1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I like the HP's and this was a good price for 2 gig of ram, was defective out of the box. (see cons). However, the return process went well and was easy to do. I'm just out my time troubleshooting and boxing it back up. Newegg did a good job with that part of the sale.

Cons: It wouldn't boot up when we turned it on. When I opened the case, there were two big lint balls inside, one blocking a fan. I blew out the inside, and it booted up. After loading some programs, I shut it off and it wouldn't boot again. I went through it with HP support and we decided it was a ram problem. I got the rma and returned it--I'll probably get refunded as that model is out of stock.

Other Thoughts: Need to work on your quality control. This is the second hp that didn't work when I took it out of the box. The first had a buzz in the power supply. I have an auditor friend who did a manufacturer's refurbishing operation for qc and he was really impressed with it. Said he'd never buy another new pc.

1 out of 5 eggsCan't get one that works

Pros: decent price, compact size

Cons: poor workmanship on refurbishment

Other Thoughts: The first one of these HP DC7600 reburb machines I received had boot-time display problems and didn't successfully boot Windows. Wouldn't boot from the CD drive either. So I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement did boot up to the HD and I was able to complete the initial XP installation. Unfortunately, the CD/DVD drive wouldn't read any disks. Not a huge deal since I had an extra drive laying around I could swap it for. However, after less than an hour of use the machine began periodically and spontaneously rebooting itself... as in hard power off back to a bios boot screen from the middle of XP. I suspect it's power supply problem, and the power supply is non-standard given the small form factor. These machines are obviously not checked to any degree by the refurbishment company. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

3 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: serves a purpose. installed a firewire card and usb wireless. All work well.

Cons: You can tell it was refurbished. Fans were pretty dusty when it was received.

Like the previous post. It does get hot.

Other Thoughts: I just got it to operate a piece of Lab equipment. It works fine for that task.

2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Fast processor, cheap price

Cons: excessive heat (I have a fan on it in the back and its increasing the temperature in my room), slow internet (on a cable modem, I think its the ethernet card), extremely small case (cant even fit a SLI card in it).

Other Thoughts: NOT 64 bit capable CPU so even though it CAN be upgraded to 4 gig RAM youll never see it, as this setup can only ever run 3.2
