5 out of 5 eggsGood so far - but one documentation issue

Pros: Just got it. Much faster and sweeter than the Vista machine it replaced. Nicely made.

Wireless and GigE both worked as soon as I tried. I haven't gotten impressive speeds from the Wireless-N, I suspect that has to do with the B&G devices I have around - I'll mainly be using GigE anyway.

The kids love the touchscreen, and the built-in camera.

Cons: As with all new computers, it comes with almost NO hardcopy documentation. It was quite disappointing that the single piece of paper it does come with contains a glaring error.

The instructions say to unpack the wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and the USB wireless receiver, and plug the USB stick into the back of the machine before turning it on. The box the mouse comes in is labeled "Mouse/Dongle, part # SM-2060/SD-2060", and has a slot for a USB dongle.

But there is no USB wireless receiver. On the 520-1070, the wireless receiver is built into the box. On the 320, and the other TouchSmarts, the wireless receiver is separate, but apparently making the documentation accurate for the most expensive box in the line is too hard. So ignore the instructions and turn the thing on, it will work. It took a phone call to HP support to figure this out, since I was reluctant to turn it on w/o having the receiver for the keyboard.
