2 out of 5 eggsOk

Pros: Easy to use
Small
Lots of USB ports
Good for home use not heavy

Cons: onboard video sucks only has vga output
Even though it has a pcie slot there's no room in the case for a new video card and the psu is only 220
dual core

Other Thoughts: If anyone wants to know the mobo is microatx

I've had this for a year and now I'm working on building a new gaming pc, but I can't afford it all at once so I bought a new case, psu and graphics card and took this pc apart and am using the mobo, cpu, dvd drive, and hdd for now. When I get the rest of the parts I'm going to put the emachines back together and give it to my friend who has a horrible computer.

3 out of 5 eggsFirst one was broke

Pros: For the price and size of the computer with 4 gigs of memory and 500gigs of hd at 7200rpm I think the price was great. The added Nvidia geforce graphics card make it a plus for my gaming.

Cons: I got it home pluged it in and it only worked for a day kept shutting off but I got a hold of newegg and they helped me return it and get a new one just hope the new one works great.

4 out of 5 eggsEntry Computer

Pros: eMachines generally builds a decent entry level computer.
The price is generally less than others in its class.
Decent sized HD. Enough memory for general use.
Gigabit LAN and plenty USB ports.
Has a small footprint.

Cons: Limited on board video - Only VGA. Memory can not be expanded beyond 4 gig. Off shore support often not too helpful. Crashed after four months and had to reinstall everything.

Other Thoughts: I wonder why there are so many refurbished products on the market. Are they not made well, or is that a lot of folks just return a lot of stuff? Or maybe it is just a ploy to unload out dated models? I also think the seller should take more responsibility for selling products that work. It is a crime the customer has to pay return shipment charges for products that arrive DOA.

4 out of 5 eggsWatch what you pay for this

Pros: This is a PC which was just last week being sold here for $256. For that price, it is a great PC. However, watch what you pay for this. NE has just jacked the price up on this PC to $499. If you buy this recertified PC at the correct price of $256, you will be getting a decent buy. The RAM is clocked at 1066MHz (truly 533MHz). The 500GB hard drive has a good amount of space. The CPU is decent at 2.8GHz and dual core, with 65W TDP.

Cons: NE has just jacked the price up to $499 on a recertified PC that has been here for a while at $256. It can be had new at other places for under four hundred and brand new. It almost feels like they (NE) thought they were giving people too good of a deal. Right after I purchased 6 of them for a business, they raised the price to double what it was. Does a person ordering a batch of something set off a price-too-low alarm? Come on NE, quit trying to reap a profit on something you were just profiting off of at half the price.

The only other con is that you cannot expect fast processing from this 65W CPU. It handles everyday tasks, but as soon as something like video converting arises, both cores will churn at 100% usage while battling hard. Use it for web browsing and movie watching, but not any real processing programs that would be better suited to 4 cores.

Other Thoughts: While this was a decent buy at $256, I would not recommend this computer to anyone at $499. You could build a PC the same size and twice the speed and power for 350 bucks, let alone 500 bucks. Sit back and wait for this recertified PC to come back to original pricing, or start looking for a new computer model.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: shipping took three days
professional packaging and look
no damage to external or internal components
the many ports come in handy right away
very fast processor, especially for the price

Cons: some bloatware (easy to remove though)

Other Thoughts: Don't find a deal like this often. I'd recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy With It!

Pros: Price slim, fast, plenty of storage and not a lot of bloatware installed.

Cons: Not made to setup horzontal - "desktop style", as there are no rubber feet for this, but should be.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my wife to replace an old P4 Win XP desktop - couldn't be happier! GREAT price for the specs and I have no more complaints about the computer being slow :-)

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: So far this computer is working and is exactly what i expected. Solid, not fancy, good for basic use.

Cons: I have always been skeptical of recertified equipment. I bought this item and it was DOA. It would not turn on. i called the support number and they told me to return it to newegg for a replacement. The replacement came and it has been working... still skeptical.

Other Thoughts: Newegg had me pay the shipping on my return. this is the first time i returned an item to newegg and i didn't expect that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value, used for Win2008 R2

Pros: It comes with both PCIe-X1 and PCIe-X16 low-profile slots. Makes it easy to upgrade video and/or network/serial cards. Runs very cool and quiet. Mid-range power for CPU. Lots of USB slots on front and back.

Cons: 4GB maximum on RAM, no built-in DVI video port, no eSATA port, no firewire, doesn't stack well on its side.

Other Thoughts: Being a developer, I needed a machine sufficiently powerful to run Windows Server 2008 R2, but not take too much room. It definitely meets and exceeded my expectations. The x64 architecture and instruction set allows me to run this OS, and even provision it for Hyper-V.

This is a Great Value !
