4 out of 5 eggsBest Deal I've Seen in a While

Pros: - Can't beat the price, go ahead, try
- 3rd gen. Intel Core i7
- More RAM than you will need for the next 5 years
- 2TB HDD is great
- PC internals checked out well, good cable management, nothing disconnected, no dangley bits, PC runs fairly silent
- Can play most modern games at medium-high settings (Battlefield 3, The Witcher 2, Skyrim, Dead Space 3)
- 64-bit, multi-core and hyper threaded application run at a seemingly superluminal speed
- Plenty of options to upgrade, machine would be easy to future-proof

Cons: (Most of these are just "first world issues")

- The GT 630 GPU can handle a lot, but "maxed-out" is something that it will not accomplish with modern games
- Windows 8. I'm sorry, but Microsoft is slowly killing an already dying PC market. Thanks, uncle Bill!
- PC would only boot from hard drive at first (see other thoughts for explanation)

Other Thoughts: I've been a PC gamer for over 20 years and I've always made my own systems from component parts (I work in the IT field, I build a few of these things every day anyway). However, I decided to try a pre-built this time around, and boy, I'm glad I did!

WORDS OF WARNING: If you're like me and despise Windows 8, you're going to want a better OS on this thing, Windows 7, in my case. Although I ended up beating my head up against the wall for a few hours as the PC would only boot from the Windows 8 pre-formatted HDD and would not boot from CD/DVD drive or the slipstreamed Win7 installer I have on one of my USB sticks. I tried everything, boot menu, boot order, boot priority, no dice. For a while I even thought it was some BIOS-level DRM (UEFI). The solution you ask? Just a simple BIOS option that I kept missing, you need to set CSM to legacy mode, problem solved! Also in my research, if you do plan on installing new hardware, disable the "secure boot" option, also found in the BIOS. I hope this is helpful! Game on!

2 out of 5 eggsGreat while it worked

Pros: Awesome computer, great for the price, fast, came with minimum of bloatware, Acer customer service great

Cons: Failed after 19 days. Computer would not come out of sleep-- fans would spin up but no video output to monitor and USB devices would not turn on. Sending back to Acer's repair facility in Texas this week. Also Windows 8 is less than stellar.

Other Thoughts: I am a little unhappy. I have to PAY to send it back to Acer's facility in Texas after the thing failed in less than 30 days. On the up side, the tech I spoke to (via chat) was pretty nice and competent. I am not sure I will buy Acer again (although I have a tablet and it is great). Especially since the computer that this Predator is replacing (a 6 year old Alienware) is still working, albeit slowly.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome for my first gaming rig

Pros: Visually appealing tower, Windows 8, HDMI output, wifi enabled, fast i7 intel processor (3.40 GHz), plenty of ram (12 GB), huge Hard Drive (2TB).

Cons: Low end video card.

Other Thoughts: I love this computer. Windows 8 took a little getting used to but when I figured how to navigate it, it's the fastest version of windows yet! I was worried that Windows 8 would gimp my gaming experience (from what I read online about windows 8, it wasn't gamer friendly). After installing Steam and purchasing some games I haven't had any problems.

If you have wifi in your house hold you won't have any problems connecting this computer to the internet. It also comes with a year of McAfee Internet Security Suite so you don't have to worry about purchasing Anti-Virus software.
One of the things that plagues most PC users is buying a PC to only have it bogged down by bloatware. Well surprise guys! This computer doesn't have any. The only thing I uninstalled was Wild Tangent games since I've had security issues with that client before. The only real gripe I have with this computer is the video card. It's not exactly a top end card but it gets the job done. For example I can run Batman Arkham City on the second to the highest settings and not experience any drop in frames. But honestly for the price that it's being sold for I can always just upgrade the video card later. If you want to get into PC gaming or just want an awesome computer this is a good buy.

Oh, on another note. I'm sure you've already noticed but this tower does not come with a monitor or a display. Honestly I didn't think that was a problem since it has an HDMI port. I could just have it hooked up to my HDTV until i could get a proper display for it.

5 out of 5 eggsIt has been a year

Pros: Great machine! I love this computer.

Cons: None aside from 3D mess up

Other Thoughts: I had some problems with my monitor being able to use 3D cable but other than that it has been great. Haven't tried to hook 3D cable back since the first time I had to send back to reset.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine but..

Pros: Great machine, awesome looking case and very powerful. Silent and stays cool.

Cons: I believe it was shipped with a shoddy graphics card, everything I've looked at checks out. There are hundreds/thousands of tiny red pixels everywhere.
