4 out of 5 eggsFor the price, you can't beat it

Pros: Gen 4 I5 chip, 8gb of memory, very decent keyboard, nice upgrade to Windows 8.1, 1TB 7200 HD

Cons: Only 6 USB outlets, including two 3.0 USB. could have been more generous. They still have PS/2 jacks for ancient keyboards and mouse.??? That's like a cassette tape player.

Other Thoughts: I usually don't upgrade computers, so I don't care about that. Would recommend this strongly for people who want a lot of computer for the monehy

3 out of 5 eggsFiendishly Difficult to Upgrade

Pros: - Sleek Chassis.
- Great specs for the price.
- Spiffy Keyboard and Mouse.
- Windows 8 is actually kind of refreshing to use.

Cons: - You must remove the motherboard to remove the expansion slot covers. They're soldered to the case for no discernible reason.
- There's this metal cover thing that covers the other 5.25" drive bay that takes a couple of minutes to pry off.
- To add an ssd, you have to remove the hdd cage, remove the hdd, and screw the ssd in precariously.
- The psu comes with no additional connectors. I couldn't even find a spare molex cable (I needed one :/)
- The motherboard is connected to the psu via a proprietary 12pin connection. This means that in order to upgrade the psu, you must first replace the motherboard.
- Only pcie 1.0 (its not a big deal, but it is a little frustrating).
- Poor cable management and airflow are mediocre.

Other Thoughts: I slapped in an epower juicebox into the 5.25" drive bay to power an 128gb ssd and a 280x/gtx 770 (I'm buying the vga on black friday).

Note that none of these problems would happen if you weren't trying to upgrade this box. I'd say that its not worth it if you don't have a lot of time and patience on-hand.

2 out of 5 eggsnot what is expected from a desktop

Pros: It is cheap on paper but its is expensive to maintain.

Cons: This model was designed not be upgradable . The power supply does not have any available outputs. Forget about adding a video card or another internal DVD drive or even a second hard drive. The system is build out of cheap components like CPU box , wires that go between internal components and etc . My old laptop is more upgradable then this desktop......

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: This thing is amazing. Setup took 5 minutes and most of it was Windows 8 picking backround colors and things like that. Browsing is super fast, less graphically intense games like tf2 and minecraft run at 80-120 fps (depending on if I'm on a crowded server or not), and the startup is about 10 seconds. Windows 8 is much better than I was expecting and I have no problem using it (even though I like 7 better). Also it looks good and for the price you can't beat it, sinilar machines are around $700! Shipping was also super fast (I used the standard shipping and Iordered it on a Sunday around 9:00pm and it arrived Wednesday around 3:15 pm thanks Newegg).

Cons: It doesn't come with a graphics card but not a big hurdle there

5 out of 5 eggsSurpassed Expectations

Pros: Very fast and easy setup. Computer is lightening fast, super quiet, and has a very sleek design. The front access ports are very convienent, because I keep my tower below my desk. The angles slots might be annoying if the tower is going to sit on your desk.

Cons: N/A

The only con was Windows 8. It was a bit glitchy, but ever since the upgrade from 8.1 its been much better. No issues whatsoever. Upgrading from an old XP machine I really enjoy the form factor and ease of Windows 8.

1 out of 5 eggsZero upgradeability: Lackluster motherboard. Power supply is incapable of upgrades

Pros: Windows 8 works great. USB 3 works great. Haswell chip is awesome.

Cons: Work bought three of these machines. We had a bunch of beefier power supplies and GeForce cards from recent upgrades so these desktops would make an excellent home for these. Once you open up the case and take a closer look at the power supply and motherboard connections, you want to immediately throw this machine out the window. The power supply uses a proprietary connection to the motherboard. Gone is the expected 24-pin connector any experienced computer enthusiast should hope to see. Right next to this connection is another proprietary connection with a cable providing power to the drives.

Other Thoughts: After this our workplace will switch to making custom-built machines.

