5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly good speakers

Pros: + Great sound quality (see other thoughts)
+ Correctly sized speakers
+ 2-way design for surrounds and center channel
+ Adjustable mounting kit
+ 5-year warranty

Cons: - Can only adjust speakers left/right with included mounting kit; no up/down without clever rotation of speaker mount on wall or other self-created solution.
- Subwoofer cone is most likely your old-school paper cone, and NOT a newer and more durable composite, as advertised.

Other Thoughts: These speakers are well-designed with high-quality rubber surrounds. The cones on both the tweeters and midrange drivers appear to be constructed of aluminum as advertised, although the midrange drivers could be constructed of some composite material. The speaker housings are high-density plastic and do not appear to be subject to vibration or self-pollution. The subwoofer housing is of MDF covered in vinyl/plastic, and the integrated electronics package allows for several different input and output customization options. Overall, very impressive design and build quality. The only complaint I have about build quality is that the subwoofer cone is NOT a composite material as described, but is clearly your standard paper-type cone. The up-side is that it appears to be very thick paper, and seems to be properly coated with some sort of resilient bonding agent, and it uses the same type of (probably butadyne or santoprene) rubber as the rest of the drivers.

Sound quality coming from a current-generation Pioneer receiver is not quite what I would consider pure audiophile-grade, but for the components in the equation, is simply superb. At its MSRP, this speaker set is by no means the most solid purchase your money could make, but you certainly will not be disappointed. I purchased this set for less than half of MSRP, and can honestly say that this is my fourth and best home theater system I have ever owned.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: System sound is well balanced and fills my 12' x 20' room just fine for enjoying movies in surround sound.

Excellent value at $299 free shipping!!

Cons: None for me, but the box doesn't come with a subwoofer cable or speaker wire. Some people may consider this a con, but installations vary so much by room that including these items at the correct length would be very difficult and likely wasteful.

Other Thoughts: I use these speakers with an older receiver putting out their rated RMS output handling of 100W. My room is 12' deep by 20' wide and I don't desire a larger system for watching movies and TV. The subwoofer is plenty powerful for movie action and the like. If you intend to listen mostly to music in simple stereo at very high volumes, you could be disappointed. The 8" subwoofer is just ok for rap music, but considering the price I couldn't expect any more. I bought the system for $299.99 and free shipping. I feel that this system is an EXCELLENT value at that price point. The list price of $599 is way too high.

I've been a Klipsch fan for years and continue to be one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: These tiny speakers pack a nice punch. I couldn't be any happier with my purchase. My home surround sound system sounds great - I love these speakers!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: These were totally worth it. The small price and clear sound they put out have made me very happy with my purchase. I will definitely buy again, if I move.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Starter

Pros: Good starter kit. Bass is impressive, even in a 400 sq ft room. Gets you going with impressive clarity, so you can start watching movies the way they were meant to be heard.

Music can range from good to lacking. Most classical is amazing. I closed my eyes and was immediately transported to a concert hall. Techno was also good. Defined highs mixed with powerful bass is what that music is all about. Rock...not so much...see cons for more info.

If you can pick this up for cheap, you will be well rewarded.

Cons: I found the system to have very powerful highs and very powerful lows, but almost completely lacking in mid-range punch. The 2.5" woofers just don't push hard enough for a lot of songs in the rock genre. To make matters worse, the sub can't handle a higher crossover frequency to offset the lack of woofer punch.

Other Thoughts: Movies and electronic (techno etc) music sound fantastic on this system. Explosions hit hard, and speech comes across crystal clear. Turn on a rock song, though, and you will be left wondering why you don't even hear notes that hit hard on your car's stock speakers.

I personally ended up getting some bookshelf speakers with 5.25" woofers for moderately cheap. Now music has the proper punch.

