1 out of 5 eggsNo Internet Connection

Pros: Lots of RAM for the price.

Cons: Could not connect to the Internet after Windows 7 setup. Acer Telephone Support will only help with network setup if you buy an additional service plan through them. As this was a non-returnable item, you're stuck with a computer that can't connect to the Internet unless you want to pay Acer more money to install whatever additional drivers are necessary.

Other Thoughts: The one thing the Acer Support Technician did say was that the computer was Internet-ready out of the box. It wasn't, otherwise I wouldn't have called. He then said the computer probably just needed a driver, which he could set up for me if I paid for the additional service plan. In other words, the computer wasn't Internet-ready out of the box. He alternately suggested I contact Acer's online hardware support page. But this would require an Internet connection, which the computer didn't have. That's an enormous amount of irony for $400 dollars, I'll give them that. I'd say you should stay away from Acer products if this is their way of doing things.

Pros: Great computer for the price! So far im loving the computer overall.

There are tons of ports on the computer, i'd be highly suprised if anyone ran out of usb ports. The front of the computer has a port for just about anything you'd need to plug in.

The only thing that would make this computer any better would be a better graphics card, or maybe enough room/power to upgrade to one. Granted it'll probably play just about anything that was out in 2004 or before it. *computer requirements wise*

Cons: Im unsure if the graphics card will ever be able to be upgraded, due to power and size issues. The graphics card isn't powerfull enough to play a lot of the new games, which is the primary con to the computer.

The dvd-r drive is vertical *for those that dont know*, personally I like my drive horizonal so cd's dont fall out and get damaged.

While playing some games i've noticed the left click on the mouse sticks, which can be annoying. So you may need a better mouse if you plan on playing games that require a lot of left clicking. Thankfully I still had my old logitech optical mouse to fall back on.

The keys on the keyboard are very close together, like that of a laptop keyboard. Personally I found this quite disorientating at first.

Other Thoughts: How the computer rates based on vista's computer performance rating system.

The scale currently goes from 1.0 to 7.9 (7.9 being the best)
Processor: 7.1
Ram: 5.9
Graphics: 3.7
Gaming Graphics: 3.3
Primary HDD: 5.9

Overall its a good computer for games built prior than 2004, and generally just about any program. Its a great computer for just ordinary use. Once I upgrade to a true gaming computer, this will make a nice backup computer.

There is a slight pause when you touch the power button which makes me wonder half the time if the computer is actually going to turn on. The power button led turns on when touched, then turns off for a few sec then the computer starts and the LED turns back on.

The case rattles slightly on the right side when laid flat, near the power led/vent holes. Sticking something light there prevents much of the rattling. When the case is laid standing up its extremely silient, you will hardly notice it even if its sitting beside you!

5 out of 5 eggsvery satisfied

Pros: Very small, silent, internal access is easy with removal of 2 screws, HDMI, 4GB RAM, Windows 7, and most of all: Intel Quad Core CPU, OS runs very fast and snappy.

Cons: Had to remove about 10 bloatware programs.

Other Thoughts: I recommended this machine to a client, he is VERY happy, and my credibility is intact.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Speed, quiet, size, price, plenty of front and rear usb ports including memory card slots. Came with Windows 7

Cons: Desktop came without wireless. Bought a linksys compact usb adapter and have had nothing but problems staying connected. I require wireless due to the distance from my router. I am going to try and find a wireless PCI adapter that will with the smaller compact case/motherboard and see if that solves my problem.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if the machine came with wireless.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Machine

Pros: Fantastic Machine for the money. Very quiet.

Cons: Bought this the day Windows 7 came out - drivers were a bit rough. Some USB weirdness. Downloaded latest BIOS & drivers from Acer along with all Win7 updates and system has been rock solid ever since. Using as my primary desktop - fantastic purchase. Highly recommended. I've already sold a number of these to clients.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy Setup

Pros: A lot of machine for the price; Quad Q8300 memory and 1600 x 1200 pixel display outputs on VGA & HDMI outputs. Looking forward to HDMI output to large LCD TV.
Windows 7 was easy to set up and get going, it really does seem a step up from XP in simplicity. Printers installed themselves.
No significant app tests yet.

Cons: Had to make own Recovery Disks/Drivers on 4 DVD's, sort of stumbled on this by accident.

Other Thoughts: Hope it is reliable.
