3 out of 5 eggsClunky Interface, Reasonable Sound

Pros: Fantastic range of content, very good sound quality. Portability is a plus.

Cons: Interface on the unit itself is very clunky, but the available Android app is fantastic and much easier to use than the "real" remote. I've had a problem getting the unit to maintain a usable WiFi connection.

Lack of an external output is unfortunate, and the requirement to use fresh rechargables is a bit cumbersome.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh, Disappointed

Pros: Attractive and finished to a high degree of quality. There are a large number of presets for a wide variety of Internet stations. Connects wirelessly and supports WPA2 encryption. Reciva website integration makes it easier to add your own stations to your presets. Configurable backlight for display. Physical On/Off switch

Cons: Sound Quality is good but not great and tends to clip on talk stations. Glaring negative which may cause me to return the unit is the lack of support for the AAC V2 standard which many Internet RAdio stations have moved to. Two stations I wanted to listen to and bought the radio for cannot be played by this unit. There may be 20000 stations available but it's pointless if I can't listen to the 2 I'm interested in. Firmware upgrade didn't correct issue either. Controls are counter intuitive and there's lots of scrolling to find what you want. Some functions don't show up unless configured on the website like "my streams" Concerned that if Reciva goes away the unit will be useless. Battery operated but have to use rechargable batteries due to charging action when plugged in. Have to unplug and re-plug unit to update "my streams" Windows sharing not working

Other Thoughts: I bought this to listen to TWIT.AM and some local AM stations who have a poor signal strength in my area. Unfortunately this radio doesn't support the newer AAC-V2 codec that they and other online streaming stations have moved to. It works for the most part but not worth the price considering how limited the functionality is. According to forums Reciva has abandoned many of their Internet tuners by not keeping up with codecs. I likely wouldn't have bought the unit if I'd found the forums.

4 out of 5 eggsPleasantly surprised

Pros: I did not think a small unit of this size could have good audio. I was very wrong. The Audio quality is great!

Had no problems connecting to my Linksys wrt54gl router running WPA2. Getting great wireless signal strength (80~90%).

Interface was simple to use, once I figured out where they placed stuff.

Firmware update process is all automated, made the upgrade process painless.

Cons: The interface is, at times, hard to understand. In order to set Pandora as the alarm sound/radio, you need to have Pandora playing, then setup the alarm, and use the current playing station. That took me a while to figure out.

"Radio off/on" When you turn the radio off, the whole device is still running, and it is still connected to your network, just the audio turns off. I was expecting that "Radio off" would turn the wireless radio off, or the whole device, not the audio radio.

Other Thoughts: Hardware is very similar to a high end router, or low end NAS. Wireless radio is a USB wireless card running a ralink rt2070l chipset. Wireless antenna is part of the PCB(board) on the USB card.

The Android app is really cool! You can take full control of any Grace Audio device on your network with their app. The App is very new and has limited features at this time. A warning on the app; Any loss of network connectivity between your phone and the access point, or the access point to the radio will cause the app to crash.

The software, as a whole, has a very young and unrefined feel. I am looking forward to more mature software/UI/app coming with time.