In summary, if you purchase this system along with some more beefy bookshelf speakers, you'll be set. You can use the 2 spare Klipsch speakers as "presence" channels, giving you a nice 7.1 setup.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Small System

Pros: Traditional Klipsch top shelf sound and high efficiency. Doesn't require a ton of power to drive them, a good 50-80 watts per channel is plenty
Sub woofer surprised me with how tight and smooth it was for a small 8"er,
integrates well with the satellites.

Cons: Not currently offered at New Egg, Still listed on Klipsch website so maybe the Egg will get more. Otherwise you should be able to find them in stock somewhere else.

5 out of 5 eggsGood sounding system

Pros: 1. High SPL rating:

Less power is needed to get the same loudness compared to a speaker with a lower SPL rating making them more responsive.

2. Looks and size

These are some great looking speakers with a piano black finish and real cloth grills that will blend in with almost any decor. The small size means they will not be intrusive in any way.

3. Sound

The highs are crisp thanks to the aluminum horn tweeter. Mids are natural sounding and clear. Subwoofer is plenty powerful enough for most needs.

Cons: One thing that I didn't like was that the mount has to be attached to the speaker before it can attach to the wall. this means that you have to be careful when mounting these because the speaker will obstruct the view of the screws that you will mound them too. I almost dropped one because the mounting plate didn't line up with the screw on the wall.

The sub has low level inputs and speaker level inputs but no speaker level outputs. I can't really see any use of having speaker level inputs unless you were wiring this sub in parallel with the satellites. Otherwise just stick with the low level sub input.

Other Thoughts: The spring clips. I hear a lot of complaints about the spring clips breaking when trying to insert large speaker wire. These are satellite speakers, not gigantic stadium loudspeakers. 18 gauge wire is fine unless you're placing them 200 Ft. from the receiver, in which case you probably shouldn't be buying satellites in the first place.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent sound for most homes

Pros: Excellent, pitch-perfect sound and clarity that lasts and lasts. It will surprise you how much power Klipsch can pack into a 6" woofer.

Cons: 150Khz crossover range means the subwoofer is doing most of the work. This isn't a bad thing, but means that you should be conscious about where the subwoofer sits, because it's not all bass.

Other Thoughts: I've never, ever been disappointed by Klipsch speakers, and will always buy from them for my audio needs. I'm running my set off an Onkyo receiver that outputs 75W per channel. These babies will do 100W; but I would never think to upgrade because the sound I get today in my 14 ft x 14 ft living room (and throughout the whole house, it seems) is rich and rewarding enough.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers

Pros: Great sound, Great Bass, Awesome Treble
Overall great buy especially for a home theater setup

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: First 5.1 surround system that I put together myself not too difficult. I paired it with a nice Yamaha receiver which together are a great match.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Arrived in 2 business days, good looking, crisp sound, good base response, easy to set up, just about right for someone who is not an audio/movie-phile. Well designed mounting brackets that allow you to aim the individual speakers left or right, you can even wall mount the center speaker which you can aim up or down.

Cons: Connectors are a little cheap, I replaced a set of Polks where I used 14 gauge wire, the Klipsch HD's were designed for 16 gauge max so the pre-existing wires didn't fit very well.

Other Thoughts: Have to say, I bought them because of price (paid less than half the MSRP) and a decent, not great, online review. I'm happy with them and would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsWay below 36Hz...

Pros: The title says it all. This sub will drop well below 30Hz before a noticeable decrease in volume is perceived...I'd put it at about 27-28 Hz (by ear, using various Bass Mekanik CDs [with test tones, sweeps, etc.])...and that's pretty incredible for an 8" driver in a $250 (on sale) system. Don't expect earth-shattering volume, but if it's quality sound you're after, HD 500 will absolutely not disappoint (it's probably impossible to beat at under $400, when both sound quality and appearance [it's just gorgeous] are considered).

Cons: Nope.

Other Thoughts: Again, Sub 8 will deliver well under 30Hz. That's pretty rare in a "mainstream" 8" sub (despite what manufacturers claim to the contrary). Big smile. :)
