5 out of 5 eggsAs always, simple and easy to use

Pros: For what you get, this is a powerful package for a small computer. The included 1TB drive is SLOW, so buy another drive to become the primary. I also recommend the upgrade to 16GB of memory. With those two additions, you will be happy with this small wonder.

Cons: The 1TB drive is simply to slow for everyday usage.

Other Thoughts: I am running VMWare ESXi on my Mac Mini with 8 virtual machines and am very happy with the performance and reliability so far. I have an entire home lab created running Windows Servers, clients and OSX Server without any hiccups. This is not for the faint of heart, but a surprisingly good machine for doing just these kinds of things.

5 out of 5 eggsYou will like it

Pros: Small footprint. Very easy setup. Answer 3 or 4 questions, enter your Apple ID and Setup Assistant takes care of the rest. Quiet and boy is it fast. It literally took me longer to connect cables and run them so they looked tidy than it did to get up and running. Recognized my HDMI capable HDTV right away since I am using it as my monitor. It set the screen resolution and aspect ratio automatically. Time will tell on reliability.

Cons: No DVD drive and it would be nice if there was a User Guide. The Quick Start guide is a little lacking for those who are less than average computer savvy. It's available on line in Apple Support but you'd have to know that. The User Guide has some needed info on the wireless mouse and keyboard that the Quick Start Guide does not.

Other Thoughts: For those who have heard the horror stories about not being able to get the Apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse, or HDTV, to work during initial setup, worry not. The trick is to plug "whatever" into the ports on the back of the Mini and turn them all on (along with the mouse and keyboard) BEFORE you turn on the Mini. When you follow that sequence, the HDTV is recognized immediately. Setup Assistant sees that you have a wireless mouse and keyboard rather than USB ones, and takes you to a different branch in the setup utility. From there everything runs on auto-pilot. Painless.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat intro to Mac

Pros: Fast processor, large HDD, easily upgradable, decent graphics.

Cons: No dedicated graphics card, but most people will never notice. No optical drive or keyboard.

Other Thoughts: I bought 8GB of DDR3 1600 RAM and an Intel 180GB SSD also. I used very simple guides on You Tube and was able to make a Fusion drive. My Mini is now screaming fast. I am running dual 1080p Asus monitors. I can play Diablo III and Guild Wars 2 on medium high settings. Standard everyday usage is no problem for this Mini. If you create a Fusion drive just back up on Time Machine and use the kit from OWC. You can download OS 10.8 over the Internet if needed while in recovery mode. The version on the App Store does not work with the newer Mac Mini.
