1 out of 5 eggsInvest in something better.

Pros: Cheaper than most used computers. Was fast and more than adequate for light computer use.

Cons: Didn't last as long as I expected it to.

Other Thoughts: I bought this computer in January of 2012. I thought it was a great deal that Newegg was offering at the time (less than $150) and it was pretty adequate for my usual day to day classwork, so I purchased it. Initially, I did have problems with the operating system and my personal technician had to re-install the Windows program that was on it. Things were fine for awhile, but after about five months of use, the computer all of a sudden began to cut off and reboot for no apparent reason. It did it repeatedly and I was extremely frustrated with this machine. So I called my personal technician back and he told me (after he looked at it for a few days) that the motherboard was failing and to replace it will cost about as much as I had initially spent on it and that I would better off getting something better and newer. I don't believe the warranty lasted as long I've had it, so now I'm out of a computer and I have to depend on my daughter's computer to get my work done. I probably won't be purchasing another and I definitely don't recommend buying this computer.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Little Computer, If it Works...

Pros: Cheap
Windows XP

Cons: Old Processor
Only 1 GB RAM

Other Thoughts: Ordered 2 of these at same time. One did not get past a power up checkout. Had to ship back to Newegg for refund, as no replacements were available. I was a little disapointed that a unit would ship and fail such a simple test. It's not like i had to get anything going, there was no display to the monitor.
I'm a little new to ordering online, and was pretty unhappy that i had to spend $ to send a defective unit back, but in the end Newegg says they will make that right for me. So overall, i'm happy with the one machine i got and will probably buy another one from these guys.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: Great unit for the price. I upgraded this to 4gb RAM right away and installed Linux on it.

Cons: BIOS came out of date, needed to upgrade that. Does not support 64-bit "guest" OS's when using virtualization software such as VMWare or Virtualbox.

Other Thoughts: After 3 months of use, the hard drive is showing bad clusters and the system board is showing "bulging capacitors". I have sent a request for warranty service, so we will see how that goes.

5 out of 5 eggsGot Only One

Pros: Can save all my old stuff I didnt want to loose. XP PRO, beats out my 2002 Xp home. Even corrects spelling ! So its flat on desk, its a Pro 4 me cause its small and it fits under my monitor stand, Fits Perfect next to my Slimline. And info says I can use 2 monitors with the 8808, havent needed to yet. Has 10 USB 2.0, I was lucky to have 4 on my old HP, They Were 1.1 USBs LOL. Opens like a Tackle box, NICE ! Quiet ! Power and running lites on front. All updated wiring, including sata for DVDs CDs which will be gone soon. 1 GB Ram is Unheard of for me, on my old PC, I can even Double it for $20. I had an Intel 4 before, Sticker on 8808 says Intel D, googled it, GREAT ! 80 Gb HDD fine, I never used more than half of it on my old PC and I kept Lots of pics and music ! Im not planning to load movies here.

Cons: Front DVD access bad, has flap in front of it so you have to push really hard on double button to do the drawer functions, Found that the flap comes down to fully expose the DVD, but then that blocks access to stuff under that, Removed Flap with Extreme Prejudice ! LOL. I had to Validate 3 times, but it finally worked, I forgot to dig under the windows to the bottom one ! Love it ! Scared me for a while. Gotta have alot of Patience with these. Had to toss mouse, not cause it was cheap it was causing problems. Oh and its Not as Fast as a $2,000 i7 Desktop, Fully Loaded !! But Its just as good to me for the chump change I paid for this.

Other Thoughts: Faster than my 2002 HP new for $1000, LOL, had the 1st XP on it. Im glad the thing broke down finally or Id have missed this deal. Wish Id have bought 2, too late now.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: I bought this computer for a friend who just does some basic things with her computer. Email, surfing the web, citrix to work, editing a few word docs.

-Pretty quick machine, handles what she needs no problem.
-Came with XP SP3 pre-installed, activated no problem (remember to set your computers date/time correctly :)
-Handles Libre Office pretty well

Cons: -No room for a slave drive.

