The SR-71 Blackbird holds the air speed record at over Mach 3, and has for over 30 years. It's engineering innovations have never been matched. HPs Blackbird 002, with help from the wizards at VoodooPC, may do the same for gaming computing. A completely-redesigned cast-aluminum chassis houses an innovative sealed liquid cooling system designed to keep this blazing system cool even in the hottest action. The bottom-mounted 900-watt power supply and performance-tuned components are housed in an eye-catching 3 chamber case specifically designed to permit airflow around all sides to carry away more heat.

An Intel Core 2 Quad Processor pushes 3D gaming to new heights, and dual SLI NVIDIA 9800GT graphics cards, backed by 4 Gigabytes of Corsair Dominator memory give you possibly more processing power than the space shuttle! Onboard 7.1 audio wraps you in an immersive audio experience to keep you on your game. Load the drives you need into five internal hot-swappable drive bays for holding onto all your media, from games to movies to graphics! Tool-less entry means fewer scraped knuckles and less cursing when you go to make modifications!

Combine all that with dedicated Blackbird support from HP, and it looks like a winning combination, ready to set a few records of its own in the gaming world!

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome machine 1/2 way

Pros: Easy setup, plug and play, powerful machine, easy access for upgrades. 4 monitors work out of the box, great price on this newegg deal that included a monitor plus the machine.

Cons: Only 1 drive, no RAID out of the box, No blu-ray, VERY HEAVY, no extended warranty plans with HP, package came with home premium instead of Vista ultimate, Using all 4 memory slots x1MB which meand I have to replace every peice of memory to upgrade to 8mb

Other Thoughts: Love the machine, 1/2 way. If you get a machine like this you don't want to go 1/2 way, I had to purchase additional HD's so I could have RAID1 OS and RAID1 Data sets (4 drives), a lightscribe Blu-ray dvd, and a TV tuner card. A machine with all this power shouldn't sit still with flimsy drive design.

Be VERY Careful when ordering things on NewEgg, they have a huge RMA policy that is very pricy and you sincerly pay for your mistakes. I purchsed extra drives, but they were the wrong ones. Check with the HP people before you do this, NewEgg doesn't know and you still get slammed if you return.

Just ordered some memory (checked with HP first) NewEgg has awesome prices, but again, be certain your getting the right thing.

Bottom line, this machine does it right 1/2 way. It will be a great machine without the enhancements I made, but I am a purist in solid design. Drives always go out and you never ever can have to much RAM.

2 out of 5 eggsOutdated & Overpriced

Pros: Strong parts.

The mouse, keyboard, etc. are of nice quality.

Cons: For the same price ($3000, not the $2600 special), you could get a far better computer if you assemble.

Other Thoughts: The self-assembled one would be something like this.

Case: Antec 1200
Motherboard: EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1
CPU: i7 Extreme Edition 965
GPU: EVGA 896-P3-1260-AR GeForce GTX 260 x2
Hard Drive: VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10000 RPM x2
CD/DVD Drive: Any
PSU: ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ1100 1100W

2 out of 5 eggslol

Pros: *I didn't buy it... lol
*Everything in the comp. is nice though...

Cons: *The technology is already outdated... The new i7 processors came out and maybe HP didn't realize that Nvidia made 280's?
*Only 4 gb of ram, only 500 gb hard drive...

Other Thoughts: *I've used my friend's Blackbird... It's already outdated and he spent 2200 bucks more than I did for my HP with only better graphics...
*I got an HP for 650 bucks... Phenom 9850 (2.5 ghz), 6 gb ram, 750 gb hard drive, TV tuner, 9800 gt... The only thing he beats me on is graphics (and maybe a little on Processor speed...), so all I did was slap in another 9800 gt and I laughed... overall I spent about 800 bucks and got the same as his computer...

3 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: Slick design, easy upgradeability, fun and virtually lagless gameplay.

Cons: Too heavy, and begins with somewhat pathetic components. Not worth the buy, 3,000 dollars can buy you a lot more folks. 9800 GT's, what is this, 2007? The HP Blackbird should have dual GTX 280's. The processor is a disappointment.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: I was afraid this PC would take over my desk because of its size, or be too loud because of its multi-fan cooling system. But to my surprise, my Blackbird fit snugly under my desk unobtrusively and runs quietly and efficiently.

The interior is well-crafted and easy to understand even for a hardware novice like myself. It's very satisfying knowing that I can easily install a new processor or new video cards once they become affordable to me.

The popout I/O section on the top panel is super convenient, and has saved me the hassle of fiddling behind the PC a number of times.

