5 out of 5 eggsAluratek Juke box

Pros: Fantastic product.
Football games of the University of Mt. Union in Alliance, Ohio can be heard by us here on eastern Long Island! Great!
Wonderful access to scores of music stations.
We, who are total web-amateurs, are sure enjoying this little thing-a-jig.

Cons: Where are those ads someone is grumbling about?
Can't agree with such a "con" since we have had no such intrusive experience.

Other Thoughts: Thanks to Newegg for offering this wondrous device.

4 out of 5 eggsSubtle concept

Pros: Once the program is up and streaming audio it works fine. After you've figured out how to set favorites, which get programmed into the Jukebox's flash memory, you can pull it out and use it on any other machine and your favorites are all there. Kind of nifty.

Cons: Hangs up for a long time if you attempt to connect to a station that isn't up. Have to killl the program sometimes. It was a little hard to figure out how to make a sation a favorite.

Other Thoughts: The Jukebox is an interesting device in that it contains the program in firmware. A subtle side-effect of this is that you are not using a web browser to access the station. That means you can kill all your web browser windows and the station is still active. I'm always killing all my web browsers and will forget to leave the one open that's streaming music, which of course kills the music, then I have to re-open a browser window and navigate back to the station website I was listening to.

5 out of 5 eggsCool Little Gizmo

Pros: I had it up and running in about 3 minutes. Most of that time was spent reading the license agreement. They allow you to request the URL of a station you like/know of and I guess they add it ! Pleased with New Egg's shipping time - better than expected service for FREE ! Thanks

Cons: None that I've found as of yet.. I hope I don't have to find out if my review is editable or deletable...

Other Thoughts: I am really excited about this gadget ! I am sure all this
can be gotten free over the internet, but with time being limited it's nice to have all this access right at your
fingertips. I'm hoping I can figure out how to stream this
through my wireless OmniFi DMS.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad!

Pros: It is basically a facilitator of some sort. I couldn't really associate the boombox, etc concepts with the produc. However, it is definitely a usefull interface. I hate going around looking for say jazz radio stations, and downloading this and that afterwards. So mostly I and up listening my own files instead. In that sense this is a tie-braker, a usefull product. I use it and still like it.

Cons: It is true, it does not pick up many radios, but probably that is an issue related to the internet service, sites, etc.. I'll let the techies decide on that.
Also, I am disappointed that it only readily allows what they call the `top ten!` Well, I like to see the say top 50 or even more on a query of some sort. So I can pick what I really want! I am sure the company can get over that restriction as well, if they try hard enough.
Given these a few shortcomings, price is still a little high I think

Other Thoughts: Another customer was complaining about forced ads! I am curious now, where are they really?? I don't see anything other than the small box below with two fixed promos of Aluratek!? I don't look at the interface all the time, so no problem!..
I also have an annoying `runtime debug` warning everytime I change a channel. That is probably an XP issue. I choose No and get around it every time! `Line 410, Object expected!!!`Oh, well..

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible product with Embedded Advertising

Pros: None

Cons: Server access is slow and uneven - Aluratek crashed my computer the first time. Many times the web channels are slow to load from Aluratek we b server. Comapny fails to mention that YOU ARE REQUIRED TO VIEW SCROLLING ADS FOR THEIR PRODUCTS IN THE WEB WINDOW FOR RADIO STATIONS !!

Other Thoughts: I hate pay for seeing advertising!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Peice

Pros: Very Small, easy to carry with you at all times. It is a simple plug and go self formated drive in the shape of the smalled flash drive. Allows access to MOSTLY any area of the world's radio and news. It's easy enough for a toddler to use, Just plug in and you have access.

Great Bang for the BUCK

Cons: Alot of errors depending on your operating system and the radio station you want to listen to. ALSO some radio stations are only available to the locals.

Don't try to stream record because it wont let you. In many cases you will have to use alternative methods.

Other Thoughts: Note that you only can listen to radio stations who aren't to lazy to become net accessed. Some stations have wierd names that you will not be able to read or understand and others are miss labeled in genre's.

Once again, $30 for world access is a deal any day especially if you enjoy music as much as I do.

5 out of 5 eggsNewegg rocks!

Pros: Forgot to mention this in the last post. I received the product in the three days, as usual. The odd part is, I received the e-mailed Invoice a day later than the product arrived. Now that is quick.

4 out of 5 eggsInternet Radio

Pros: Easy interface. Truly a working "Plug & Play" device as it should be. Fast access to the sites.

Cons: Personal preference, the color scheme sucks, but this is not a down side on the performance of the product. There is a small amount of software that it will ask you to upload to your computer; even though it is small, and really quick, it does warrant a falsely-advertised, no software required; and for this it only gets 4 stars.

Other Thoughts: Works best with USB 2.0, will work on 1.1, just not as good. Not sure yet, but trying to record the stream, similar to the way Ultra-player does; but then again, this product never advertised that you could it for such.