I was hoping to throw the HDD from the old machine into the new one, there is simply no room for anything extra. No biggie though. Just keep that in mind.

Other Thoughts: Overall for bang for the buck, this is a great machine. Don't be afraid of the "refurb" on this. Pull it out of the box, boot it up, set the date/time, start updating. Nothing to it.

Keep in mind this is not a high end computer. It's a great "I just surf the web, send emails" computer.

1 out of 5 eggsDamaged/not working parts

Pros: Product arrived promptly on time.

Cons: Mouse came in several pieces. I am unable to fix it and get it to work. Connected computer to my monitor, but keyboard would not work. Strangely some keys work and others don't. I was able to get to the screen where I need to enter product key. But cannot get past that, as some keys don't work and I cannot enter the full product key. So I really don't know the actual quality of the computer itself. I don't have another USB keyboard or USB mouse. This computer can only connect to USB keyboard, unable to connect any other keyboard. Will try to send it back as soon as I can get hold of a customer service person.

4 out of 5 eggsRefurb THinkCentre

Pros: Price, price, price! I picked this up for $120 to replace an old PC for our CSR. She didn't need anything fancy, so this fit the bill. Preloaded with Windows XP Pro SP3. No bloatware. New USB Keyboard and Mouse. Ordered this unit around 4pm yesterday and it arrived at 9:30am today. That was with the Free Shipping option and Rush Processing for $3.99. It's hard to beat a turnaround time like that for that cost! 5 eggs for price and shipping.

Cons: When I took the unit out of the box I noticed a power cable that was sandwiched between the front USB hub and fascia. Opening the case quickly resolved this issue, however, it highlighted a new one. The inside of this computer was fairly dusty. I know this is a refurb, but it would have been nice if the distributor hit the inside with some pressurized air before shipping it. 3 eggs for cleanliness and quality of assembly.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this computer will do exactly what we need it to do at a fantastic price! The quick delivery and price compensate some for the messy innards and poor assembly (both of which were fully resolved with 5 minutes of attention). If the computer had been cleaned first, this would have been a 5 egg rating. If it had taken a week and been sold at the pre-discount $199 price, it would have been a 3 egg.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased...

Pros: Nice sturdy case. I was a bit surprised at how solid and heavy this computer was. The case was clean. Set up was a snap. Came installed with Windows XP Professional. (Nice OS for my uses) Came with a keyboard and mouse, and has a tiny internal speaker installed. Nice unit.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this computer as a back up PC, strictly for entertainment use. (to play DVDs, movies files, music, emulated games and older PC Games) After a little testing I found it fits my needs perfectly.

It's not as sexy as some of the newer computers, but it's a workhorse. Once I install all the programs and codecs, it will do everything I need it to do, without the restrictions many of the new devices have built in. :-) Old school...kinda.

Also, the unit was very inexpensive. After all the available discounts I paid about $100, with free delivery. My hat's off to you Newegg! Thank you!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Little Machine

Pros: Bought this for my girlfriend bundled with Corel Paintshop Photo Pro. Ran right of of box. Does everything my girlfriend needs it for (i.e. browsing, running the program, and playing Sims 3). Came with a keyboard and mouse.

Cons: Keyboard a little small. Mouse and keyboard kind of low quality (but this was expected).

Other Thoughts: Photo programs lags a bit, but I'm going to upgrade the RAM and all should be well. All and all, this is a steal for the price. Works perfectly for your average user.

4 out of 5 eggsLenovo refurb

Pros: Works out of the box. Came with 'new' keyboard and mouse.
Fairly quiet. Perfect for 90+% of people who largely surf and do email.
You don't need an expensive box to do that.

Cons: Getting rid of crapware from M$. I've been using Linux and forgot the M$ nag and pain.

Other Thoughts: Wanted to see how it worked with XP M$. Will install Linux next.
Why do I pay the M$ tax?
