5 out of 5 eggsFast, quiet with muscle to spare

Pros: I got one of these recertified. I dabble in audio and video production and I had upgraded my previous PC as far as I could. I was opting between building my own and a commercial PC I'd have to tweak and upgrade later, and I opted for this HP, but the recertified one. If you have any dear or doubt about recertified systems put them to rest. It's blazingly fast, and so far is rock solid. No problems in migrating all my audio and video software and hard peripherals to Vista. It used to take Sony Vegas 30 seconds of more to boot up. Now it takes 3-4 seconds. I won't quote the price I got it for, but it was a steal!

Cons: PSU (300W)
Graphics card if you're into gaming. But for my needs the onboard graphics are fine.
Limited to 4GB of RAM on 32-bit operating systems.
100Mb ethercard. I think by now we need to be talking GbE. I move around video files which are typically fairly large.

I may have to add an audio card. I dunno what kind of latency the Realtek has.

But these are all relatively simple upgrades.

Other Thoughts: The best thing I can say about it is, it's quiet! Thinking my ears were mistaken, I turned off the ceiling fan, the fan in the next room, and my D-Link NAS which remits a slight hum. You could hear a pin drop. I've never gotten a commerical PC that was this quiet. It always required additional upgrades, tweaks and padding to kill or muffle noise, which is critical for audio work especially if you're recording live. Hats off to HP for achieving out the box what I typically go to great means to eliminate.

4 out of 5 eggspretty nice set

Pros: runs smooth, doesnt get overpowered by simple operations, i bought a 24 inch HD flatscreen to upgrade and changing it over to the new screen and resolution was very simple, the media ports on the top of the unit work perfectly without hassle, the additional ports on the front of the machine help ease of use a lot

Cons: the keyboard it comes with is average at best and the mouse is pretty bad for the most part, it was bearable at first but i had to get a new mouse within 3 weeks, the video card is pretty lacking if youre planning on playing anything less than a two year old game

Other Thoughts: if all youre doing is just simple tasts, surfing the web, simple home stuff, this computer is about the best you can get, ive had it for almost a year now and the only problems are ones from my lack of experience in certain ways, if you want to play games, just add memory and a good video card and you'll be set

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good speed, good video cards, over-all good computer for the costs. The keyboard is a little bit different but once you get used to where the home, end, delete, and page up/down buttons are it's a good buy.
The card reader is nice and small right at the top and works nicely on all the medias it says it does.
The computer itself is very quiet, the on off button is on the top of the case which is nice for not having to lean down to turn it on stand-by, the IEEE port in the front and back is convenient, and the HD audio is great for your music collection (if you have HD speakers of course).

Cons: Vista, because everyone loves spending time uninstalling that resource hog.

Other Thoughts: The mouse that came with the computer is garbage, don't expect it to come with a mouse unless you like being able to click both the left and mouse buttons without even trying (HP's mouse is one constant flow, as if the left and right mouse button are one with the rest of the mouse).

I'm also a little uncomfortable with the CD drive, not really worth being a con but you have to close it by pushing it in and not pressing a button. This is known to break the belt inside it after time but nothing too big.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Absolutely perfect for the casual computer user. Runs vista with all the visual effects smoothly. Didn't take more than an hour to trash all the garbage these systems come with, but that was well worth it for the price, and performance I've received from it.

Cons: If all you want to do is play on the internet and maybe store music and all that basic stuff, there really isn't one bad thing about this computer.

Other Thoughts: The hard drive space being divided into two drives is nice. I'm OCD about organization. Or if you wanted to get snazzy, you can do a duel boot. That's probably not something someone who would buy this computer would do... but hey, the option is there. Good opportunity to learn Ubuntu or something, y'know?
