my motorhome, and the upscaling performance was noteworthy (the other unit doesn't feature it, and with a 720p TV in the coach, it's not needed).

Ethernet connectivity is a big plus, as I've not yet figured how to make the Samsung UN60F8000BFXZA play well hard-wired (wi-fi is fine), and the BD-F7500/Z bridges the gap.

A much-appreciated feature is the "Tools" menu which I've used on occasion to pull up features in a BD that aren't available from its own menu. Notably, it's pulled up captioning and some other hidden configurations.

While priced substantially higher than other units, I think it's worth the difference.

5 out of 5 eggsFlagship performance & price

Pros: This machine offers excellent 4K upscaling. It makes regular (1080P) looks so much better on my 4K TV. It also offers excellent sound & picture quality on both blu ray discs and apps such as Netflix. It also converts Netflix's 1080p contents to 4k if you want it too. Also, besides PS3, this is one of the very few devices in the market that can receive Netflix's 3D content.

Cons: Occasionally Netflix crashes and need to restart the machine.

Other Thoughts: If you do not need netflix 3D contents, the next lower model (6700), which I also own, offers great 4K and sound quality as well. Both 7500 & 6700 from Samsung are WONDERFUL machines that offer excellent 4K upscaling and everything else.

5 out of 5 eggsReally 1.5 HDMI outputs, not 2

Pros: Great machine - lots of features, loads discs quickly.

Cons: Cons aren't with the machine, but rather how the machine is represented. Apparently, how all double HDMI output machines are represented. One of the HDMI outputs is audio only, which is not detailed anywhere in the specifications.

Other Thoughts: I'm giving this machine 5 stars because it does what it was built to do in magnificent fashion. I have problems with the specification listing, which states 2 HDMI outputs. Now that I have received the machine and discovered that one of those outputs is audio only, I've done more research on that "feature," and I'm finding that evidently that's how all dual-output blu-rays are designed. That sort of research shouldn't be required to understand the specification list for this (or any other) product.

Instead of "HDMI Ouput: 2" it should say "HDMI Output: 1 video and audio, 1 audio." Simple, descriptive, more accurate, and more helpful for those of us who quite understandably thought we were buying a machine with two full outputs. I don't like splitting the signal with a discrete box, and I bought this unit for only one reason: I thought I was eliminating my splitter box.

Now I have to decide if I want to go through all the hassle of returning it. It's a nice unit - an upgrade from what I had - but I don't need it, and it is actually less capable in outputs, since it doesn't even have a composite video out. I was all set to blame Newegg for the representation, until I did some looking around and discovered this flaw in how the specification is stated is apparently universal. Pretty ridiculous to have to learn this by spending two hundred dollars.

So, yes, at this point I'm just griping about an apparent industry standard that even a generally tech-savvy consumer such as myself has no way of knowing prior to purchase and discovery. Sure, I could have done this research before I bought the unit, but why would I? I was not making any assumptions; I needed two HDMI outputs and this machine says it has them. Pretty simple stuff.

So, in the event that anyone else reading this is in that boat, this is your notification. Two HDMI outputs really means 1.5 outputs. One with video and audio, and one with audio only. Act accordingly. If you're already aware of that, this player will do everything wonderfully. I like it a lot, for what it's built to do. It just isn't built to do what I need, or what the spec list says it does.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good product

Pros: Small, works well, easy to setup, enhances older videos to almost Blu-ray. The controller works well for both the player and my Samsung TV. Its a Samsung (I have only had 1 Samsung product in the last 15 years that did not work well). New Egg did a excellent job of getting to me quickly. I always appreciate their good service.

Cons: I bought it before the sale so I paid over $200 for it but it has been well worth the money I paid.

Other Thoughts: Overall Samsung makes a very good product.