3 out of 5 eggsA lot of propriety parts - limited upgrade capability

Pros: This thing runs very quietly.
Fast processor.
USB 3.0
Display Port

Cons: Proprietary Motherboard (Acer Inc, Might be MS-7829 Ver 1) - This mother board takes a 12 pin ATX powersupply.

Proprietary300W Power supply (FSP Group FSP300-40AABA) - Only provides power to the motherboard via a 12pin ATX connector and a 4pin 12V connector. There are no additional power supply wires.

There are two SATA Power Connectors which actually come off the motherboard (yes, power comes off the motherboard) and connects to the mobo by some 6pin connector. these are connected to the 1TB drive and the DVD burner. There is one more motherboard "hddpwr2" port that you could plug some more power wires into, but I cannot find those types of wires to purchase.

There are no additional free power wires, no molex connectors. This severely limits the expansion capabilities.

No DVI port

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a cheap, reasonably powerful computer to act as a backup server and a media server. I wanted to be able to transcode video on the fly and to do it fast. It does transcode quickly. I'm satisfied with that.

I wanted to put two extra drives in the machine and just use it for a server but I'm going to have to get a SATA power wire splitter to have enough connections.

There are two additional SATA data connections available on the motherboard so hopefully when I get a power splitter those will work and I'll be in business for my backup needs.

Ultimately, I like the low price for the Haswell I5, but I wish the description had more information regarding the lack of upgradeability. I might have chosen a different computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat System for the Price

Pros: Wireless
Cost
Speed
Processor speed
Max Memory - 32GB
HDMI port

Cons: Windows 8 - This is a con, because I hate windows 8, not an actual flaw in the product. I change UEFI to CSM boot and install win 7 anyway, so it's not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: The OS Sucks, but that can be replaced. What should be looked at is the hardware. If you're experienced or very persistant, you can get Win 7 64 bit installed without issue. This makes it a great machine for your average user. This is not top of the line, and it's not a gaming rig. But it works great for most business & home use with a good price.

(They are not loud - if you get one that's loud, something might be bad in it.)

5 out of 5 eggsUnder-rated

Pros: I don't typically do this, but this review is to set some things straight. I don't actually own it, but I know the tech.

Firstly, this computer is NOT for gaming. If you want a gaming computer, I suggest building one or finding a better one.

It has a nice RAM. The mobo appears pretty nice, as well. The HDD APPEARS good, but since I don't know the brand or anything, I'd say it's probably good. It certainly looks fast.

Has an HDMI output, which is always nice. Also has four USB 3.0 ports, which is pretty nice as well.

Cost is amazing. I put together a list of parts that would be a slight downgrade from this [worse because it had no USB 3.0 on front, just in back] and it turned out to be ten dollars more. Since it's typically less expensive to build your own computer, I'd say this is a nice deal.

Regarding Windows 8.1, it's not that hard to download some updates. You have to do that when you buy a Win7 computer as well. Once you get 8.1, it gets a lot better.

Cons: Isn't worth playing games on, nor upgrading it for games. This has a 300 watt PSU. I don't think there are any dedicated graphics cards that go that low. Although onboard graphics are getting better nowadays, the games are demanding more graphical power. Thus, I don't think you'd enjoy gaming on this.

If you DID want to upgrade this for games, you're looking at $150-300. Maybe less, maybe more. All depends on what you want to play.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'd say that this is a great computer for everyday use. It's got a pretty good price, and as long as you aren't trying to play any graphically demanding games, it should work like a champ.

It MAY be hard for those who are newer to computers to get it to 8.1 and navigate around the interface, though. Personally, I don't find it hard at all, I just have to look around sometimes.

2 out of 5 eggsCan Do Better

Pros: Good performance for the money.

Cons: Loud power supply and hard drive.

Other Thoughts: Wanted to dual boot with two separate drives but could not get UEFI to work. Windows 8 would not boot without UEFI enabled. Ubuntu would not when it was. Vendor website was terrible for boot information. Wound up installing Windows 7. Kept a restore of Windows 8 in case it ever gets straightened out.
