4 out of 5 eggsNice little radio

Pros: Had mine for over a year.

Crystal controlled weather receiver. No fiddling with tuner to get a good weather signal, only fiddle with the antenna. Sensitivity is good.

The FM receiver has good AFC action (automatic frequency control). Analog tuning, but easy to lock into an FM station. No annoying images. AM radio is good, too. Internal, directional ferrite antenna.

Batteries or AC.

Cons: Doesn't sound like a hi-fi stereo. But the intelligibility is great for talking heads and weather, the volume is very ample, and it plays background music just fine.

When you switch it to Weather Alert, it quiets the audio while waiting for an alert-tone. But, a tiny amount of audio leaks out of the speaker. When it's extremely quiet in the room, you can hear the radio whispering if you put your ear real close to it.

And then, when there's an alert tone, the audio comes on full blast regardless of what the volume control is set to. Maybe not suitable for apartment dwellers. I guess that's best for Kansas weather where it's worth the heart attack to avoid a tornado, but I'm only in Pennsylvania, so I never use the function.

Also, I sat on the telescoping antenna. Now, it doesn't telescope so well, so be careful.

Need to be a contortionist to squeeze batteries into compartment.

Other Thoughts: I've seen a few reviews over the last year. I think this "inexpensive" little radio is underrated.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth it.

Pros: The replacement worked.

Cons: First one was DOA. This is just a cheap unit, not much good I can say about it, pay more and get a good one.
