4 out of 5 eggsgot this for my mom

Pros: Quiet. Much faster than her 5+ year old HP. Cheap. $500 for a solid machine is a deal.

The inclusion of DVI and VGA via integrated graphics was nice.

Cons: As other users stated. Bloatware. Lots of Bloatware. The most annoying was the first boot(which took an easy 5 minutes), where it forced me through HP's silly little setup process and warned me 17 different times about disabling Norton Antivirus. I spent the better part of an hour uninstalling bloatware. Beyond that, it worked great.

Other Thoughts: Only 4 USB ports on the back seems a little low.
iPod cable (I try to just leave one plugged in and take one with me).

We solved this by hooking it up to the front, but is it too much to ask for a plethora of USB ports? Especially if you don't include any PS/2 ports.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Basic Machine!

Pros: Great office computer! This isn't a machine built for gaming, Athlon quad core, 4gb ddr3, 750gb hd... For the price, it's a great machine. Has empty drive bay for a second drive as well

Cons: Bloatware, loads of it.

4 out of 5 eggsFast Computer

Pros: Much faster than my old computer, Fast delivery. Nice looking case, very quiet.

Cons: Too much bloatware, cheap mouse(had to go buy a new one) One egg removed.

Other Thoughts: A nice computer for the price, Just expect at least a couple of hours to get rid of the bloatware. The mouse works, but the spring on the wheel is weak, so when you try to scroll up or down a page, the wheel button is pushed.

2 out of 5 eggsFrustrating

Pros: Quiet running and very fast. Attractive case and lightweight. Decent keyboard and generic mouse.

Cons: Lot of bloatware that needs to come off. The biggest problem I had was trying to get the email (RR) to work in this thing using their Windows Live Mail. After 3 days working with RR Internet, still no proper email for either sending or receiving. Live mail is garbage. Never had a problem installing email till I bought this pig of a Windows 7. Microsoft always seems to come out with a new nightmare, rakes in the bucks and then next year a new nightmare. Taking this back today.

Other Thoughts: Find a good XP media center w/Outlook express.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat machine for general office work

Pros: This PC appears to be very well built and looks great. Nice chrome accents on the keboard, which has a decent feel. Built in wireless is great for initial setup. I install PC's for small offices and this makes it easier.

Speed is fine for Microsoft Office and general use. I doubt it would be a gaming machine, nor to I care! I have not opened the case, and don't plan to. DVI video is nice, plently of USB ports and a card reader on the front. Extremely quiet.

Cons: Ok, this is where one egg comes off. I have NEVER seen a PC shipped with this much bloatware. The HP stuff is just amazingly bad. It probably took over one hour to remove all the stuff they install, and most of it starts at runtime. The "dock" is almost like a virus, no way to easily turn it off. Reminds me of "Microsoft Bob". Absolutely horrible stuff. It is all gone now.

Keyboard is fine, mouse is flimsy, but works fine. Of course it is all wired, not wireless. Does not ship with ANY media, so definitely create an image backup using windows backup or the HP thing.

Other Thoughts: If I had to install dozens of these, I'd be annoyed with removing all the junk, but then I'd probably make one image and do it that way.

The bloatware is so intense, that HP even messes up the standard Win 7 install. When windows first asks you for your user name, the keyboard did not work. I was thinking it was a bad one, so I powered off, got another and had the same problem. While I was thinking about what to do next, the characters appeared on the screen about a minute later! Something HP was doing in the background. I've never seen this with a Win 7 setup.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Business Machine for my Boss

Pros: I've purchased this machine at a local Best Buy about a few months ago for about the same price to give to my boss since his original PC began having motherboard problems due to defected capacitors. Ever since he had been using this machine, he has never had a single problem with his PC constantly rebooting in the middle of working on an Excel spreadsheet.

This machine is capable of expanding into the future. If you plan on turning this machine into a gaming PC, easily swap out the PSU and purchase a dedicated graphics card, then you should be good for a long time. This machine comes with a quad-core AMD Athlon at 2.9GHz with 4GB of DDR3 RAM which makes multitasking a snap when working with modern business applications. I no longer hear from my boss complaining about how slow his computer was ever since I got this PC for him.

Cons: I should have bought myself one of these as well. Get them before they sell out.

Other Thoughts: To the reviewer below: This PC is built for home/office use, NOT to play the most demanding games out on the market.
That's actually your own fault for looking into the wrong place. Your tech level should come all the way down if you plan on playing high end games on a business made PC.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat PC for the price

Pros: Great price. Over all a good pc to start with and add to if you chose. I have already upgraded the PS and video card. great 7.1 onboard sound.

Cons: Video card is weak, to much lag with high end video games.

Other Thoughts: I just purchased a case from Newegg and will use all the componants that I have in the HP, just want a better looking case.

2 out of 5 eggsNot all it's cracked up to be

Pros: Pretty standard stuff for a desktop PC. It has a decent processor and adequate memory. Nice sized hard drive. Comes with a wireless network adapter.

Cons: Forget about upgrading the operating system on this baby. It came with Windows 7 home premium, and I had earlier purchased Windows 7 professional. Seemed logical to upgrade. Bad idea. To make a long story short, it wouldn't allow me to access the Internet by wireless or through the ethernet. I spent more than an hour on the phone to with product support and ended up paying $16.53 for disks to reinstall my system. I was told that I should have purchased my Windows upgrade from HP so it would work on their systems. I incorrectly thought Windows was Windows. Would have been nice if you told me that to begin with. Anyway, they sent me a confirmation for my disk order, and it noted that my computer was "out of warranty.''
Nice. The Newegg ad said it was warranted for 3 years. The HP material said it was warranted for 1 years. And the invoice said it was warranted for 2 days. Reminds me of the time I bought a used transmission. It was warranted for 30 feet or 30 seconds, whatever came firs

Other Thoughts: My son-in-law and son both advised me to build my own computer. I thought a professionally built one would be better. I was wrong.
