4 out of 5 eggsNice cheap i3 box...Continued

Pros: - Read previous "Nice cheap i3 box"

- Plays nicely with Linux.

Cons: - Not recommended for a lab/test installation of Windows 2008 Server R2 64-bit

- LGA 1155 is a depreciated "dead socket," so there is a limited CPU upgrade path.

Other Thoughts: And yes, the aSampras EIH57MK mobo supports 4x4 DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) = 16GB

When I temporarily re-purposed one AM3910-UR30P to run Windows 2008 Server R2 64-bit, the box became cranky: Random read/write disk problems. It's probably an incompatibility issue with the Windows 2008 Server R2 64-bit SATA driver and the aSampras EIH57MK mobo.

The aSampras EIH57MK mobo is certified for Windows 7 64-bit only, but works fine with the latest 64-bit Red Hat Linux and VMware's ESXi 5.1 BusyBox Linux.

According to another model with the same mobo, one can top out an upgrade to a Core i7 870 LGA 2.93G 8M 1333 1156 95W B-1 Quad Core

Pros: So far none.

Cons: First, I lost the icons to Windows picture and movie make. Second, when I load pictures from the SD card, some turned either discolored or not at all. Third, the programs I have purchased for cannot be loaded.

Other Thoughts: I live in the country where internet must be by satellite. I bought this computer mainly for photo and video download and editing, but without internet it is too difficult to get help. The person who recommended this is now looking at the issues I have. If he doesn't get it figured out, it is going back.

4 out of 5 eggsGREAT!!!!

Pros: CHEAP! fast shipping enough space for upgrades easy to install and use the computer really is more of a starter kit invest another 200 bucks and upgrade the hardware like better RAM video card and power supply and your set to go with a nice gaming rig or workstation!!

Cons: BAD customer service i ordered an hd radeon 6850 with the computer and when i tried to install it the back panels where you take them off to fit in the video card didnt have any screw to them they where GLUED my 2004 computer had screws in it and this one was glued lol anyways i called and acer and they just transfered me to one department to another so ya dnt call them!!!

Other Thoughts: other than that the system is running my big radeon 6850 and 500 psu and 8 gb of ran perfectly well oh also if u dnt want to get a video card or new PSU just more ram the wiring for the onboard psu it brings is really really NEAT and not all scatered around the case but i recommend this PC for workstation or entry gaming rig!!

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Very fast computer, big improvement on what I had before. Even stock this computer will run a high-end game at mid graphics settings.

Cons: Aside from the stock "welcome" programs acer includes, no con's so far.

Other Thoughts: I'll be giving this thing it's full 8GB and a 1GB graphics card, see if that'll make it have space travel xD

4 out of 5 eggsSOLID DESKTOP

Pros: A very solid unit for the price -- keep in mind that you will have to add additional RAM, but with upgrade you will notice the extremely fast response time -- RE: max RAM: with its 4 slots, it will accept a max of 16 GB (on line specs state that it will accept RAM in 1,2, & 4GB sticks) -- 10 USB ports are a real boon.

Cons: Getting to and preparing the PCI slots is a real bear -- the overal fit/finish of the machine is less than top-level -- the accompanying keyboard and mouse are substandard, and you will probably want to replace both at some point.

Other Thoughts: Good value for the cost.

5 out of 5 eggsVery satisfied

Pros: Plug right in and connect your componets and your done.

Cons: Needs more RAM, but I knew that when I bought it.

Other Thoughts: For the price it is a great computer for the home computer to do business on and web surfing.

4 out of 5 eggsNice cheap i3 box

Pros: - Cheap, upgradable entry-level Intel i3 box
- 10 USB slots all over the place. 10!

Cons: See other reviews

Other Thoughts: I purchased two of these for a cheap VMware ESXi lab cluster. Thanks to all of the other NewEgg reviewers, there were no unexpected surprises.

There are plenty of annoying quirks that others have covered, many related to design choices and minimizing costs.

The biggest bugaboo might be that sometimes shipping shakes the power supply connection loose from the motherboard so the unit appears DOA when you first plug it in. An easy enough fix for those willing to crack the case.

After the PCI and PCI-Ex16 slots are fulled, the remaining two Mini PIC-Ex1 slots may limit expansion options depending on your needs.

Then there are all of the other annoying design minutia that many others have mentioned: The backwards facing USB ports on the top of the case, the Rube Goldberman-ish DVD eject button, the difficult punch-out expansion bay slot covers.

But with all of the faults, it's still a decent bang-for-your-buck buy.

And yes, the aSampras EIH57MK mobo supports 4x4 DDR3 = 1

5 out of 5 eggsDon't overlook this one

Pros: My parents bought this and sent it to me to evaluate for them and I'm impressed. It's fast easy to set up and a good value for the money. Original Windows 7 experience score was 3.9 but I added a ASUS ENGT 440 Fermi video card from Newegg $56 after rebate and it now scores 5.8 and is pretty fast. The hard drive scores 5.9 so this is a good combination. With the extra 4 gigs of Patriot ram I put in for them it'll be all they need for a while.

Cons: Not crazy about the largish blue lights but the tower is not bad overall it has a sort of carbon fiber look on the front that I like. A little hard to get the graphics card in, the MB is a little too tight against the back of the case.

Other Thoughts: I think this system and the ASUS ENGT 440 are sleepers that shouldn't be overlooked

4 out of 5 eggsGood computer for a decent price.

Pros: Booted fast, no problems. Good starter computer for new users or users looking to add in parts later.

Cons: The pop out slots in the back are probably the most annoying part of the computer. Ended up using a bayonet on them(not recommend for safety issues). Sure you could say small HDD or low RAM but for the price, its not bad at all. Plan on adding some RAM and a Vid Card if you plan on running any games at their best settings.

Other Thoughts: I can't say much about how it ran out of the box, I made sure it would boot and then shut it off and added 6 gigs of RAM and my old Nvidia 9600 video card. With both of those I can use it as a decent gaming computer, runs MW3 well, and World of Warcraft on ultra.
