5 out of 5 eggssurround speakers

Pros: Hooked to a Dennon 7.1 and a 200w Yamaha sub these things will scare the heck out of you in a moderately sized room. You can almost feel the bullets going by you. Captain and Commander is amazing. Music is only OK but for surround they rock. Now hooked to a older Sony amp with a CHEEP sub and they still sound amazing in my dad's apartment.

Cons: If you get into to large a space they get a little lost. Need a sub for low tones.

Other Thoughts: After doing lots and lots of research I decided on these and am so glad I did. Made my last surround system the envy of everyone that heard it. Unfortunately didn't work as well in my new house with larger great room. ( 14 ft ceiling and 5-600 sq.ft foot print). Because of size of room and a wife I had to go to in ceiling speakers and while OK I really miss these.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: For the price newegg had them on clearance I couldn't pass them up. The speakers are taller than I expected. The sound is clear and crisp for what they are designed for. At MSRP price I would expect a little more, but definitely better than most the other 500 dollar systems out there, which are twice much as i paid for these.

Cons: Definitely need a sub-woofer with this system. They cannot get low by themselves and even the lower midrange suffers a little bit. I expected the lows not to be there so its not much of a con, but expect to buy a sub as well.

Other Thoughts: Love the speakers overall, once i get a sub-woofer to fill in the lows I am sure I'll be extra happy with my purchase. Sound fills my medium room great and 2 walls are only 1/4 walls, so its really filling a large room well.

Since the speakers wouldn't fit on my stand under or next to my TV I made a bracket for the R and L fronts that mount to the back of my TV to get them up and out of the way of stray little hands, dogs, ect. Made a clean look, the brackets took 30 mins and 13 bucks, made them out of aluminum flatbar and 90 degree angle bar.

3 out of 5 eggsThey are OK, but not great.

Pros: They look great.

Cons: I really like a lot of high end sound from my speakers. These replaced (at least the front L/R channels) a competitors system (Newegg's policy for product reviews says I can't name names) from the year 1991. The old ones sounded better.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's policy on these was a no return policy. I questioned whether I should buy them with that in mind, but I did anyway. It's too bad I could not have heard them first because I probably would not have bought them.

Too bad for me, but at least it did not break my bank.

The review from backwoodsdog was the only early review that was not 5 eggs, but he mentioned he had an older system. I have a Yamaha RX-V663BL, so it is not too old and, as I said, my old speakers from 1991 sounded better.

I also question how so many of the 5 egg reviews are from a while ago and 4 out of the last 5 (recent) reviews are 3 eggs.

3 out of 5 eggsGood BUT not like everyone said

Pros: These speaker are great when watching movies. But not so good for musics listen.

Cons: The mid and high are not as clear like everyone said. During musics listening the sound from these speakers produce is ok but can't compare them to free standing speakers like other reviewer stated. NO.

Other Thoughts: MSRP @$999 but they couldn't include a specification sheet only came with warranty card and that is it. I needed the lowest Hertz on these speakers so I can plug them in my A/V no where on the box nor any papers in the box show it. Thanks for internet.

3 out of 5 eggsThey are what they are

Pros: Sound good.

Cons: Made of cheaper material than I expected.

Other Thoughts: Based on the suggested retail price I expected somewhat better build quality. For the price they are what they are.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat speaker system

Pros: Great sound quality, good looking, not too big, but with big sound. Worth way more than I paid, got them here at newegg on special for 67% off. Did I mention the sound quality is fantastic? Fills my medium sized room with rich, clear sound.

Cons: None than I can think of.

Other Thoughts: This is my first speaker system that was not a home theater in a box. I read reviews for months before deciding on a brand and once I decided on Klipsch it was down to how much money to spend. I decided on a budget of $1,000, and here is my setup:

Klipsch Quintet SL speaker system
Klipsch SW-350 Subwoofer
Denon AVR-1911 HT Receiver
14ga speaker wire

I could not be happier. I waited patiently for each item to go on sale and came in under $1,000.

Also I bought these speakers without listening to them first. I had read that the Klipsch "bright" sound could be fatiguing but I have not found that to be the case. They sound awesome, plain and simple. If you're on the fence, get down. Just buy them.

3 out of 5 eggsWaiting till breakin

Pros: These speakers sounded tin like but they are starting to sound like speakers. If you have a large room they won't sound good, in the bedroom they really kick. After another week I will let you know what they really sound like.

Cons: Does not take a lot of room.

Other Thoughts: They will not sound like towers. I have compared them to my Pinnacles towers and the mids do not hold. The Mirage OS3 FS have a better sound stage. Don't get me wrong these speakers are okay but they will not woo you.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Klipsch's Outstanding Product

Pros: Compact, great design, outstanding sound quality, worth every penny spent!! Got a good deal from Newegg too.

Cons: I wish it had a small subwoofer.

Other Thoughts: I bought Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System for my computer years ago. That was one of the best decisions I'd ever made. Since then, I was checking out Klipsch's first when I need a new sound system!
