Good Value
- Pros: Small, Fast, Low fan noise, runs cool, good value
- Cons: Gateway support is POOR, User manual has NO content
- Other Thoughts: DVD eject button --- use the key board eject key
Front door port door --- easy to remove door
Great Home Computer
- Pros: I bought this computer for my parents who needed an upgrade from a 7 year old computer. This gateway offers exceptional speed, memory, and such for a great price. Also, the computer case is smaller than most, I installed this one on the computer desk for my folks because it fit and thus, is easier to access. I recommend this computer to anyone except gamers, this is a great machine.
- Cons: Like I said, this really isn't the gaming machine. The computer is offered at a reasonable price because of the onboard graphics. Don't get me wrong, you can still watch movies, edit media, and do the normal email or office applications with ease, but gamers will not get their desirable rates.
The front access panel (audio, usb, 1394, xd/sd/mmc/ms/mspro) is located on the bottom of the case, which might annoy some people (personal preference), especially those who will setup this case on the floor. In my opinion, not a big enough problem to look over this machine.
- Other Thoughts: If you are reading the other reviews and are worried about the backup disk error, you need not worry.
Simply go to
http://support.gateway.com/s/issues/ery4update.shtml
and download the upgrade, once you upgrade, you will not have any problems creating a backup disk. You can use any CD's or DVD's. Personally, I recommend using a DVD (only takes 3 DVD's)
Nice Machine But
- Pros: low cost, Compact, minimal bloat ware, as advertised
- Cons: Problem with machine at start-up, will need to replace. When unit is turned off from windows it powers down and then starts back up again. Since the unit is a low price and now I will have to ship back for replacement, probably would have been better off to buy local...
