5 out of 5 eggsgreat buy, all you need

Pros: cheap, works, all you need

Cons: nothing much

Other Thoughts: this can play all the valve source games and is completly worth what you pay. its cheap but all you need if all you do is go on the internet and use it for a bit of media.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Home PC

Pros: Great Home PC for an average user.

Cons: Only 1 Gig of Ram....Not bad but would run much smoother with 2 Gig. Overall A Good PC.

Other Thoughts: Bought for my Sister and she loves it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cheap Computer

Pros: This is a nice little computer for the price I payed for it. It does everything I need to to at moderately fast speed.

Cons: The only down-sides of this machine are the RAM and Video Card, both easily remedied for little money.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the money

Pros: Simple setup. Good performance. Easy access to the motherboard. 250 watts power supply has been sufficient so far.

At the current sale price, it's like buying Vista Home Premium and getting a PC thrown in for free.

Cons: Not the most attractive case. Nag screens for Norton, etc. No instructions on how to restore system from the partition.

Other Thoughts: My 5 egg rating is based on what you get for the price. I have no idea how HP/Compaq or Newegg make any money on these boxes.

PS/2 keyboard is like that of a laptop but seems to work well.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Comptuer

Pros: Nice computer windows vista $311 dual core easy to setup

Cons: no speakers, no boot cd the backup to reinstall is on a partion on the hard drive, 1 gig of ram isn't enough

Other Thoughts: Nice computer just order 1 gig of ram with it and you got a nice setup and if you need a gamer just order a pci express video card and your good to go for about 500 bucks

3 out of 5 eggsCompaq's low end computer

Pros: The price is right, very low.

Cons: There are only two SATA connections on the motherboard; two more connections have been blanked off. There is one IDE PATA connection for two drives on the usual ribbon cable. The 160 gig hard drive and the DVD drive occupy the SATA connections. You have to be creative to get more hard drive space. I installed a 40 gig PATA disk and put Linux on it.

Other Thoughts: As you can see from newegg's pictures, no reinstall disks are included. There's a 10 gig partition at the end of the disk containing recovery, reinstall data. A program is included to create recovery disks from that data. A Microsoft sticker with the Product Key is attached to the case. That Key a Vista DVD,
from another souce, say an Upgrade that you have bought, will probably get Vista installed and activated.

5 out of 5 eggswow.

Pros: Cheap, powerful, warranty, no reliance on the 14 y/o nephew needed. Completely XP down-gradable.

Cons: It's still a Compaq (but not from 1997).

Other Thoughts: I'm an IT manager (mangler), so I have a little experience to back me up here. I started a side job, and needed XP Pro & Ubuntu server (Apache dev). Basically, didn't even look at Vista, and went straight into first boot w/ XP CD. Worked like a dream. Downloaded all the drivers from the Compaq website for XP and was good to go. Ubuntu has 100% support for the hardware out of the box. This thing burns some CPU cycles for threaded apps and development is cake. I'd buy 10 if I had a need for me. Rock solid.

5 out of 5 eggsCompaq

Pros: Well actually i have yet to test this product out, but as i sit here typing i realize i am typing on a 12yr old compaq pc, which kind of sparked my interest in renewing my interest in compaq's if this old one that has a 633mhz celeron processor that maxes out at 512mb of sdram can still function and run as it is suppose to then im putting my money/faith on my newly order compaq to do the same, time will only tell, but for the spec's its what i am looking for nforce/nvidia chipsets, with an amd dual core 4200+ am2 processor, still able to upgrade from the 1gig ram in the comp up to 4gigs! that has to be nice, though it only has one pci-e slot so no sli setup, for the price im sure if you stuck in a nice card it would still handle fairly to quite well in my opinion.

Will post back more after i have tested the product thoroughly enough to see if it was worth my money or not

Cons: only 2 slots of ram, meaning having to buy 2x2gig ram to bump it up to 4gigs, but could also be nice, but i have been a fan mainly of 1gig sticks and have heard negative reactions about most 2gig sticks,

also one pci-e slot, wish there was 2 pci-e slots for the sli setup but for this price you are paying for what you get, and i have yet to check out for how high this mobo can handle for processors, if i ever try to upgrade in processors and if i am able to if the mobo lets me.

Other Thoughts: i think it is a great low to mid range gaming computer, also severally great for business computers, i think this computer will let me run most of my games at a lvl that i will be happy with, as well as multi-task programs as much as i want without having but a slight slow down in processing speed, which should hardly be noticed, like i said i will give more of a thorough explanation after about a week or 2 of use!

as i stated earlier if this compaq is anything like the compaq that i am on right on then i think it is something for the books, i think/hope these are built to last.
