4 out of 5 eggsWorks well as a browser, but not good for HD.

Pros: This little computer works well for users who just want the basics. My wife uses it for Internet, Facebook, and other simple task. It is small and quiet. Perfect for people who need a simple computer.

Cons: I would not use this as a media PC. It CAN NOT handle HD video.

Other Thoughts: Disappointed it could not handle HD.

3 out of 5 eggsMEH

Pros: Does most things well

Cons: HORRIBLE HD STREAMING. This is what I bought a Home Theatre PC for, streaming from Boxee, Hulu, etc. This thing cant *NOT* play an HD stream smoothly. It stops, it stutters, it varies from painfully annoying to unwatchable. Be forewarned.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Machine, Lousy Support

Pros: Small, compact HTPC capable PC
Nice packaging
Includes wireless keyboard and mouse

Cons: Weak wireless networking don't expect wireless N speeds from this bad boy.
Lousy OEM technical support which tries to sell "answers by Acer" support for a $129 fee. You have to be kidding me.

Other Thoughts: Although I like the product, this will be the last Acer/Gateway/emachines product I will purchase. Their technical support will not acknowledge hardware problems. If the hardware is partially working, it is working as far as they are concerned and the technical support will blame it on any of a number of items not covered my their warranty. They will be happy to assist you for a "nominal" fee of $129 for 90 minutes of phone support. Unless the hardware is dead they just try to pad the corporate coffers.

4 out of 5 eggsHTPC Capable

Pros: Small, quiet, low price point, and can be mounted of the back of your TV for complete invisibility. It ran Hulu and Netflix without flaw, and any H.264 video's I could find. Functional right out of the box.

Cons: Bloatware is my top annoyance with this, does the system have to come with McAfee trial, two cloud based backup programs, and two trial versions of office? All the usual Acer branded crapware also makes an appearance, which made for about an hour of work with CCleaner.

One more mild annoyance, it doesn't have a hibernate mode, so you have to deal with it waking up from sleep mode if you jostle the mouse, or boot it up each time you want to use it.

Other Thoughts: I got this mainly to watch Subs of foreign shows. It saves me the hassle of tweaking my desktop setting each time I want to watch them on the TV rather than my monitor. I heard some people had problems with the wifi but I get a constant five bars, so your mileage may vary.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Package Deal

Pros: I purchased this computer to be an HTPC, and it works very well. I am not using the wireless card as I have a gigabit ethernet connection available. The wireless keybd and mouse are just great. They have unexpectedly good range and they lay all over the living room ready for use. I was afraid the mouse would use up the battery quickly, but its not the case. The little guy is bristling with USB ports.

Cons: If I were to recommend anything, I would upgrade to 4GBs of DDR2. I have read conflicting info on upgrading this pc, so I pulled the ram out of another machine and tried it. It was recognized and if the internal performance monitor is to be believed, prevented the hard drive caching that I had seen when under test. If you intend to record much, get an external eSATA drive. The USB bottlenecks sometimes, I can duplicate it, but I don't know exactly why...I suspect its my older 250Gb USB 2.0 external drive. The current 1TB eSATA does the job.

Other Thoughts: I have added an external 1tb drive to take care of the recording & storage duties. I added an USB 'off air' HD tuner by KWorld. If I knew then what I do now, I would've moved up the chain one notch and purchased a PC with a built in DVD/CD rom drive and a dual core processor or similar. The atom is impressive, but it is noticable slower than my other PC's. The little PC is just great in my living room running Media Center and works fine for watching TV, calling up movies for the grandkids from the server, (no more scratched DVDs for us!), watching Netflix, and all that time slip TV fact I'm considering buying another KWorld tuner so it'll record two things at once.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT an HTPC

Pros: Will play iso movies through a wired network via XBMC.
If you want a media extender and want to watch SD videos over the web, this will do the job fine. Personally, I wish you could get it without an OS because windows is trash.

Cons: Don't know how other are streaming HD over the net but this thing will NOT do it. If you want a real HTPC and be able to stream all types of video over the net DO NOT BUY THIS. Even after loading 3gb's of RAM, no dice with HD web video.
Comes with Windows installed.

Other Thoughts: Good for watching adult videos on the big screen!

5 out of 5 eggsThanks Newegg.

Pros: Wow, the shipping was fast. I did install mine in my bedroom to watch hulu and Netflix. the sound & image are amazing.
It's great device. Small enough to fit just about anywhere.

Cons: If you like surfing the web, do not buy this device. I suggest a laptop, or PC.

5 out of 5 eggsAspire Revo 3610

Pros: Small, simple, quiet, dependable runs cool. Great price point. I am considering purchasing for other rooms in the house. Keyboard and mouse are great for occasional use.

Cons: No DVD internal blu-ray player would make this a great all in one HTPC box.

Other Thoughts: I use this almost exclusively for playing .vob files streamed from a WD NAS. I've tried various HTPC viewing platforms, My Movies has been the best so far (also spouse friendly in conjunction with a Logitech Harmony remote). As in other reviews, the bloatware junk that is installed on this is annoying and slows it down. I deleted all of it. I run it hardwired to my network with the wireless disabled.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet

Pros: Quiet. There is a fan - if I put my ear right up against the box I can hear it - and then only if the room is still.
Small. If you have a free-standing TV with a VESA mount you can mount this on the back of the TV and it will practically disappear.
Fast Video / Audio decompression. No hesitation decoding IP-based video or audio (note - I'm not using HD)

Cons: Keyboard is a little flimsy. But it was free, so no complaints.
CPU lags on non-decompression activities at times. To be expected and well worth the small size and quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsIt gets the job done.

Pros: I bought this as an HTPC and it has met all of my expectations. This unit is compact and has a nice design. I particularly like that it comes with wireless keyboard, mouse and wireless n adaptor. It plays 1080p content and hulu without any problem. The included Windows 7 Home Premium saves me money from having to buy another copy of Windows.

Cons: This does not come with a Windows 7 disc nor a dvd drive. So I had to jump through a few hoops to reinstall Windows. The official driver for the wireless n card causes the sound to occasionally crackle and pop. Uninstalling the driver and let Windows installs its own driver fixes the problem.

Other Thoughts: I definitely recommend getting an external dvd or blu ray drive with this.
