overall a good Internet radio
This review is from: Sangean Internet Radio/Network Music Player/FM-RDS (RBDS) Digital Radio WFR-1
Pros: The sound from the stereo speakers is rich and powerful. The feature to play MP3s off a network share works well. Its exterior appearance is very classy. The available radio stations are indexed by Frontier Silicon, and they do a reasonably good job of maintaining a list of working radio stations. If a station you like is not in their index, you can add it manually on the Frontier Silicon web site. It has an audio-in jack, so you could use it as your computer's speakers, or connect your MP3 player. It also has an audio-out jack if you want to connect this to your stereo system.
Cons: The unit is not compatible with Pandora, but this *MAY* be addressed by a future firmware update. In the meanwhile I can always listen to Pandora on my PC. I had a problem with the radio losing Internet connectivity whenever its DHCP lease expired. I fixed this problem by assigning the unit a static IP and a fixed lease on the DHCP server. The radio does not pick up FM HD Radio signals, but that's OK because the HD channels are probably streamed online as well. Besides, who wants to listen to commercial radio when so many advertising-free stations are available?!
Other Thoughts: Overall a fine radio, but I wish I had read the fine print better to ascertain whether it is compatible with Pandora.
