5 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine

Pros: I have to say. For an out of the box, set it up and go machine, I couldn't be happier. I'll have had this machine for a year in February. I have not had ANY issues with it, other than minor ones. It's quiet, and doesnt heat up at all. I play a lot of newer games, and games like ArmAII, or the DayZ mod, which run poorly on most machines, buts runs decently on mine.

Cons: The USB ports on top sometimes fail, but I just got a 4 way splitter for the USB 3.0 in the back, and its fine.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a good machine to open up and play, this is it. I planned from the very beginning using this as a stepping stone to building a better rig, and thats what i'm doing now.

2 out of 5 eggsreview part II: the drive age will drive you mad!

Pros: remember when working within the confines of the machine, be sure to properly ground yourself

Cons: so after i installed my 250gb intel ssd , i wanted to remove the included 1tb barracuda drive to the front drive bay (secured by a strange screw that can only be magically unlocked by the acer included hex-torque whatchamajigi screwdriver of redemption)
before i get to celebrate, i discovered lo and behold, the lower second screww of the internal hard drive is screwwed in toward the bottom of the motherboard
therefore, unless you happen to have either super strong thumb grip/ or a handy 90 degree/ perpendicular screww driver, you're not going to be able to remove it (i didnt) and even now i still can't tell the hdd's other side is also screwwed on toward to front part of the case interior, if it is, acer really deserve the red dot design of the year award....imagine a hdd sentenced to its steel cage purgatory eternally

oh yeah, for those that want out of windows 8...turn off in bios the secure boot and turn on csm, my acer predator has found redemption and has submitted to the will of win7, but it will be still an arduous search for the mashita dvdrw win7 drivers as acer usa decided that win8 versions will suffice....perhaps after microsoft finished de-win8 its windows 8 with its 8.1 updates, will then warrant a second look

Other Thoughts: potential buyers be sure to carefully read which acer desktop model each review refers to....for some reason newegg mixes the reviews of AG3-605-UR2 desktops, perhaps to make the acer predator score looks better than 2 less than stellar reviews...shady behavior .but guess yaaaay to marketing strategem

3 out of 5 eggspricey for the specs

Pros: N/A

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: A friend of mine owns it so I can't say much as how well it performs but If you have little knowledge about building computers, and want a gaming computer this is for you but I would highly advise on learning to build one as you can do it cheaper and make it with better, faster components.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Merchadise

Pros: Runs quiet

4 out of 5 eggsBest computer for the money I've ever bought

Pros: Very fast, I'm able to max out the graphics on every game I've played. I've got it hooked up to 3 24 inch displays which works great. Normally I run a Linux Virtual Machine inside of Windows 8 and have all sorts of server stuff running while I play a game on top of it all which is why I needed the memory. The system hasn't slowed down yet and is honestly better than I would have expected.

Cons: No eSata. Not alot of room inside the case for expansion. There is only one free SATA cable. Very weird hard drive setup. There is a 3TB drive and a 20GB SSD used for caching. It's weird enough that I can't "clone" my drive for backup because it has some weird caching partition setup.

The BIOS is odd. Out of the box you can't boot from a USB or load Linux. The BIOS is coded to say "Windows Boot" instead of show individual hard drives or external drives. I had to spend a hour on support with them to figure out how to turn that junk off. If you only ever use Windows and don't need to boot from USB it's not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Killer system for the price. I hate the locked down bios stuff and wish there was a eSATA or some more room for expansion. But I wouldn't want to pay any more for it. Overall this is a very good buy.

1 out of 5 eggsACER Support for APO Sucks

Pros: System set up was practically by itself. System was very fast enough.

Cons: System failed to boot in less than 2 months ownership. Contacted ACER about getting the restoration disk, those cost $20, or I can return the system for a warranty repair, OH wait I am located at an APO and their database will not allow shipping anything to an APO. So much for military overseas being supported.
