Your wait is over!
- Pros: Setup was easy -- Install software, plugin AC power cord and USB cable, and start software. Follow the instructions in the enclosed manual! Manual was okay (see cons). One of my main objectives was to digitize my old 78 RPM albums. I found a manual on-line (at Ion website, I believe) that gave EXCELLENT step-by-step instructions for using Audacity software 78 RPM conversion!! If you need to digitize your old vinyl (with all the inherent burps, bumps, and cracks!), this product is the way to go. Great tool for the money!
- Cons: The manual that came with the turntable kept referring to the "Play" button. Where the h&$% is the Play" button??? It is not the "Play" button, they are referring to the "Cue" button!!! Moving the arm toward the record starts the turntable. Depressing the Cue button LOWERS THE ARM and begins "Play"! One more thing... if you get no sound during play, check the items listed in the back of the manual. I checked them FIVE times! If those items don't fix the problem, take the shield off of the cartridge!!! Duh!! (That's why the needle wasn't moving even though it was 'down'.)
- Other Thoughts: I'm pleased... now does someone want to come to my place and manually record all 2000 of my 45's and 300 albums?!? lol Happy Holidays!
No very happy
- Pros: Hey! "No very happy"1 It's plastic, but that doesn't make it cheap! What makes it cheap is NOT Understanding what you read on the ION website. The cables and the Turntable aren't shielded, as MOST ALL cables are not! Rout your cables and the turntable to another side of your table for usage and purchase a "cheap' IOGEAR USB 2 Female connector which can be routed out of the way (strategically) of all other wires/cables so you have ")" distortion or "HUMMMM"- interference from the rest of what is most likely a nest of wires/cables. If you would use "hook-n-loop" wire/cable wraps for your feed and AC/DC components, you would have HI-FI audio sound, extremely clear monitor imaging, cooler transformers at your UPS/APC, you would be able to fish lines easily and alot of other issues would disappear, which I'm sure you have been experiencing.
- Cons: well, you wouldn't ba able to complain about a product it seems you read about before you purchased it- by sounds of your- quote-"when I unplug the phono plugs, I get occasional distortion that seems worse if the phono plug gets anywhere near a power code - this issue is well documented at the ION web site and ION seems unresponsive". Not true... call them back and tell them what you are using as a connection, is it new, clean, heavier guage, and does the usb run right through the rest of your cabling, as all others do....
- Other Thoughts: Rate your knowledge correctly before you leave any feedback on a product you inquired about through the Manuf. before you purchased it from NEWEGG... these folks are most likely your only hope, still- and I bet you will be buying from them here, soon. Don't try to sway others from making a purchase on an item you did, but cannot get past your forehead to get it to work "For" you, let alone, for the future buyers.

VINYL on MP3 = AWESOME
- Pros: Can convert any record I have into an MP3 and what more do you want then that? It took a little getting used to when it came to playing with the program on the computer but totally worth it. Now I can bop around like all the cool kids in my car with my MP3 player but playing GOOD MUSIC!!!! I also like the fact that the vinyl sound is there makes it more authenitc. Then again if your Vinyl is in good shape the vinyl sound is not that noticeable.
- Cons: The only complaint I have is that there is no actual pause button on the program when you are converting just one vinyl track off a whole LP. You should be able to have a pause button or something on the program. But thats a small complaint you get over it once you realize how great this product is.
- Other Thoughts: When I saw this offered online I was both excited and skepitcal. After reading many REVIEWS both positive and negative I thought I would Give it a whirl. or spin if you will. I also hooked it up to my stereo and the sound was excellent considering some of the records I played belonged to my Grandfather. My Grandmother also got a great kick out of listening to all the "oldies" again!
Gets the Job Done
- Pros: Very easy to use/ setup. Includes all necessary cables.
Nice output to my stereo via componet cables. Decent quality recordings. Worthwhile, but not "archival" quality or something like that.
- Cons: The sound quality needs to be a little bit better for such a high price.
It has automatic song recognition via Gracenote which sweet, but it takes a long time, sometimes is wrong, and cannot be disabled.
- Other Thoughts: Nice, pain free way to record some vinyl.
At this price consider just buying the songs you like on your vinyl (which will be a higher quality.)
Overall, I like it.
Happy with product
- Pros: Does everything it says it would!
- Cons: I should have brought a hard drive I have a lot of albums
