4 out of 5 eggsPC=Great; Hard Drive=JUNK

Pros: The machine itself is very nice especially for the price. It's small form factor makes for a very nice desktop upgrade. Runs Windows 7 (including Aero) very well.

Cons: The hard drive that came in the machine was a Certified Repaired Seagate ST3750640NS which from the amount of spare parts I found online, seems to be prone to failure. This one failed two weeks ago, just over 9 months into owning it. Unfortunately the drive failure was not as simple as a faulty PCB (Printed Circuit Board) so I now have to research reasonable data recovery firms before I resort to swapping platters (wee...)

Other Thoughts: Machine is worth it but DON'T trust the hard drive!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal

Pros: -price: I nabbed 5 of these with a 30% promo, which turned these into $140 deals!
-750GB hdds that all work. Some have some ecc corrections and seek errors, but within normal working parameters. Some of the drives have been in service much longer than others: SMART data shows power-on hours from 1500 all the way to 18,000.
-comes with decent PS2 keyboard
-comes with Win7 for Refurbished Computers disk
-internal speaker that sounds decent. I expected only POST beeps, but they play all audio that the OS plays (Win7 startup jingle, etc).
-include serial and parallel connectors, which we needed
-decent, working dvd burner
-2 front and 6 rear USB connectors
-easy to open and access internal components
-computers were packaged well in what appears to be original boxes and all appear to be in good physical condition for refurbs. They are obviously used, but no serious scratches or blemishes.
-Windows 7, dual core, 2GB ram are more than powerful enough for basic business worksta

Cons: -the 5 computers had slightly different configurations. For example, some had a single 2GB memory stick, some had 2x1GB memory stick; some had an extra serial port going from a motherboard header to a rear slot, some didn't; one had a PCI-E card whose sole purpose was to add a DVI connection (in addition to standard VGA), the other 4 didn't; 4 of the 5 had a missing rear slot cover.
-I haven't tested all 5 computers yet, but the first one I tried to read a floppy on would not read. I tried multiple floppies and get "floppy not found" from Win7. Not a huge deal for me, but if someone needed floppy disk functionality, I'm not sure these would work out, since the floppy drives are not standard, off-the-shelf models, so replacing them would be challenging.

Other Thoughts: I was lucky to get these 5. This product now shows as sold out and deactivated. They were incredible bargains, made only better with free shipping. I received them in 2 days (thank you Newegg).

1 out of 5 eggsunreliable power supply

Pros: ???

Cons: I remember from supporting these machines years ago and how unreliable the power supply was...one day upon close examination of a failed desktop, I realized that it had failed because of bad power supply....and a component had came off of the circuit board inside the PSU. Hopefully these refurbs do not have the same PSU or it was just a bad batch that I dealt with.

4 out of 5 eggsGood system on the cheap.

Pros: Core 2 Duo is quicker than all the Pentium 4 models and Athlon x2 models.

Large Hard drive, small chassis, enough ram.

Ships with the win7 for refurb disc.

Cheap!

Cons: Multiple scrapes that were covered with black MARKER, sad!

HDD sounds like an old model, makes quite a racket, that probably won't last very long.

The onboard video lags just a bit in win 7 aero theme.

KB and Mouse are old ps2 garbage.

Other Thoughts: Great buy for approx $200 but don't pay more than that!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Refurbs

Pros: Seems to be a good refurb. Just power up, activate Windows, and add software. Excellent buy for parents, grandparents, or a small office that needs some cheap machines *now*. I have deployed four or so without problems.

Cons: Not sure what warranty is or how long components will last, but for the price you take your chances.
