1 out of 5 eggsAcer Fails Here!

Pros: None, this thing fails! Should be 0 stars.

Cons: First one was DOA. Second one failed 1 day before 1 year warranty expired. Acer would not honor because shipping time would arrive after warranty and would charge to repair. Terrible product!

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!

Pros: None. None at all.

Cons: Well, it's fully non-functional right out of the box. And after working with Acer to try and get boot disks, then a new hard drive, then an entirely new system overall I'd say you're actually better off spending money on a large hunk of rock instead of this computer. The rock will do all the things its advertised to do. "Rock! Holds down papers!" and "Rock! It's cold to the touch!". This computer, however, won't even boot, nevermind run Windows.

Acer keeps trying to get me to spend money to try and fix this thing. They tried to charge me for recovery media. They tried to get me to buy a new harddrive. That tried to charge me shipping for everything, including sending the computer in for repairs. And they have no options for just calling it a lemon and sending out a replacement, but they did offer to let me spend money to buy a new system. At this point I'm more likely to burn "F*** YOU, ACER!!" into my yard in twenty foot tall letters than ever spend money with their company again.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this entire ordeal has been miserable. The Newegg ordering experience is painful at best. (I've never had to work so hard to give a company my money. But lets not discuss that here.) And then to receive a fully non-functional system, get the full run-around trying to get it repaired, and then to get nickle and dime-ed at every step along the way has been enough to make me consider buying an Apple product. Yes, Apple. Even thinking that makes me taste bile in the back of my throat. But at least they're straightforward in how exactly they're going to take your money. After this particular adventure in computer purchasing I'm thinking that working with a corporation that is honest about all the ways they're going to hose you sounds much, much better than having to work with a variety of different companies, all with their own call centers, who all want to hose you in numerous and varied ways that you're just not ready for.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value, some oddities

Pros: Great price and features. Good RAM, fast and responsive, 1 TB is great for a modern Windows partition.

Cons: Yes, we understand that Windows 7 has a known evidently unfixable bug where you cannot reassign drive letters permanently. But it is rare and happens only on a few machines. As this is a brand new machine with Acer specific image it is hard to see how this annoying bug ships with the OS. Also, the software only DVD is a real pain. A DVD should have a manual eject button because stuff happens. Just trying to boot off of DVD's with BING and a few other tools to implement a long term imaging strategy (the only way to manage Windows) is a hassle. It assumes a working copy of Windows (to eject the DVD) which is usually not what you have when you are gong to your imaging. No copy of Windows 7 install disks. Main drive is plugged into the secondary SATA port (why???) causing confusion with imaging software.

Other Thoughts: Good value, but the DVD oddity is inexcusable. Plus with a zillion ports grabbing unchangeable drive letters isn't there room in there for just one Firewire port? Yes, I'll move in my old Firewire card but come on now.

1 out of 5 eggssuper dud

Pros: got here in 2 days

Cons: had to wait for shipping label, had to wait for it to get back, had to wait 2-3 days to unpack it and look it over, have to wait 3-5 days to get money back, I was expecting a replacement the day it was returned, out of stock, can't order another until i get my money back. Don't have my money yet! I should have been on my new computer 2 weeks ago, Looking for something comparable and nothing on sale, it will cost me $300 extra. Newegg has always fixed or replaced any item i bought.

Other Thoughts: I even bought the 1T external HD backup. Can't send it back because i hooked it to the computer that i sent back.

1 out of 5 eggsDied

Pros: None

Cons: About 5 minutes after setting it up the computer blue screened on me and turned off. Trying to power it back up, the power light comes on and the fans spin, then it turns off and on again over and over.

Other Thoughts: Submitted an RMA request to Acer, but still waiting to hear back.

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely happy with this computer

Pros: I've had this computer for about a week now, and I am loving it. It is stable, with great specs for the price. I searched around a lot and didn't find anything else that had a quad-core Intel processor and 8GB RAM for the $550 I paid.

I've done some video file conversions and they were incredibly fast. I haven't done video editing yet, but I expect this computer to be more than up to the task.

The case has a sleek look and there are lots of USB and audio inputs, which is great, and lots of room for expansion inside. The "front" USB and audio ports are actually on the top of the case, which was weird at first but I realized that since I put the computer on the floor, it is actually a great design and much easier to use.

Newegg shipped fast, I ordered this on a Monday night and had it on Thursday. Every computer comes with some bloatware, but I really didn't think this was bad. I uninstalled a few programs first thing, and it was totally clean.

I was way behind the times in upgrading my personal computer to Windows 7 and I'm really enjoying using it, seems quick and stable and intuitive.

Cons: The keyboard that comes with this computer is a piece of junk. It works just fine, but the buttons are all basically the exact same size and aligned in a huge grid, so it's really hard to find more out-of-the-way keys. Can be fixed by just using any of a million keyboards you probably have laying around instead. If that's the only complaint I can think of, then I'd say this thing is a home run.

Other Thoughts: I think this was a great value on a computer that has the horsepower to be viable as a primary home computer for years to come. I would recommend it, and Newegg, highly.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I ordered!

Pros: Everything works as it should. It will take some time to learn how each feature should function. I do not have some of my old programs installed and they may not be needed.

Cons: Getting accustomed to something new.

5 out of 5 eggsadvice to the last reviewer, John

Pros: Please look at my review (Rolo)

Cons: Last reviewer unaware of display timeout settings.

Other Thoughts: Unaware PC owner did not set his power saver to off, thus a negative review. This is a great P.C. especially for the price, you just have to study it's advance settings, that's all. Right click anywhere on the screen, go to personalization, then screensaver, then power saver settings and turn it off. After about a month of use, I love it's speed and power....

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price!

Pros: Best deal I could find for the price. At the time I payed $549 for the computer and it came bundled free with a normally $50 gaming mouse. This was by far the best deal I could find for a computer with one of the new Ivy Bridge processors. Regarding performance, I generally agree with all the other positive reviews.

Cons: Many of the articles I read stated that the new Ivy Bridge processors made low-end graphic cards obsolete. This may be true, but if you plan on playing any newer games on this machine, you definitely also need to install a dedicated video card.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a new desktop computer in the $500 to $600 price range, I doubt you'll do better than this one. Hopefully Newegg will restock it soon.

1 out of 5 eggs2 weeks and out

Pros: Great system for the price on sale (was 550)

Cons: Filled with bloatware, USB 3.0's apparently don't work correctly with WD external HDs (reading online, Acer apparently often supplies minimal power to the 3.0 ports, meaning my drive is forced to use them as 2.0), computer abruptly stopped working at two weeks of ownership. I think it might be my RAM or my PSU, as the computer will 'turn on' as in fans start going but never actually boots. It's ridiculous that I go to sleep and it works and 8 hours later it's busto.

Other Thoughts: Obviously going to be filling out a RMA, b/c if I wanted trash off the street I'd just troll the upper-class neighborhoods near my house.
