5 out of 5 eggsstill going strong (an update)

Pros: Over 2 weeks in and no problems yet. Received my Windows 7 upgrade after about 10 days, had no trouble upgrading. Hooked up the included speakers on my old computer- not bad for casual usage while surfing the web, nothing great.

Cons: Power button has already been hit 3 or 4 times by accident. That's about it. Slight delay from the time the disk tray is pressed to when it opens. Thing runs quiet...almost too quiet! Keep having to fight the urge to check and make sure the fan's still running.

Other Thoughts: I admit, I love this computer. Handles the data-intensive Football Manager games without breaking a sweat, and is quicker on the boot up than my previous Acer.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: After comparing numerous desktop PCs, I decided to take a risk with this one, despite the mixed reviews. First thing I did was open up the case and check the wiring- everything was okay. I turned the computer on and then went about the process of downloading the 49 updates from Microsoft and co. but no prob...I'm too busy flying around the internet. I'm amazed at how much quicker webpages are loading despite having the same internet speed as my previous computer. I do like the keyboard -even if it feels cheap- for the built-in volume control and play/pause/stop/etc. buttons. Mouse is fine for what I use it for.

Cons: Bloatware. About 20 minutes or so to remove the various games and programs that came pre-installed. Speakers look pretty cheap, though I haven't actually used them as my old ones have performed wonderfully for close to 8 years now.

Other Thoughts: A decent graphics card, ddr3 memory and a powerful processor make this a package that's hard to beat. Hopefully the issues that plagued other reviewers have been resolved; so far I'm delighted with my purchase. I'll update later after I've received my Windows 7 upgrade from Acer.

5 out of 5 eggsRead before returning

Pros: bought 6 of these for a project. Love em! everyone of them shipped with a cable loose, but after that they were great.

Cons: As long as you are prepared to open them when they arrive: you MUST reconnect the HD power cable.

You MUST re-seat the wifi-card.

Took 4 weeks for Acer to send me the free Win7 upgrade (not really bad for free)

Other Thoughts: Have not had to deal with Acer support (but I also bought 9 Acer monitors at the same time. NOT A SINGLE DEAD/STUCK PIXEL!

1 out of 5 eggsThis was a bust!!!

Pros: hmmmm.....

Cons: The machine wouldn't even boot up!!! I tried to contact Acer and was told I needed to send an email and they would get back to me in order of when the email was received. That was 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard a word. Newegg will only send a replacement so I had to box it up and take it to a UPS store to return. Still waiting for the replacement. I wouldn't give this machine a rating except a rating is required to submit!

Other Thoughts: Everyone hates Dell's customer service, but at least when a machine is ordered, it works. Next time I'll order a Dell.

3 out of 5 eggsFInally

Pros: Awesome. Agree with all the other glowing reviews

Cons: Service and Quality. They would merit a 1, except for the fact that you could buy two computers at this price and if one worked youd get a half decent value for them.

Shipped with HD power not connected like many others, also power button was broken and wireless didnt work.

The computer sucessfully booted three of the first 10 tries before failing completely.

Heard horror stories about acer phone support, so I did by email. Now I have my own horror stories. Email is still better, but slow responses, careless responses that clearly didnt read the previous thread, and different person replying almost every time. They once offered to pay shipping both ways, then retracted that offer and told me to ship to them.

Very frustrating. Took two weeks to acknowlege the problem, another 1 to get them to schedule a repair, and another two to repair.

Other Thoughts: Cons are in the past. I love it now. But I gotta tell my story.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!!!

Pros: I love this computer. I have had it for a month now and it works amazing. Especially for this price.
It's very fast. I love the front top USB ports - very easy access.

Cons: Well as a technician the very first thing I did was open up the case. The HDD was not plugged into the power. So you will have to do that also the side panel was hard to put back on.
When I got my computer to boot up. The speakers worked fine for a while but later on the kind of gave a "kish kish kish" sound and it would do that ones in a while.

Other Thoughts: Other then the speakers and the not plugged in HDD the computer is great. I would sages to anyone to get this computer. It's not hard to plug in the HDD power if you don't know.
The keyboard is very nice as well.
I just ordered a free upgrade of windows 7. I got it in my hands but have not installed it yet. I bet it will work pretty sweet on this machine.
Have fun with it!!!

1 out of 5 eggsA bit more

Pros: N/A

Cons: I do not believe the issue of system freezes/bluescreens/etc can be attributed to be Vista - WHile trying to install Vista (fresh personal copy) it took multiple attempts as the DVD/Disk would cease functioning at various stages during the install. Now while it is a Vista kernel being used for the boots process - it s a stripped down version used for the install process itself. Still feels like a motheroard issue

1 out of 5 eggsWho to Blame... Vista? Acer?

Pros: The system is spectacular, and I can't build a system at a better price:performance ratio than this. Even an Acer brand 21.5" monitor I picked up is an awesome price for the specs.

Cons: Two critical (work-stoppage severity) problems with this build.
1) The computer ships without power provided to the HDD. The cable is there, it's just not plugged in. Easy fix right? Try getting the tower cover open. I dare ya. It took me a solid 3 hours trying to open it. 2.5 hours of delicate pull attempts, then 30 minutes of prying the dang thing open got me inside the machine. Acer's measurements for the tower cover must be a few millimeters off, in a lot of spots.

2) Maybe it's Vista, maybe it's the RAM, who knows, but the system locks up/randomly reboots/randomly blue screens at intervals of 3-10 minutes. I've tried to install XP on it instead, but maybe I'm missing the drivers necessary for it, because trying that blue screens the system too. I'm waiting for Windows 7's release to make a final judgment.

Other Thoughts: The system would get a 5/5 from me, if it worked for longer than 15 minutes at a time. I was told that a lot more of the blame should go to Vista, because reboots are a common problem with it, so it's hard to know what the true problem is.
If you already have Windows7, get this system. It's le awesome. Otherwise, wait til the 22nd to pick this up.
