5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I was expecting okay but this system offers a lot for a budget machine. It looks good-a sense of style without trying too hard. The build quality was much better then expected. A budget machine with decent specs, nice looks and solid quality.

Cons: It does come with a more free software and offers prloaded then I'm interested in.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent All-in-one PC for budget minded people

Pros: Not a huge fan for Vista, I like using XP more. But for Vista runs smoothly with several windows open. Good machine for surfing the web, word perfect stuff.

Cons: Already have to send it back to Acer, froze on me and won't boot at all besides power on and blue power led on. Happened to me once when I first purchased it. But it went back to normal the next day. Now a month or two later it did it again but no luck with it going back to normal. I have several Acer products including a three year old lap top. Which all are still doing wonderful. Just sucks I got a bad egg =/

Other Thoughts: Acer tech support and rma department got back to me with in the same day no hassles so far. Just have to have my girlfirend which this pc was for stick to the lap top till I get this one back. Just hope the next one has no issues.

5 out of 5 eggsI would buy this PC again

Pros: This PC has relativity high specifications for the price. Currently using three for workstations at the company I work for. Two of the three have been running problem free for over a month at the time of this review (10/22/09) the third I'm installing today. I feel this PC would be a great htpc as well.

- Solid Metal Case
- hdmi, eSata, gigabit LAN, Card Reader are all included
- Two PS/2 ports

Cons: Of the three computers there has been two issues.

At the time I purchased them these PCs came with Vista in order to install Xp you have to switch the hard drive from AHCI mode to IDE in the bios.

The Second more difficult problem only occured on the third computer, it would turn on and off then on again every few seconds. After testing and from the suggestion of another review here I was surprised to find that the processor had been improperly seated. After re-seating the processor the computer worked as expected.

- Plastic Front panel has to many breakable panels (none have broken as of yet)
- Computer only has feet to stand vertically if you lay it horizontally it is uneven.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine/Poor Quality Control

Pros: Good specs, small form factor, quiet, great price/performance

Cons: Here's why it only gets 1 egg: Ordered for a client last week. It wouldn't post. Stripped everything down and only got a power cycle with no leds or post. Got the replacement from newegg today, same problem. Now I'm really ticked. After stripping the machine completely, I finally lifted off the heat sink. The CPU was not seated!!! It was merely sitting in the socket! The only way I can figure this happened is if the person assembling the machine didn't bother to lift the locking lever on the CPU socket. ATTENTION ACER: How could you let this happen? This is beyond stupid!

After locking the CPU, everything is roses.

Other Thoughts: Newegg RMA was great. They emailed me a label, and I got the new one shipped out the same day the received the dead one. Now only if they could get the cross-shipping going. I've sold hundreds of Acer machines over the years. Hopefully, they respond to this and fix the problem, or my days of selling and using Acer products may come to an end.

4 out of 5 eggsSame size as my Xbox 360

Pros: Small, perfect for the few apps it'll be running (Office, Quicken, web,,,) HDMI out is a plus. Slot for tuner card is a plus.

Cons: Junk software abounds. Be prepared to remove like a dozen useless apps before you load anything else. It'd be nice to have the front USB/card reader on the top, not the bottom, but oh well.

Other Thoughts: It is what it is and it works great. Good value.

5 out of 5 eggsNice PC for the Price

Pros: Cheap Price, Windows 7 Upgrade (though it's a Linux server write now), Works with Linux, Small.

Cons: Windows Vista, the blue power LED is a bit bright (I don't need a night light in my office anymore), all the trial-ware (though that with all PCs nowadays).

Other Thoughts: This little PC works great for the AVERAGE PC user. If EMAIL and the INTERNET are your thing, then this PC is GREAT! It does NOT come with Office. (Not a negative to me, since I don't use it)

I used for about 2 months as a second desktop/software test PC. Now I use it as a Linux server.

4 out of 5 eggsNice machine, Works with Linux

Pros: Price. Hotkeys and volume on keyboard. S.M.A.R.T. harddrive and onboard temp sensors. Promised Windows 7 "upgrade" free. 7.1 surround sound. 512 meg (shared memory) video card.

Cons: Windows Tax! Side mounted CD drive. Blue hdd light encased in power light bar which makes it hard to see the hdd light. SD card slot not spring loaded. No OS CD! No User Manuals! Runs a bit hot (50C to 60C for the CPU, 40C to 55C for hdd). Near impossible to get the dang Windows stickers off.

Other Thoughts: Hardware wise, this is a laptop in a case minus wireless hardware. Ubuntu install (8.10) was straight forward and easy. To access the BIOS, press 'Delete' at boot. Here you can change the boot order to boot from CD so you can install other OS's.
The only issue is the Realtek ALC888 soundcard. To get proper use of the card, search for "Alsa-Upgrade-Scrip" and update your ALSA. To get full function out of the Nvidia video card, install EnvyNG and install the driver for the card. This will allow full 3d use of the card. Tested the 3d with glxgears at 650+ fps. This machine needs good air flow as it runs a bit hot. Not ideal for low air flow areas such as a cabinet or closet. This machine will need to be opened up every 6 months or so and cleaned out. It's a real air cleaning, dust bunny collector.

All in all for the price, you get a rather nice machine that satisfies all the basic computing requirements and I can even play OpenArena ! Boots Ubuntu to login screen in under 20 second

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Value

Pros: I bought this from another source. First off people this is OBVIOUSLY not a gaming computer. If that's what you bought this for you're as mentally changed as GWB. This IS NOT a gaming computer and should not be evaluated as one. Get a life people. A decent graphics card the ATI 4890 costs almost as much as this machine alone, $250. This computer is for basic surfing, watching DVDs, office production, etc. This is not for gaming, video editing, CAD, engineering apps, and intensive programs like that.

This computer does it's job with more than a passing grade. I wiped the hard drive clean with killdisk and installed Windows 7 RC which runs beautifully on this machine. This machine does a wonderful job and 95% of people out there would be more than satisfied with this machine.

Cons: Unrealistic people who want everything for nothing. For $350 its a hell of a machine! I mean people who want to use it as a gaming computer, first it has a small form factor case, and real graphics card needs a full ATX case just for the airflow alone, and it only has a 250W power supply only barely making the minimum requirements for even the lowest of low end graphics cards.

Being picky I guess I don't for the trail-ware thing every company uses. I wipe every computer I get and reload with the programs I like. Also the blue LED lights for the power are a bit bright, but I've seen much worse. Not much really to complain about.

Other Thoughts: I was concerned about this computer. I had not used the Athlon X2 (Kuma core) processors. I was wondering how they would compare. But they are amazing. Much better than the 4800 X2 I had before, that went to a friend in college. It's a very responsive system, Vista does okay with it, but Windows 7 is the best OS I've touched yet from Microsoft and it works AMAZING with this system. No slow downs at all. Everything is lightening fast!
