5 out of 5 eggsJust What We Needed

Pros: Perfect for the parents and office use. Not anything fancy, but gets the job done. Inexpensive.

Cons: Nothing worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: Like I said, nothing fancy.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for your parents

Pros: Small, cheap, and works just fine

Cons: Needs more RAM, and there was a little bloatware which was easy to remove.

Other Thoughts: This is a great little computer for my parents. When their 9 year old computer died I bought this and put 8GB of RAM in (which was a bit of a hassle, as one of the slots was right under the DVD drive. Since then it has been great and still running smoothly (after about 6 months).

4 out of 5 eggsIs what I thought it was

Pros: Very small footprint. Sits under my desk and leaves me tons of room for my cable modem and my wireless router. Nice keyboard came with it and everything looks very sleek and stylish. Good amount of storage and decent amount of RAM for what we need. Very easy set up and had no issues with it at all out of the box which is always nice.

Cons: None that I can really come up with. I didn't purchase this system thinking that it was top of the line. Bloatware, but that is on any system that you purchase, you can't get away from that.

Other Thoughts: Don't think that this is a graphics of gaming machine and you won't have any issues with it. It certainly gets the job done for my family. We browse the internet, upload pictures and things like that. Works fine for us.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Very simple machine for a decent price.

Cons: Runs a bit sluggish here and there, but not as of late.

during the initial setup it froze at step 24, and needed to be restart. and again two more times. luckily it continued right where it left off. but now at the login i have a permanent 2min circle in the middle. after the bad install the system was slow, and unstable. i was however able to get it working properly.

as a side note the Green Acer Background at login, and Ctrl+Alt+Del is very bright, and makes hard to see. kinda annoying. but thats just being picky.

Other Thoughts: Overall not too bad. does its job for the price. would've gotten a better score if not for my issues with the setup.

4 out of 5 eggsAcer AX1420

Pros: Cheap system, has most of the basics works well for parents that are learning to use PC, beginners.

Cons: Needs more RAM right of the bat, sluggish at times. Power button on top bad move I always lean up on it when im standing and turns off. hard get around the components inside if u are not familiar with upgrading. took 5 min to upgrade the ram but it has a few steps involved.

Other Thoughts: No wifi... recommend a small wifi dongle, and small speakers and buy a cheap acer screen like 20 in or so

5 out of 5 eggsNo Complaints here

Pros: Bought this machine to replace the office computer which was 10 years old. You're getting a little better than what you pay for, a few nice pieces inside this mini tower for how cheap it is.

+ Front USB ports, headphone/mic jacks and an SD slot, a nice suprise!

Cons: A bit of bloatware, but nothing to complain about. Just uninstall and set it up to your own liking with no real trouble.

Other Thoughts: My parents thought they've died and went to heaven with this, I haven't told them how cheap, heh.

2 out of 5 eggsOK, but Very Limited Upgrade

Pros: Small footprint, would be good if you are ordering without many plans to upgrade. Order for what it is, not what you can turn it into.

Cons: Can't fit a majority of video cards in slot provided due to case restrictions. They put so much work in making it a small footprint, that they sacrificed why you would even have PCI/etc slots.

5 out of 5 eggsEdit to my other review

Pros: Same as last review

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This PC DOES has front usb, multi card reader, and headphone/microphone jacks. I did not see the little flap the first time that you open up for the front ports.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent PC

Pros: I bought this for my dad, and he loves it. The specs are relatively high for the price. The integrated Nvidia graphics are loads better than the Intel HD graphics on most lower end PC's.

Cons: If you plan on upgrading, get a bigger case, its cramped.

No front USB ports.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's a steal

Pros: It would make a good HTPC as long as you don't need Bluray. I'm using it as an office computer (programming), which it seems to have plenty of power for Two things I was attracted to were the processor (windows experience index: 6.3) and the number of USB ports. Not only does it have six USB ports, it also has PS2 keyboard and mouse ports - so you don't have to use USB for those. The number of ports is really amazing in such a small computer. The rest of the hardware seems decent enough. I've opened up the case and it looks like you could add more RAM or upgrade the hard drive without much trouble. Plus it comes with Windows 7 Home Premium x64, which is not cheap (and you need Windows to stream Netflix).

Cons: This machine isn't for hardcore gaming, but I doubt hardcore gamers are looking at it anyway. The onbard video only has a VGA output - DVI would've been nice. Not a huge deal though. There's one PCI-E x16 port, so I may look at adding a video card if the power supply can take it. Acer machines come with a lot of junk software pre-installed, but uninstalling it didn't take long. There's not much room in the case for upgrades.

Other Thoughts: At today's low hardware prices and with things changing as quickly as they are, most "upgrading" isn't worthwhile for at least nintey percent of users. When you buy a whole new computer you avoid the bottlenecks found in "upgraded" PCs, and you don't have to worry about compatibility.