Performance-wise, this thing is a beast - video editing and gaming is a breeze.

Cons: Although I like Vista for its refreshing visuals and faster searching and system tools, it might be a concern for those who want to get every bit of power out of their PC. By default, Vista 64-bit will eat 1/3 of your 4GB of RAM. There's still plenty of memory to run a number of intensive programs simultaneously, but I thought I should just put it out there

Other Thoughts: Mine came from Newegg, bundled with a high-def 24" monitor, couldn't be happier with the results.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Design

Pros: This is a fantastic ,well thought out and designed machine..I am really impressed with the layout inside the case.Very clean and very easy to upgrade .The case is top notch and weighs around 70 lbs..The design allows the heat build up to leave the tower with ease and helps keep the inside as cool as posssible..The machine runs fantastic...It is a nice upgrade for me running my desktop on 1920 by 1200.It plays Crysis the way the game was meant to be displayed..Totally awsome..The Razor keyboard and mouse are decent.I must admitt I thought both were trash when I first used them. They were buggy but the firmware and driver updates fixed them right up.(I couldn't upgrade the firmware for the mouse on vista 64 bit.I had to flash the mouse on my Xp computer).I am very happy with my purchase and I am glad I got a computer that allows you to upgrade with parts on the open market..I already installed a raid o setup in it and threw in another dvd drive.Installation took mins. What a nice design..

Cons: I am getting tired of people saying you can build a better computer cheaper.Sure you can build a faster one but will you have one as clean inside and as well designed as the Blackbird?..When you buy a Blackbird you are paying for more then just parts and labor.Don't you think alot of time went into the design of it.

Other Thoughts: I am very happy with their tech support..When I setup my raid0 the Blackbird software and driver disc was unreadable.I emailed them ,and in a matter of minutes I got a reply and I had another disc (express shipped to me) in one day by them.No charge to me..My friend has used tech support on his Blackbird quite a few times and told me they are top notch and will help you with anything..I have used them once and received great service.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Blackbird w/24" Samsung Monitor

Pros: We purchased the HP Blackbird system as a business system for accounting, graphics design, video editing, photo editing, engineering and MS Office applications tied into an HP Network server. As a veteran owned small business we need systems that can do everything at speed. After evaluating many of the high end systems in the market, including Dell 730 series, Apple MacPro and Gateway we found the HP Blackbird provided the best value, performance and upgradability.

We are delighted with the performance of the HP Blackbird and 24" Samsung Monitor purchased through Newegg. We followed the instructions, read the manuals, connected the systems and were up and running immediately. We run both XP Pro and now Vista on our network and have no issues to report. As Tom Cruise would say if you have a need for speed this system is where it is at, particularly when combined with the new Samsung 24" monitor.

Cons: None, a very positve experience with Newegg, HP Blackbird and the Samsung display.

Other Thoughts: If you are considering a new computer system, accesories, hardware or software Newegg offers great value, tracking and service.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Machine, kind of overpriced.

Pros: Great Machine, Very Fast, Stable, Sexy!, etc.

Cons: I could build this machine for much less than 3k, dual 9800gts are not expensive, the 9450 isnt all that expensive, all in all, I dont see the justification for this.

Other Thoughts: If your this heavy a gamer, you should have the know-how to build yourself a machine this good for a thousand dollars less.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Support

Pros: Unique design. Fast system, good support department. It's surprisingly quiet, but then again that's just the liquid cooling. Easy access to most components in the box and a great conversation piece. 24" monitor is no joke.

Cons: Can't upgrade CPU and cooling device as easily. The mouse and keyboard has very unstable compatibility with Window VISTA included, i tossed them for Logitech, could've saved an extra $150 off of that. 3 weeks after using my bird my PSU burnt out, VooDoo HP support department was excellent in mailing me a new one. (their phone number and serial number is right inside the case) Installed new PSU and it turned out my Mobo went bad along with the PSU so I had to RMA the entire 70lb monster -- bad news was i destroyed the huge box it came in. Good news was Voodoo HP support dept mailed me a new shipping box (wow) and allowed me to bill all the shipping to their UPS account. Took a week and a half but i got my bird back running like new and didn't cost a single penny. Also -- Sprained my back carrying it upstairs alone.

Other Thoughts: Seriously great product and a great customer support department to back it up. Worth the extra money you plug it into, just wish warranty was longer. This is the Retail version so you have no choice but to take what they give you -- though customizing it, I recommend you leave out the mouse and keyboard option.
