3 out of 5 eggsGood machine, some shortfalls

Pros: Overall this machine is pretty good. Nice size hard drive and runs good with Windows 7. Unit is designed for business applications, no so good for gaming.

Cons: The power supply is very weak. Only has a 160 watt power supply in it and it is propriatary. Standard PS will not work in unit. Also to be noted is that the PCI Express 16 slot is positioned right side up which means that only a single height card will work in it. That completely leaves out any high performance video cards.

Other Thoughts: Unit only comes with 2GB of RAM, I would recommend adding an additional 2GB of RAM for a little better performance.

1 out of 5 eggsRefurb - NOT

Pros: Price & Win7

Cons: Video Errors and very sllow. Upon running any applicaiton (any action other than idle with wallpaper) the screen began to flicker ehos of the application and random screen images and intensities. If no app running, screen behaves. But you cannot work if you cannot see what is on the screen properly.

Giant, heavy case. Insufficient cooling fans.

Other Thoughts: Thought I made a deal. What I did was invest 8 hours to test, install and configure everyting for use, only to be have a dead PC.

2 out of 5 eggsGraphics Drivers Not Available for included OS

Pros: Cheap, decent specs

Cons: This machine comes with Windows 7 Home premium but the drivers crash and reload all the time and a driver is not available for Windows 7 from HP or Intel. Machines were a bit shabby but they are refurbished.

Other Thoughts: With a working Video Driver they would be 4 stars, if they did not have a PCI slot for a video card they would be 0

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Refurb was in very good condition. Slight scuffs on case, otherwise clean and no issues.

Great value for a basic surfing and email box with Win7.

Takes full-height expansion cards.

Cons: Not a big deal, but uses a non-standard power supply. Just hope you don't have to replace it.

Not a small form factor, if that's what you're looking for.

Other Thoughts: This is a mid-sized tower case. Got it because it accepts full-sized cards. Wish it used a standard ATX PS though.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent bargain

Pros: Got a nice Black Friday deal on two of these.
Fast Newegg shipping
Good value

Cons: One bad stick of RAM. (Newegg customer support is helping me with that.)
Machine is a little big. I should have looked closer at the specs. It's still very usable.
Some evidence of wear and tear on both machines. I expected them to be more new looking.

Other Thoughts: I got two of these machines and other than the bad stick of RAM they are in excellent working condition. I'm not sure I will go the refurbished route again, though.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow-up review

Pros: Great value for the price. 4 ram slots, PCIe x16 slot, 2 PCIe x1 slots, 3 PCI slots, 365W psu and room for 2 more 5.25 drives and 2 more 3.5" hdd's. It works.

Cons: Plastic front fascia slightly broken, top of case dented and scratched, all 4 ram slots filled with PC5300 512MB dimms, no DVI-out.

Other Thoughts: I changed my mind about troubleshooting the spontaneous reboot issue and the cause appears to be the Catalyst 11.11 drivers and/or HD6450 I added. Windows also reports several performance issues with the HD6450 although it scores 5.1/6.3 in WEI. The drivers freeze, are slow to recover from sleep mode and slow the system when running Aero. In short, I removed the HD6450 and the PC works great without it. I now need a new vidcard with DVI and HDMI-out that works with this PC. Back to Nvidia I suppose.

I'd give it 4 stars but had to give it 5 to make up for my earlier review.

1 out of 5 eggsAlmost a good deal...

Pros: Good value. Not too beat up.

Cons: Freezes and reboots constantly. Hard to say what's wrong because I don't intend to spend the time to determine if it's the PSU, mobo, ram or HDD.

Other Thoughts: If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

4 out of 5 eggsQuite

Pros: My son needed a new desktop, seems he has learned there is no expansion with a laptop. Im not sure what happened to his XP Based machine, but one day it just gave up and I could not get any thing but a blue screen. So, we went shopping. He had 250 in his pocket so we got this.
I have had very good luck with Refurbs from HP on Newegg. This makes my third one from both. I updated it, let windows in stall the fanless video card from Asus. And we have a very quite computer, he uses HDMI to power his TV. Seven is Great. Newegg is really cool, free shipping from Shop Runner is a no brainer. True I picked up a machine built near the end of Vista that came with Seven Installed. So, that is almost three years back. But it seems to me like I actually scored a great PC for the money. I really liked the Core 2 Duos. They just seem to plow thru stuff the way the early amd 64s did.
Im happy, my son is happy and streaming HD smooth and quite.

Cons: I really have nothing bad to say.

Other Thoughts: If he could have afforded a I 3 or maybe one of the new AMDs I would have suggested it. But he couldnt, and I didnt have an old machine to hand down. It sure beats the thunder out of sharring.
Did I mention New Egg Rocks
