5 out of 5 eggsGood machine

Pros: Windows 8. Wireless keyboard and mouse instead of the advertised USB. Fast 6GB SATA hard drive. Has miniPCI for a wireless card.

Cons: Could use 4 GB more memory. Microsoft makes updating from the WIndows 8 to 8.1 and 8.1 update so slow (hours) but worth it at end.

Other Thoughts: To Joe G. and others. The keyboard will not work initially to stop it on BIOS etc, but let it go to Windows and settle down. On the bottom of the keyboard is a connect button. If you can, observe the blue light of the unified transmitter (dongle) and press this connect button and hold it till you see the blue light on the dongle blink. It will be connect. I had thought mine didn't work also.

Pros: Has USB3 in the back. Windows 8 installed and ready to update to 8.1 for free in windows store. 4 cores and very fast, large drive. like i said this looks like a brand new PC

Cons: mine came with wireless keyboard and mouse but keyboard would not work with the dongle they sent,. only mouse worked. not a big deal for me

5 out of 5 eggsGreat machine

Pros: This is a great little machine at the price. I picked one up for $240, and about to buy a 2nd one @ $215. A quad core workhorse - plenty of RAM - big harddrive to boot.

Cons: The integrated wireless card doesn't pick up wifi very far away, but I didn't want to use wireless anyway.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat deal

Pros: Great deal on this feature rich computer. i was going to build a computer with similar assets but when you throw in the fact that it comes with Windows 8 you can't build one with similar attributes and buy Win8 for the same price.

Cons: Support. NewEg has always been great with support, but I've run itno a problem that hasn't been resolved in three weeks. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I accidentally trashed the hard drive while installing some software. I've only dealt with XP installations, this was my first Windows 7/8 foray. I made a "restore" DVD, but was unaware I also needed to copy the restore partition, so, the restore DVD is pretty much useless. This system has an OEM version of Win8, which must be supported by the manufacturer. I found out that you can't even upgrade it to 8.1 using just the product key, only if it is a running Win8 system can you download the free upgrade. After going back and forth a few e-mails with NewEgg customer support I was finally asked for the serial number of the system and for permission to release my contact info to the manufacturer. A week went by and no response. I've sent NewEgg another e-mail and asking to return the system if I can't get support. I understand there may be a charge for restoration media because it's an OEM version, but I have no way of knowing who to even contact. I'm leary of the "made in Mexico" sticker with no contact info on it. I've asked that if another week passes that I get a return authorization. I've never had this much trouble getting restoration media! I do realize it's not all NewEgg's fault, part of it is the way MS licenses to OEMs. You'd think MS would let you install a free upgrade if you have a valid product key!!
