Runs Great, No Windows 7 Upgrade

Bought 2 of these for my company. They both run very well, are quiet and the cases are a breeze to work with.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat home office PC

Pros: Very sturdy, clean, and sleek-looking case, very quiet operation. Has the power to run two high definition videos simultaneously with nary a stutter. Gamers would want to upgrade the video, but it's more than adequate for non-gaming use.

Came with "Microsoft" Vista CD (as opposed to one of those vanilla OEM copies) and Lenovo Drivers CD (It's my understanding that some manufacturers don't automatically include CD's anymore).

Cons: Straight out of the box, the PC didn't start or even power up. Turned out the RAM needed to be re-seated.

Pre-installed with Vista 64-bit Home Premium on one huge partition, making it difficult to preserve as-shipped configuration for repartitioned disk for Windows 7 (best with clean install). Windows 7 upgrade was honored by Lenovo, but charged $17 for S & H. Got notice of it being shipped last night (two weeks after ordering).

Other Thoughts: This review based on same computer that two weeks ago was additionally configured with a wireless LAN card and an HDTV tuner with remote.

When I reported the PC didn't fire up, Newegg was quick to offer an RMA had I needed to return it.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate To previous Post K230(5359-4PU)

Pros: Lenovo Box is solid, and smart looking, quite impressed. It qualifies for Win 7 upgrade. 6Gigs of DDR3. Mine came with Wireless Lan, and TV card. Quad 2 core 8200. For those of you that look at such things it has an Intel MB. It's quiet!

Cons: PS is only 280W, Vista (Ugh)
No dedicated video.

Other Thoughts: YES you can get Win 7 upgrade. Lenovo site is very poor, just wait while the offsite screen refreshes. It's a 3rd party handling upgrade, not Lenovo.
Out of the box it's really fine. I choose to lose the 280W PS.
Pulled out the TV card, ( it won't work without a set top box anyway). Pulled the wireless lan out ( no need)
Installed Win 7 64 bit Pro ( My OEM copy). Pulled out 640G HD and installed 150G WD Raptor HD. Installed 550W BFG PS.
Installed BFG GeForce 8800 GTS. Now it screams....;)
2 weeks ago it was $200 less...and got more...go figure

4 out of 5 eggsGood Work machine

Pros: Box comes with good memory qty and HD. Video is lacking but purchased a 9500 GT and works great even though PSU is small

Cons: Onboard Video is a little lacking, but for a work station (non gaming) its good.

4 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Free Upgrade? How?

Pros: Quiet

Cons: I tried again and again on Lenovo website and talked with their support center, but could not get the $17.03 "free" upgrade. How did you guys do it?

Other Thoughts: Bought a EVGA GeFORCE 9500 GT video card, but it requires min. 350W, while this box has only 280W. What's the danger by just plugging in the video card without swapping the PSU to a bigger one?

5 out of 5 eggsNot a review yet

Pros: I had it in less than a day!! I had to give props to New Egg for their quick, free, shipping!

Will review it when the family opens it for Christmas.

Cons: Only Con was that it wasn't in a plain brown New Egg box, so the family knew what it was before I got home to wrap it.

5 out of 5 eggsNow With Windows 7 Upgrade

Pros: I'm re-reviewing this product, as I once again tried to get the windows 7 upgrade, and the model is now supported according to Lenovo's upgrade website. Once again, it is a fast machine, quiet, easy to to get to the guts of the machine, and had a great price.

Cons: Intel GMA 3100. Weak, but it is a business computer. Not necessary for a higher powered graphics solution for my needs. A discrete graphics solution would, of course, greatly enhance the graphics horsepower of the computer.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Windows 7 Upgrade

Pros: Good value (if Windows 7 Upgrade included)

Cons: Not eligible for Windows 7 Upgrade. Website of Lenovo puts no qualifications on model for the upgrade. Newegg website did not say it was not eligible for upgrade. Very upset!

4 out of 5 eggsNo Windows 7 upgrade through Lenovo

Pros: FAST and relatively clean design. Flash card reader is a nice bonus. Was Considering a Dell before I saw this deal through Newegg. Great deal too.

Cons: Took off one star because Newegg didn't state that the win 7 upgrade would not apply on this model, other than that Newegg got it here in a jif.

4 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Fast and Quiet

Cons: On board video card is inadequate for games. It caused PC to crash each time the Eve game is played.

Other Thoughts: After failing to get OS upgrade, I called Lenovo support. After waiting an hour, I finally got to talk to a live person, who told me to try end of Dec. By then this model may be added to the qualified list. I am keeping my hope at this stage.
