1 out of 5 eggsWaste of time and energy

Pros: Takes up minimal space

Cons: Based on these marvelous customer reviews, I ordered this item at the end of April. When it arrived, the DVD drive would not open, except via the control panel. I returned it to Newegg for a replacement. The replacement model arrived a month after I had placed my initial order, and this one would not boot up. Customer service promised me 3-day shipping on the third try / second replacement machine. When my RMA was delivered to Newegg, they issued my bank a refund instead of shipping a replacement. Looking for the PC on Newegg.com, I see that it's been discontinued! I wonder why?

This is two months after my initial purchase, and today I was told (by a manager) that this is a rare situation and that they're sorry but there's really nothing he can do to correct it. REALLY??? No upgrade to a better machine (one that works!) for a better price, free overnight shipping, nothing at all to make this right for the customer? That's pretty appalling customer service, I must say.

Other Thoughts: Also in my initial order, I purchased a speaker set that was DOA. That had to be replaced, too...

Unfortunately, I have to recommend avoiding shopping at Newegg. I have ordered from them in the past (years ago) and had good experiences, so I expected the same this time. What a disappointment. Use their site for the reviews and go buy your stuff locally -- at least that way you can deal with these issues in a timely way and face-to-face with a real person who might actually care whether or not you come back.

I only give it one egg because I can't give it zero.

And, Newegg, if you edit this review out, you must realize that's stifling my right to free speech AND it's incredibly dishonest to your other customers.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent, multifunction PC

Pros: * Fantastic value and very good versatility--excellent specifications for the price.
* 1TB HDD (compare with similarly priced machines)
* Small form factor is easy to fit into small rooms, desks, entertainment centers, etc.
* Quiet and inoffensive
* Processor is snappy for the price, and the system delivers solid graphics performance and flawless video playback (I've tested up to 1080p).

Bottom Line: The very good specs and form factor, coupled with the very reasonable price, make it ideal for many roles. I can easily see this as an office workstation or a perfect HTPC. It's also a good base for a build-your-own system.

Mine is being tested and configured as a gift for my grandfather.

Cons: * I had to RMA the first unit that I received. (Newegg support was fantastic, incidentally). Because the comments are overwhelmingly positive, and because the second system is working flawlessly, I think it's fair to say that this was an outlier and I will not deduct any eggs for this.
* No wireless capability out of the box (I'm using a USB dongle, you can probably use a PCI/e card to do it).
* No room for a second drive, so it will never be a brilliant gaming computer, which would require an SSD (hopefully in addition to the 1TB drive). Grandfather won't care.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended as a gift, for general computing, HTPC, or office workstation (albeit with high graphics performance compared with CPU for a traditional workstation).

Certainly good for tinkering, but the small form factor and space for only one drive might limit people who want to use it as a base for a gaming PC. Highly inappropriate for server use (but no one would use it for that).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for the buck

Pros: Fast CPU and mobo, large hard drive, 4 RAM slots, 64-bit OS, small footprint

Cons: Small con... I love the small profile, but there's no room to fit a second hard drive in there.

Other Thoughts: This is the second one I've purchased for our office. I added two more sticks of 2GB RAM (now 8GB total) and the system runs very fast.

5 out of 5 eggsIt just got better!

Pros: Everything. I'm just "updating" my previous review with new data......
I dropped in (well, installed!) a 120GB Mushkin Chronos Enhanced SSD that I got here for $125, loaded the Gateway recovery from 3 dvd discs I previously burned, and.....WOW!!!
In about 20 seconds from power on button push I am in Windows and ready to rock! The Gateway Win7 Home Premium install does not have a lot of fluff installed with it. The total install is about 30GB. I love this computer even more! The install was pretty simple too, just a few screws and you've got the drive cage in your hand with the DVD and the HD. Remove a few screws to take out the HDD, a few new screws to install the SSD in its 3.5" adapter. Re-install the whole drive cage and button it all back up. AHCI was already enabled in the BIOS. Run the Gateway recovery and in a short while it's back to factory spec. The most worthwhile upgrade I can see!

Cons: Nothing. I also "FOUND" my multi-channel sound by plugging an optical cable from my Sony Bravia 46" to my AVR, and the Sony passes the audio direct from the HDMI. Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS, you name it, it's there! Gee, that was easy!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome so far...!

