5 out of 5 eggsHappy With It

Pros: Price vs Specs is why I bought this PC and I must say I'm happy with my decision to purchase the system. Works great with my mid-level games, no lag whatsoever with my editing system, and super quiet.

Cons: -No paperwork, had to look up online manual.
-Power Supply being 100 watts short of what graphic card recommends (haven't noticed it though)

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Super quiet...I can't even tell it's on. Convenient locations for USB ports and card reader slots. Love the top "tray" area w/USB ports; it's where I charge my stuff!

Cons: Can't think of any!

4 out of 5 eggsIncredible deal

Pros: Extremely efficient machine incredibly fast
Lots of USB ports
Burns CDs in 3 or 4 minutes
Super quiet machine I hardly even notice it's on

Cons: The DVD player sticks on this I have to go to my computer right click and eject this way
I spent several hours trying to get the TV tuner card to work and I couldn't get it
Gateway support is terrible if you need lots of assistance this may not be the machine for you. Even though there is a voucher for a free copy of Windows 7 for the machine I was told Gateway can't assist me with the tuner card since Vista was the original OS on the machine (seemed to me this was ridiculous). For the tuner card I even tried installing the new driver recommeded by one of the other Newegg buyers and downloaded it off of Gateway's site (I still couldn't get it to work).
Low voltage on power supply but so far I haven't had any problems.
The speakers, mouse, and keyboard are pretty cheap quality I am using my old accessories.

Other Thoughts: Overall I really like this computer. I installed Windows 7 and I love it. I gave up on the TV tuner card and bought a Hauppage and it works great with Windows Media Center. I can run multiple windows at once and Media Center without any lagging.
I gave the machine 4 eggs due to my problems with the tuner card and Gateway's support.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Machine

Pros: I'd have to say that this machine is a decent bang for the buck, the integrated vid card is decent for mid range gaming, an the 8gb of memory is more than adequate even if its only running at 400mhz. The integrated wirless card is decent an i just ditched the Tv tuner for an all in wonder i already had. couple days after having this i decided to upgrade the graphics... yes it only has a x16 1.0 slot but i slapped a 5750 in it anyway and noticed a DRAMATIC improvement.... had to replace the power supply but that was no big deal. Even with all the replacements i did it still runs nice an cool never rising over 50c even under the torture i put it through. All in all with the free 7 upgrade id say that this is really a decent machine for the buck.

Cons: None really. havent had any issues with this machine so far.

Other Thoughts: OH added bonus... while i was unpacking this baby i discovered that it came with something not mentioned in the description.... comes with a media center remote..... i only use it when im bein lazy or usin my computer as a stereo but i kinda liked suprise. ONE MORE THING.... theres no QA sticker on the side panel... so when you go to remove it..... well if something goes wrong with yer system an youve made modifications... just replace what was originally in there.... no one the wiser lol.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good system

Pros: 1) Free Windows 7 upgrade
2) SDHC card reader
3) TV Tuner
4) Media Center remote is a nice extra

in short--lots of nice peripheral goodies. Good price = good value. I would purchase this machine again.

Cons: 1) Comes loaded with Windows Vista (AND a pesky OEM EISA Recovery partition).
2) Power supply seems a little underpowered for future upgrades.
3) Only 4 USB ports on the rear I/O (plus 4 additional on top and rear--but those are more for thumb drives and external HDD instead of accessory devices--no one wants their printer cable coming out the front of their machine.
4) No external SATA ports
5) Weird plastic shield on front of case covers drive door--I guess this is the new thing.
6) When I went to order my "free" Windows 7 upgrade it sent me to a third party website where you fill out an order form and they mail the software upgrade kit to you. However, when I put in my serial number it stated that my s/n was already used to order an upgrade kit and would not let me finish the order. Another chat with Gateway and now it is a waiting game.

Other Thoughts: 1) I dumped OEM partition using diskpart.exe (clean all) from the cmd prompt in OS boot menu. Then I clean installed Windows 7 x64 (LOVE IT!)--got rid of all the Gateway and promo software garbage!
2) TV Tuner driver was a challenge, talked to Gateway and found out the TV Tuner is: YUAN PG583. In the device manager it was showing up generically as a video controller. I downloaded the driver from the Gateway support site. However, they only had 32 bit drivers listed for the PG583. So I downloaded a different one (Yuan_TV_Tuner_PCIe_SW_ATSC_V6.0.64.0059) which was listed as a driver for Win 7 x64 for a different tuner card in another Gateway system--worked like a charm! Now under device mgr it shows under video controller: "Hybrid ATSC/QAM PCI-E AVS Video Capture (SoftEncoder)." Now I am getting my digital & analog cable channels (including HD programming!) and can record programming in Media Center with the touch of a remote button!

HD video runs fine for me. Has lots of RAM and Vid

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Deal

Pros: Fast machine, streams video like a champ via PlayOn. Graphic card is more then adequate for moderate gaming that I do. Comes with tuner card & HDMI out. It's a ready to go Media Center (once Windows 7 arrives). Setup was easy.

Cons: Other then Vista, what's not to like? Awesome machine for the price.

Other Thoughts: The Windows 7 upgrade is free but obviously takes a few weeks to get to you as I have not received it yet. The upgrade is not available via download. Looking forward to the new Media Center.

1 out of 5 eggsTuner not working, Support nonexistent

Pros: Computer arrived, it is much faster than previous five year old computer. Fast enough for the money, Im not a gamer so didn't need a smoking system.

Cons: EVERYTHING must be closed to watch 720p without lagging. On top of that media center cannot find the TV tuner, it is not in the hardware profile of the computer. There is no way to access it. Trying to get ahold of gateway customer service was hell, finally was able to get directed to a message saying that MPC purchased the customer service in 2007? MPC has gone out of business. There is no help.

Other Thoughts: Don't get it. It looks like a bargain but it is not worth your time. Once you have it you'll be out on an island trying to get it working.

4 out of 5 eggsgood deal

Pros: More than decent speed for the price, runs music software really nice, not a glitch and cpu runs low all the time, good multitasking as well, haven't tried games with it yet but did not buy it for that, although I'm sure it will at least run all the new stuff, lowest windows score was 5.5 so that's ok for the price. The case design is not top notch but very handy with all the connectors on top

Cons: A little noisy, could probably use use some better fans, not worth a cooling system though, having to upgrade to win7 is not so appealing but shouldn't be a reason not to save some buck (on prebuilt pcs) and time if your lazy to build your own or just don't know how to.

Other Thoughts: this pc should be good for at least a year or more, just slap in a newer vid card and it should be for even longer.

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: All the specs for a very low price. Good video card, quad processor, 8gb ram, 1TB hard drive.

Cons: Power supply is very basic. Was not able to install old dvd burner because it didn't have have appropriate power cords. Would have been nice to have Win 7 preinstalled but you can get a free upgrade through Gateway.

Other Thoughts: With the spec I was expecting a faster cpu. I upgraded from an AMD Dual Core with 4gb and I can't tell the difference in speed.
