4 out of 5 eggsHP DC7800 Win Pro 64

Pros: Perfect size for Home theater PC. Stores all my digital photos & music . Also hooked up to internet so I have 60" screen
Good cooling design. Pulls outside air directly over CPU.
THis exhausts over PCI slot where I put Asus 210 video card so large heat sink on card actually has air flow cooling. Additional PS fan pulls air over Hard drive.

Cons: Small 80 G HD. Replaced with 500 G.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value for the money!

Pros: Packaged perfectly with the solid foam that went around the computer in the correct size box. Inspected the unit and it seemed to look brand new inside and out except for a very small blemish at the right rear side of the case. Came pre loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit - OEM. After hooking up the computer all updates were downloaded and installed. Installed adobe reader and flash. Comes with 2 Win7 Pro SP1 install disks, one 32-bit, one 64-bit. This system is stable and it works well. Awsome value!

Cons: Video works ok but needs to be upgraded.

Other Thoughts: I bought this system solely for the operating system. I just finished installing it on a fresh build of a MSI Z87-G45 gaming beast. I will be installing Windows 7 Home Premium on the HP DC7800 and giving it as a christmas present to a family member.

2 out of 5 eggsNot working out of the box

Pros: have bought similar models in the past and were decent.

Cons: Once PC we pulled out of the box just did not work. It did not even perform POST.
Now i have to spend almost $40 in shipping to send it back ? :-(

Other Thoughts: Will have to think twice about buying this series and models.

4 out of 5 eggsExceptable machine

Pros: Good base system, has some blemishes on the case, but nothing terrible and to be expected on a refurbished unit. This is for business use and so far is working as expected.

Cons: As someone else mentioned the mouse and keyboard are very very cheap. The mouse had a rattling sound when I removed it from the box and would not function when plugged in.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good bang for the buck

Pros: This is a nice little compact system for light gaming or connecting to a living room TV for multimedia use. Even though the computer is refurbished it looks well taken care of with minor expected wear on the outside from moderate use. The inside of the unit was very clean with a little dust here and there but it appears as though the inside was thoroughly cleaned. Windows 7 Professional 64bit was preinstalled and the setup was easy and painless to get the OS updated and activated. Preinstalling 64bit was a nice touch since I plan to upgrade the RAM to 4GB from the 2GB it was shipped with. Both RAM chips matched with DDR2 running at 667Mhz. The motherboard contains a total of 4 RAM slots with two populated. The system contains a parallel port, a 9 pin serial port(!), PS/2 ports for both mouse and keyboard, 1Gbps Ethernet port, 6 USB2 ports and the usual sound ports both front and back. Many of the BIOS options that are normally missing from consumer PCs by name brand manufacturers are there and can be changed (like tweaking power and fan settings, changing IRQ and DMA settings for various PCI devices, etc..). The system came shipped with both 32bit and 64bit Windows 7 Professional DVDs just in case you wish to switch to 32bit. All in all a nice refurbished system well worth the asking price.

Cons: The DVD drive is a player only? Windows 7 includes a pretty nice DVD creator but it's pointless with just a multi DVD reader. The built-in Intel graphics chipset is pitiful (as always with these types of systems) bringing down the overall Windows system rating to a 3.4. The other parts in the system rated a 5.8 or above. Not bad for a 4 year old system.

Other Thoughts: I have already ordered an MSI low profile Nvidia 520 video card to install in the available PCIx16 slot so that should really boost the overall performance of this system. There is also an available 32bit PCI slot (white) and 2 available PCIx1 slots as well. There are 3 SATA plugs on the motherboard, 1 being used for the HDD and 1 being used for the SATA DVD player, so you have another one available for a second HDD you can install in the available 3.5" bay that a floppy drive would normally occupy. The included HDD is only 80GB so a second drive is almost a must if you plan to use this machine for streaming to a home TV or for loading many large FPS games on. The power supply is rated at 240 Watts so it should handle a mild video card like the one I described above and a second HDD if desired. The packaging was a little bit to be desired however. Expandable foam bags were used to encase the computer but the box the computer was shipped in was too large. The box was pretty beat up and the computer was able to move around quite a bit inside the box. The foam packs however did their job and protected the unit from the forces of the UPS system of torture. The computer came with an off brand keyboard and mouse, not the original HP/Compaq mouse and keyboard that would have came with the original unit as sold by HP. They are nice but but very cheap. Again, overall a good bargain for the price and if you purchase one of these refurbished systems you will probably be happy overall. I am.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly how described and what I wanted

Pros: Unbelievable price for what you get! it's exactly how it is described in the description. Very quiet and and really reliable!

Cons: Only 2 gb of RAM gonna have to get a couple more sticks of memory, only 80 gb hard drive, not very big at all, but both can be replaced with having the windows 7 disc

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great value for the price I got ($169). That's a great price for the processor (2.33Ghz Core2Duo) and Win7Pro alone! Comes with 2 Win7Pro install disks, one 32-bit, one 64-bit.

Cons: Inconsistent hardware. I bought 8 machines, only 2 had DVD burners, the rest were DVD-ROM. RAM sticks were all over the place--different speeds (PC5300, PC6400), different configurations (4x512MB, 2x1024MB), different brands, some were double-sided chips, some single-sided. Hard drives were a mix of Seagate, WD and Hitachi, and running SpinRite on them revealed varying levels of drive health. All were healthy enough not to fail SMART, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them fail down the road. Fortunately I have a good inventory of used drives I could swap with if needed. Also, the keyboard and mouse are really basic and of poor quality, I don't plan on using them except as emergency spares.

Other Thoughts: If you need a solid base platform (cpu, motherboard) and a Win7Pro license and don't mind the uncertain quality of user-replaceable components (RAM, HDD, optical drive), and can get this for $169 or less, then it is a great bargain.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat deal !

Pros: exactly what was described , standard small form desktop dual core PC with Win7 pro loaded.
unpacked the box, hooked it up,finished the install of the OS & loaded some standard programs, then let windows load all the updates and thats it !

Cons: there were a couple of small blemishes on the face of the case with gouges of plastic missing, but its black on black and hard to see and i`m not really complaining.

Other Thoughts: I have always purchased PC parts & full computers from NewEgg and have always had nothing but great service even when things had to go back. love their great deals & their great service !
keep up the good work guys !
