1 out of 5 eggsOnly useful in a big city

Pros: As a professional installer, I see many customers who try this model before looking into a proper outdoor antenna. If you live in the heart of a large city, above ground (no basements) where the signal is very strong, it might be satisfactory for you..

Cons: These antennas are not very sensitive. Also, it is difficult to split the signal from the antenna to multiple TVs. If you live in Toronto, this antenna will pick up the CN Tower channels, and maybe one or two Buffalo channels. However, you can easily double the number of channels by installing a decent 4-bay panel antenna instead.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible reception

Pros: It was cheap.

Cons: Does not work. The signal was very weak - picture was impossible to make out for most channels it caught.

Other Thoughts: One of the very few times I will be returning a product. A product has to be truly worthless for me to go through the trouble of sending it back.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks under best case conditions

Pros: - Cheap.
- Gets all local channels and then some.
- Quality for the main channels are either very good, or just a little fuzzy.
- Easy assembly.
- Able to reposition a bit; not extensively.

Cons: - The antenna doesn't snap totally securely to its platform. It's sufficient if you leave it alone, but can easily slide back out while adjusting.
- As the others are saying, the co-ax cable is attached, and is only 3 feet. Factor it in, and get a female-to-male extension if you need to.
- Co-ax cable is a smidge wide and took some muscle to get it into the TV port. Don't be afraid to put some arm into it.

Other Thoughts: I live on a third-floor apartment and 30 miles away from signal towers. Your antenna's performance may differ if you live underground, surrounded by a metal box.

The FCC has a site where you can type in your ZIP code and see what towers are in range of you. USE IT. Who said the Government never gave us anything?

4 out of 5 eggsUHF

Pros: Performance is about the same as the FCC reference antenna in the 470-860MHz band (UHF Channels 14-69). There are no VHF channels in my area. The specs for this antenna suggest it is designed for UHF.

The base design allows multiple arrangements.

Cons: Cable is attached instead of using a standard male connector. Construction of the base is flimsy and weak.

Other Thoughts: A FCC reference antenna looks a lot like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=82-145-017 but does not have the rabbit ears nor amplifier.

5 out of 5 eggsReceives DTV signals during bad storms

Pros: Very sensitive antenna
Long range
High quality
Easily adjustable

Cons: The coax cable could be longer

Other Thoughts: Note: Most TV stations transmit with vertical polarization, meaning for best reception, you should set it up so it's elements are vertical.

Spring 2011, I was stuck at home during a really bad storm. The storm came out of nowhere, going from a mostly cloudy and eerily calm day, to torrential downpour with 90MPH winds in 5 minutes. We cut cable in favor of internet streaming, so I turned on the local news to see what was going on. The storm completely blocked the signal from my old rabbit ear antennas. A tornado ended up jumping over my house. We suffered little damage, but it could've been much worse. I bought this antenna because I needed something that could get a signal when I need it most. This antenna does.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat a piece of junk

Pros: None

Cons: DOESN'T WORK!

Other Thoughts: I sit across from mid-town Manhattan in Jersey City and bought this with the hopes of picking up additional channels on top of the local digital channels I receive with a basic whip antenna. This product touts that it has a 40 mile range, supports HDTV, etc. but what a sad trick. With this piece of junk, I get LESS channels! Half of the channels between 2-13 don't even come in now! What a waste of money. Don't waste yours!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Indoor Antenna I've Seen So Far

Pros: Once aligned and positioned correctly, this antenna was able to tune all local broadcasts. I just put it together (which took about 30 seconds), plugged it in, pointed it at the broadcast towers, and BLAM-O, got all the local channels -- even those pesky VHF stations that were always in-and-out with my previous antennas.

Cons: The antenna's coax cord is very short (about 3'). You may need another cable and a male-to-male adaptor to position it.

I actually still get some occasional blocking/freezing on one VHF station with the antenna sitting on a stereo speaker 3' off the floor. If I hold it about 6' off the floor, the reception is perfect. I should go ahead and mount it to the wall there, but I'm lazy. I'll probably get on it tomorrow.

Other Thoughts: I gave KableTown the heave-ho two years ago in favor of free over-the-air TV. I had tried 3 different antennas (both amplified and non-amplified), and none of these could get all the channels clearly all of the time. I live only 8 miles from the broadcast towers, but I'm told that living in an old masonry house with plaster walls in a wooded neighborhood adversely affects the ability to receive signals.

Now, with this antenna, I don't have to get off the couch and re-adjust it when I change channels!

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Works great out of the box with easy setup. Windows media center picked up the signal without any issues.

Cons: Very short cable included. The cable is actually attached to the unit so you can not add length with adding a male to male adapter at the end of the cable.

Other Thoughts: Some movement of the unit is required to get a better signal. This is common with most that I have used. I just wish that I could find one that I never have to move.
