5 out of 5 eggsSolid little player

Pros: Great little Blu-Ray player, especially for the price! I only needed a BD player, so I can't speak to the other options (ease of networking, Netflix, YouTube, etc.).

So far, I haven't noticed one issue. Discs load really fast, and there have been zero playback problems.

Cons: Can't really think of any. The footprint is very small, but I can't say that that is really a "con." The touch buttons are on the top of the unit; hard to see if it's in an entertainment center/rack.

4 out of 5 eggsmy error

Pros: price, ease of use, functions well, good video

Cons: flimsy build quality....very breakable disc carriage tray....set top "buttons" really really hard to identify and use so don't ever misplace the remote

Other Thoughts: my earlier review of this product last week was in error. It wasn't the disc player that failed, rather it was the 4 year old 32 inch Samsung LCD TV that finally quit working. The player functioned as before after I replaced the TV with a new one.

3 out of 5 eggsBasic bluray DVD player, Sm footprint

Pros: Samsung rep, small footprint, stylish rounded edges

Cons: cheap build, feels flimsy, plastic tray is really fragile feeling. Definitely not getting a deal here as its priced just where it should be, in fact, Id price it at $50 and free s/h then youre right where you should be. $60 is actually higher than I think it should cost. Only reason to buy is Samsung's Anynet+ feature (however this only works wirelessly if you use w/Samsung and buy its formerly priced $75 USB wireless dongle) otherwise, you must hard wire a CAT cable to your router and then will get it "internet" feature. If near your router and have throw rugs totally doable, if not, consider this feature useless. Refurbs can cost as low as $50-60 for blu-ray so i think given the bluray feature, its worth the $. Just dont expect some nice, solid build with secure tray. You get what you pay for as granny always said...

Other Thoughts: Panasonic, LG both good brands and probably better build. Look for "wireless" not just internet connectivity. Read to see if you need to use cable to connect to your router for internet service. Thats ok for firmware upgrades but a pita for perm use to connect to the new and your Netflix, HULU+, Pandora accts. Consider a ROKU or better yet, grab ASUS's newest offerings which plug into TV and you can grab your streamed media progs wirelessly and with a teeny tiny footprint. Many of the DVD players are now legacy and probably will be so very soon. Read: Smart TVs and Chromecast dongles for $35, ROKU refurb equip for $40, etc. Why buy DVDs anymore when you can download and own cheaper and stow on UV acct? You can then watch on your tablets, smartphones and/or TVs. Seriously, dvd players are quickly going the way of the VCR. We'll keep them because we have a collection of DVDs just as we kept the VCR because we had a collection of collectible Disney VHS tapes. After a while however, we let the kids play with them in their bdrms w/their pals and they get trashed and then end up thrown in to the trash. Maybe, grandparents will save for use with little ones and quality time over popcorn and home made cookies, hey, we can dream cant we? :)

1 out of 5 eggsbroken

Pros: cheap price

Cons: This unit broke down just 7 days past the 30 day return limit. The video failed. There is still something of a picture but noisey, snowy, mostly streaky red screens....totally unwatchable. Software upgrade to latest version did not help. Also the build quality is poor, especially the sliding disc rack which feels especially fragile. I cannot recommend this item and I would not buy again.

Other Thoughts: I like Samsung....this is the first product from them that is a real bummer

4 out of 5 eggsDoes NOT have Wifi

Pros: I can't comment on pros or cons, as I am returning this without having used it.

Cons: No wifi?

Other Thoughts: I just want to post to let people know to ignore the reviewer that comments on how easily this unit connected to his Wifi. This unit does NOT have wifi capabilities.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pricing is excellent. Blu-Ray playback looks good. Boot up is a little slow but there is a menu option to help speed it up and it does work. Nice to include some standard apps for youtube, netflix, etc.

Cons: My unit would not play DVDs at all. all other supported formats play fine. All DVDs tried would just click a couple times, eject and error on screen. Does not support a few of the DVD recordable formats that a higher end player supports. Cinavia, enough said.

Other Thoughts: For the price, this is a great buy, so purchase one for every TV in your home. Not supporting some recordable formats and using Cinavia has some drawbacks. If my unit would play DVDs then i wouldnt have to return it. Still great NewEgg shipping and support, even if something i want to order is $5 or so cheaper somewhere else i will still choose NewEgg, they have earned my trust, respect and tens of thousands of dollars i have spent with them over the years.

5 out of 5 eggsbest entry-level blu-ray player!

Pros: easy set-up, quick response, easy to update software and browse youtube. I don't play DVDs or Blu-Rays much so this is perfect for a first-time player or a spare.

Cons: doesn't come with any cables but you can get nice HD cables for $4 separately.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, Really Pleased

Pros: I've been very pleased with this player. I was inexpensive and the first blue ray player I've bought. So far it has worked really well with no issues. It is very slim and sleek looking. Also it plays regular DVDs which I wasn't really expecting.

Cons: I've had problems getting the streaming video to work on the network but I've not really put much effort into it so I may just be me.

Other Thoughts: I don't know what other more expensive units have to offer but I've been very happy so far with this one.

2 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed

Pros: Good price, easy to use.

Cons: There is a serious issue with this Blu Ray player that I cannot resolve. When they are talking, the volume is extremely low. And when there is action, it is blazing lay loud. I keep having to turn my TV volume up and down to accommodate. Also I have not figured out yet how to turn off the player and resume playback where I left off, if it even has such a feature. Disappointed.
