4 out of 5 eggsconcerning product and shipping

Pros: Several month's ago I purchased a refurbished HP desktop. So far I have had no problem's with it. It is working fine and much better than I had expected it to be. It took less than a week to recieve it via Fed-Ex. I would recommend it to anyone who need's one for in home use.
fed-ex

Cons: If someone need's a computer for just personal use at home, or perhap's a student who need's a pc for homework or game's, I would advise them to save some money by buying a refurbished one.

1 out of 5 eggsLast 11 days before dropping dead.

Pros: Came preinstalled with Windows 7, key sticker was on the machine and it worked no problem. It has a very small footprint and was very quiet. It came with a Windows 7 installation disc just in case which was a nice gesture. For the money, it's got a beefy processor.

Cons: It died in 11 days. I was running it as a tiny server, very very light load. But it was on 24/7. After 11 days, it was dead. Would not power on, the PSU was completely shot. My other complaints were that it is basically a laptop inside, it's very hard to service and upgrade it. The HDD was under the CDROM drive, Also, it took laptop DDR ram which is increasing in price while it gets rarer and rarer to find.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps I just got unlucky, but I cannot recommend it or give over 1 egg because it died so quickly. I think even if it didn't drop dead, it wouldn't be a great choice for a light duty home server because it simply wasn't built to be pushed. The PSU and cooling can't handle it even at low load, which is odd because the processor is so beefy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Computer

Pros: Great Form Factor. Excellent Speed. Great Value. I ended up getting 64 bit Windows. Runs great. Scores a 3.5 on Windows 7 testing, but that is mainly because of the graphics capability.

Cons: Runs DDR2 Laptop RAM. Has only 2 slots for RAM and can only take upto 8gb of RAM and that's if you get the 64 bit Windows 7. Even if you do get the 64 bit system, DDR2 ram is so expensive because the industry has moved on, you would spend more than the system to upgrade to 8 gb. I ended up buying 4gb of laptop ram for $55 on New Egg.

Other Thoughts: Great Media PC for the living room. I was looking for something to replace my aging Dell 700m laptop/media station from 2005. (That by the way is truly a great computer seeing that it only start failing when I started trying to stream stuff from the PC to my ROKU). The refurbished computer streams without a hitch. Would definitely think about picking up another one of these if NewEgg restocks.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: Been looking for a small desktop with WIN7 and this was a sweet deal at $139. Be aware that this is basically a laptop in a desktop case; not a negative but upgrade options are limited. I added 2mb ram, DP to HDMI adapter and a new wireless dongle which basically doubled the price but it runs like a champ. The HD might be small for some users but I have most all my programs loaded and still shows 45gb free. This box is sold as a refurb but mine looked new, no dents, scratches or interior dust.

Cons: The only problem I've had is with audio through the DP-HDMI adapter, however after doing a Google search I found that this is an ongoing issue with the Display Port. Also no sound through the audio out port on back but headphones do work... I'll figure it out. There are 2 small internal speakers which are fine for my use.

Other Thoughts: I'm thinking this would make a perfect DVR box - add a USB TV tuner and use with WIN7 Media Center.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to previous review

Pros: Update to the previous review. I am very impressed with this machine. Embarrassingly, I finally noticed a VGA port on the back of my monitor next to the DVI-D. Simply got a VGA cord. Did all the updates I could, including IE 10. Everything is working very smoothly and very fast compared to my old machines. Unless something changes, I doubt I will even bother to upgrade the RAM.

Cons: Windows 7 won't run my canon scanner. Well, it is an old one even if it still scans very well. Fan on machine is pretty quiet but has an odd up and down change in speed in about a 4-5 sec cycle. Minor but somewhat distracting.

Other Thoughts: For the money mine was an absolute steal. Can't believe how much faster and easier internet is even with 2GB RAM. Considering getting a couple more.

4 out of 5 eggsThe Good and the Bad

Pros: Mine came with Windows 7 64 bit pre-installed which matched the key from the sticker on the machine. Also came with a Win 7 32 bit CD ?? Machine seems to run well and it appears to be a pretty clean install. Feels like a bargain except for monitor issue.

Cons: This is the dc7900 Ultra Slim Desktop, not the dc7900 Small Form Factor. Expansion options are very limited. Has two memory slots, can accept up to 8 GB total, but 8GB is 3 times as much as 4GB, don't know why.. Hard drive is 2.5", does not appear to have any place for video card etc. Biggest problem for me is the fact that I have a DVI-D monitor which this machine does not work with as far as I can tell. On back of this computer it has a VGA port and a Displayport.

Other Thoughts: This is a tiny machine, 10 x 10 x 2 1/2". I can easily hold it in one hand. I can figure out the monitor thing. Getting an adaptor for DVI to VGA did not work, however. Think it is still good deal but know what you're getting.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Does what it says.

Cons: Mine came with a laptop type cord...not really a minus.
All you get is a trash can on the screen.....again it's what I expected.

Other Thoughts: I entered the 25 digit Windows 7 product sticker number and it worked fine. Did not have issues like some others posting here. Be alert that this is a smaller computer about 10"x 10". This will do fine for what I want.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Complaints

Pros: A good solid little box. Just upgrade the 2 x 1GB SO-DIMMS to 2 x 2GB DDR2-6400 and off you go. This is a great little unit for the Joe Average user or business use. Not sure what all the other posts were talking about regarding the Win7 activation key. Ours came with a deactivated Vista key label as it should and a shinny new Win7 Pro tag. We entered the Win7 key during setup and never looked back. Will order 10 more units this week to stock for future sales.

Cons: nada

4 out of 5 eggsCan't activate Windows

Pros: Runs well right out of the box and no bloatware

Cons: The activation code for windows on the case of the computer is for Vista, but the computer comes loaded with Windows 7, the number is no good for 7. I called newegg, they tell me to call HP since Newegg only sells the item; HP tells me it should have Vista, I say you installed 7, you should supply the right code! So far no satisfaction from HP, I will try to get Newegg to convince them to supply the right activation code.

1 out of 5 eggsWindows

Pros: Works fairly well, put in a graphics card, new hard drive, and power supply just to play Diablo and it survived a burst pipe that soaked it.

Cons: It says it comes with Windows 7 but it seems not to be "genuine" software. Has a Windows Vista product key which obviously doesn't work for the software.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if this issue could be fixed since it seems I'm not the first (and proably not the last) to have this issue. I chose this tower because it said it came with Windows 7. They either need to remove that or provided a valid product key with the product.
