3 out of 5 eggsHD means "Hybrid Digital"

Pros: Three eggs because I do not own on this product.

Cons: It's not really high definition radio.

Other Thoughts: You should be informed that the "HD" in HD Radio means "Hybrid Digital" and not high definition. The digital audio quality is approximately that of a high quality .mp3 file.

2 out of 5 eggsGood Sound - Poor Quality

Pros: I am a sound contractor. I install sound systems into schools and government facilities.

Sound is excellent, as advertised: CD quality. Reception good. Overall fit and finish good. Easy to set up and use. A nice, realtively inexpensive way to add HD radio to your system.

Cons: Poor manufacturing/distribution quality control. I have purchased Seven of these units from a variety of sources. I had to return 5 of the 7 because something was not working or broken when I first took the unit out of the box. When they work, they work great.

Other Thoughts: Of all of the sources that I had to return this unit to, Newegg was the easiest, extremely hassle free

3 out of 5 eggsReception not as good as my receiver

Pros: Good sound quality without the static when you can tune in to a HD Radio station

Cons: Worse reception than my cheap Yamaha receiver. I can pull in some AM FM stations in the basement using the receiver, but not the Sangean Tuner. All I get is static. I finally have to install it on first floor bedroom, where reception is good enough to pull in AM/FM/HD.

Other Thoughts: Unless you have good reception already, or plan to get a FM antenna upgrade, don't buy this. It's not as sensitive as a cheap radio.

2 out of 5 eggsNOT Acceptable

Pros: Reception is good

Cons: Not as Advertised. One-half of the Twenty Presets to not function. When I researched the radio everything I found said it had 20 FM Presents (two bands of 10) but when I received the radio only half worked.

Other Thoughts: I have not had an answer from Sangean on this but their website NOW STATES ..."PRESETS CURRENTLY UNDISCLOSED" ... Guess we know what that means

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING!!!!!!!!

Pros: Most amazing sound I have ever heard from a radio tuner. I added this one to my master bedroom and bathroom and I was so impressed I just oredered another one for my Denon 5803 in my family room. Chrystal clear reception, easy to operate and multi-tasking. What a HD tuner. I rate this 5 star and I am in to hi-tech HD equipment. My suggestion is buy it before the word get's out and they sell out. My wife and I love it. For 4 straight hours we communicated and listened to HD radio.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Different color display istead of blue would have been nice.

5 out of 5 eggsGlad I made the jump to HDR

Pros: I've been watching this product for a while. The $ 40.00 rebate got me off the fence. I live in a FM reception is a chronic problem. I've been wedded with to classic Marantz tuner for decades. This HD unit is nowhere near as cool looking as my Marantz but radio is not a visual medium...THIS PACKAGE DELIVERS THE GOODS, I get 2-3X as many stations and the reception is better in every way than my previous tuner.

Cons: None, though I have read some by others. That helped me wait and save $ 40.00

I have read the negative comments about the "cheap" look ad feel of this unit....fah getta bout it!
Do you want to listen to your radio or sit and look at. The face of the remote is bright blue.

Other Thoughts: Anyone want a beautiful Marantz Stereophonic FM Tuner Model 125?

5 out of 5 eggsAWSOME

Pros: Beats shuffling cd's around for the same sound quality. HD radio is great. I put it on my favorite fm station and listen away to the high quality of a cd or dvd. Very good component product for my yahama amp. Will buy again in a few years when this one quits. One item for the music lover that you cannot be without once you own hd radio.

Cons: Kind of pricey. But, what is 200 bucks when you have a huge home theater/entertainment center.

Other Thoughts: thanx newegg, had 3 day shipping and received in 2 days.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Inexpensive add-on tuner to give HD radio (and AM/FM) to any component audio system. Have it hooked up to my Adcom Pre-Amp/Power Amp combo, and sound quality is adequate and tuning capability is good on HD stations, but not as good as my standalone Adcom or Yamaha tuners for non-HD. Works as advertised.

Cons: Cheap overall look and feel. Display does not match other audio gear. Sometimes drifts back and forth between FM and HD for the same channel, usually with some delay between the two. Semi-volatile memory for clock and most recent settings when powered off externally. Cheap feel to "credit card" remote.

Other Thoughts: Wish it had coaxial or Toslink out to mate up with an outboard DA converter. Waiting for the Rotel or some other high end unit to become available. Until then hard to beat.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Technology

Pros: This is a great receiver. I was not able to receive NPR where I live without any interferences. I can't believe how good now the reception and the sound quality is. Sound quality is much better than I expected. I was reading a lot of negative reviews about HD Radio. To put in in perspective - quality is much better than sattelite radio and normal FM reception.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: A digital output would have been nice, display is o.k.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Product

Pros: Absolutely stunning sound. Easy set up. Nearly, if not all the stations I regularly listen to also broadcast in HD.

Sounds as good as a CD. Displays the station call letters, artist and song title. Truly amazing. NO hiss at all between songs even with my ear against the speaker.

Cons: Not one. Wish the display was a different color blue. Kind of cheapens it in a way.

Other Thoughts: I had no idea how many Hi-Def FM channels are really out there. I live about 20 miles West of Chicago.

I've owned some of the highest end tuners over the years and nothing can compare to this.

Haven't tried the AM yet. Don't know why I would.

Now I want a HD tuner for my car.