Pros: Price, Value, Small Footprint, Speed, Graphics, USB3.0. I wanted to upgrade my HTPC from a re-purposed AMD Athlon 64x2 5200+ and spent a fair bit of time on researching and deciding what I want (balanced against what I need!) and decided to throw my lot into this little guy. After only 18 hours I have NOT regretted my decision in the least. This little thing RAWKS! It's mostly to rum XBMC for my Movie and TV Show library and various other videos. For a significant cost less than I paid for the Athlon 64, this A6-3600 is quite a step up. Not HUGE, but remarkably noticeable. And USB3 is awesome! Overall, this is a great computer and perfect for a Home Theater PC. I use it with a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard (with trackpad) and an MCE remote. I have a 120GB SSD coming in a few days that will raise the stakes in a big way. The graphics are top notch. I was surprised by the WEI scores this box produced - much higher than the Athlon. For a good low cost do-it-all box, this one is there!

Cons: No Digital Audio out. That's really the only thing I can see. I've got a cheap 7.1 sound card coning with optical out to connect to my AVR for multi-channel sound. It's not a a big con, but it's something that keeps it from being perfect. Add optical out, and there's nothing else this box needs.

Other Thoughts: I'm pairing this with a Cineraid box that came at the same time from the Newegg promo w/ WD 2TB EARS drive, and got a EARX 2TB as well. That setup is working great. I have two other 2TB drives coming for an 8TB Raid 5. I know this is a great overall computer, and computing solution, but I'm constraining my review to my usage - HTPC. I would not hesitate to use this as a "daily driver" though. And Newegg always gets stuff here quick, and in perfect condition. I love it when you can downsize the footprint and upsize the quality and power. This little Gateway was a great jump in that direction. Thanks Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsA great buy

Pros: over all i give it a 5: its pros are:
*mildly quiet (if left on for hours makes small noises)
*strong choice for a person getting a new computer but not wanting to have to upgrade, or just first buy
*1 tb HDD and 4 gb of memory good enough

Cons: over all no problems or cons but 1:

5 out of 5 eggslove it

Pros: Great running - low profile, it's 1/4 the size of the dinosaur we replaced with this... will be upgrading the RAM to max asap, 4g is a bit on the slow side...

Cons: the keyboard leaves a lot to be desired -- the "g" key doesn't like to make contact most of the time - in fact, the keystrokes need to be heavier in general, I feel like I'm going to punch right thru it sometimes...

5 out of 5 eggsSlim and Powerful

Pros: I've been a Gateway owner ever since I owned a computer for about 8 years and have never been disappointed. I'm very impressed with the Gateway SX2370-UR30P and first time that I hooked a monitor up with an HDMI cord and love it. I watch a lot of programs on the computer and graphics are awesome. It also has all the power a I need for everyday tasks

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Updating Last Post

Cons: Nothing more to add here

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to add that now since I have had this for a little longer I have noticed the drive isn't a noisy as it was before so maybe it just needed to run a little to work that out.

I absolutely love my new computer!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: Price/Value (noting out there compares, Quad Core, USB 3.0 (2 ports for when you want to upgrade to an external HDD that is faster then 2.0 speeds), 1TB HDD, SFF (Small Form Factor) for those that don't know what this means it is less than half the size of the old Desktop cases and perfect for sitting just about anyplace you want to use for anything you want, Black with Highlight Lights that you can choose to turn off, HDMI video port, RAM up-gradable to 16 GB.

Cons: Only 4 GB Ram, Noisy Super Multi-Drive.

Other Thoughts: I can't stress enough about how much value you are getting in this computer. Can be used on any entertainment system that supports HDMI or as a work/office/student computer and everything in between. As to the low RAM I knew what I was buying and although that is not that low it was low considering the mother board allows up to 16 GB and I will be upgrading it soon. I know I haven't had this long but I love this computer and it didn't come with much crapware either that I had to clean off. I wasn't sure about buying a Gateway and have always had a bad taste in my mouth for that brand but value made me do it and I will update this review if I find any glaring issues. Otherwise you must assume that I love this computer as much as day one. LOL
