5 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT

Pros: Work great as a Media Center PC

Cons: I got two: One has a bad Wi-fi card weak signal.

Other Thoughts: Got one for my parents while the other one was a family friend.

3 out of 5 eggsNot fully worth its price

Pros: Small, Quiet, Power efficient, plays x264 1080P content effortlessly, very snappy. Plays standard definition xvid/divx content very well. Plays 480p flash content only with new gpu-accelerated 10.1 flash, but still has hiccups on programs like HuluDesktop or when watching flash content in Boxee. Commercials always seem to run choppy, but content runs fairly well most of the time. Silverlight runs a little sluggish. The range on the included keyboard and mouse is EXCELLENT, I can actually use it from my couch, which I'm very pleased with. The remote works well enough even though it's mounted behind my television.

Cons: Does not come with Windows 7 x64, upgrading parts voids warranty. Output is "overblown" or "overcontrasted" via HDMI, but looks good via VGA. Flash and Silverlight videos are not flawless; meaning Boxee and Netflix and other set-top media center applications feel their usefulness diminished. HuluDesktop application runs sluggy and the UI is not responsive. The IR receiver is built-in to the unit, so if you mount it behind your television, you may lose responsiveness in the bundled media remote (but you can aim the remote just to the side of the TV and it seems to work OK.) Not a fault of this unit, but I don't feel that "10 foot UI" content programs (Boxee, XBMC, HuluDesktop, Windows 7 Media Center) are ready for prime time yet, so you may be better off waiting for another year or two before taking the media center plunge, unless you've got some cash and you're direly eager to experiment.

Other Thoughts: When I first got the machine, the first thing I did was install a 30GB OCZ Solid State boot drive, install 4GB of memory and install Windows x64, so I'm fairly sure my warranty is void, now. The system runs very snappy and feels very nice, but I'm not sure it's worth the cost. I have the system mounted on the back of my Olevia 537H 37" LCD, so it's out of sight and out of mind. While the machine does seem to be nice overall, I'm not convinced the processor is really fast enough to do what it needs to for flash and silverlight, which relegates this (fairly expensive) box to playing pirated content and DVDs as its primary task; It could probably handle BluRays just fine, but seeing as it doesn't have a BD drive either, you're looking at another pricey upgrade for an External BDRom.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome device

Pros: Excellent power usage, small foot print, very quiet.
Works spectacularly as a media center, I already owned a Logitech dinovo mini wireless keyboard so I'm not even going to use the integrated remote that comes with it.

Cons: For some really dumb reason Asus included windows home premium 32-bit. The Atom N330 is a 64-bit CPU and windows 7 home premium includes a license for windows 7 64-bit. Asus, seriously what the heck are you thinking? Bad decisions like this just make your hardware look bad. I wiped it and reinstalled with win7 64-bit leaving the recovery partitions installed in case I want to go back for some reason. You'll probably want to wipe the drive anyway, it comes loaded with so much extra garbage that it will take you an hour or two just to remove it all.
It has two ram slots and are filled with 1gb sticks, so an upgrade will require purchasing two sticks.

Other Thoughts: I've only had this for a week so far, but it works really well for a media center. I've got external network storage so the small internal drive is no concern to me.
4 stars due to the lame default OS installation.

3 out of 5 eggsKind of nice but not nice enough

Pros: Very nice all around design. Small size is great, wireless network works great, very nice keyboard, mouse and lighted media center remote. Seemed to be the perfect media center solution.

Cons: I use an N270 single core Atom powered HP netbook daily so I thought I was being very realistic in my expectaations. I wasn't expecting a real powerhouse but I was shocked just how sluggish this box is. Even mild websites make it chug along, this site included. Hulu, Netflix and many others brought it to its knees. Before you ask yes I upgraged to the newest Ion drivers and the GPU accelerated Flash player but still just slow and very sluggish. IMO I think that between 7 Premium and the slow 2.5" HDD this box is over taxed and underpowered. Needless to say I sent it back and NewEgg being the best in the game took care of me better than I could have hoped for.

Other Thoughts: It's just not worth the money unless you have to have the miniature size and can live with the slow and I mean slow performance. The cheapest single core cpu in NewEgg's selection will leave this in the dust, not to mention save you a couple of hundred dollars.

1 out of 5 eggsHard drive failed

Pros: Hard drive failed in 5 days after product was received from newegg. It start making clicking sound.
small, quite, good wireless keyboard and mouse

Cons: The system still to week to handle high quality videos in 1080p
Hard drive failed in 5 days after product was received from newegg. It start making clicking sound.
The cabinet is made of cheap plastic.

Other Thoughts: Was going to setup as HTPS The system still to week to handle high quality videos in 1080p
Hard drive failed in 5 days after product was received from newegg. It start making clicking sound.
BOXEE worked OK except some plug-ins such as netflix - interface is beautiful but movies play in low quality. tried netflix in Windows media center and movies were playing in low quality as well. it is not my internet connection as my samsung DVD player and HP laptop on the same network play netflix in excellent quality. forget about playing HULU on this box. videos are playing in poor quality, and choppy as well. I heard it is due to Adobe ver 10 plug-in but why HP 17" laptop plays HULU perfectly? (All units have win 7 home prim loaded)

For this price ($500) I would better get and setup as HTPC 13' or 15" laptop with better performance of video card, processor, and etc..

5 out of 5 eggsGreat living room computer for wife

Pros: It is even smaller than I thought. Everything worked great out of the box. Very little bloatware that I had to remove. Windows 7 performance number is 3.3 but that is the CPU. Video etc were 5.0 or above. With the included Media Center remote, it set up very easy to play on the big screen TV. Videos and DVD's play without jitter. It even comes with a mount for the back of your LCD monitor if you want to put it there.

Cons: This is NOT a gaming machine or meant for video editing etc.

Other Thoughts: This is a great media center PC. I wish it had come with the IR remote extender. ( optional )
