4 out of 5 eggsGood Value, caps replaced after 4 years

Pros: Really good for the money.

Cons: After four years, I started getting errors related to the bios not finding the hard drive. I saw that some of the 820mfd 6.3v electrolytic capacitors had swollen tops. The reviews here confirmed that the caps were the likely suspect. $5 worth of capacitors from Mouser.com and it works perfectly again. Well worth the effort.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Price - Great everyday machine for the cost.
Easily upgradable - Capable of being updgrade for fairly cheap (if you purchase a new power supply - see Cons)

Cons: Quality? - The only real issue I've ever had with this machine, is that the power button quit working. However, upon taking off the front panel I realized that the clips that held the physical button itself into the front, had broken off.
Power supply - Very low wattage. If upgrading, you will need to also purchase a new power supply.

Other Thoughts: All in all, a great machine for the value. Can play a lot of games on low settings, but with a fairly cheap upgrade (power supply and video card) this machine can be pretty powerful.

3 out of 5 eggsnot good brand

Pros: Cheap, lots of rams memeory, and comes with decent cpu power. Lasted for over 1.5 years.

Cons: Poor design....horrible case. The computer stop working and show a black screeen. Must be bad motherboard or processor. I wouldn't recommand buying it for long terms used.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat while they worked

Pros: Powerful and feature laden with the Wifi and HDMI. Cheap refurbs. I bought two of them, one from Newegg and one from another supplier after NewEgg ran out.

Cons: Same as other reviewer in that after 1 year almost to the week, both machines exhibited the intermittent Disk Read error. I too noticed the bulging caps and looked them up online (this was a while back) and couldn't find them. I still have both units sitting downstairs so I bought 10 caps online and will try to effect repairs.

Other Thoughts: This really kept me from buying any more ASUS products, as there was no factory recall to repair these, and while Dell had the same problem with GX-280's, they repaired them even after the warranty since it was an existing issue.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing !

Pros: Bought it 4 years ago and for the price I paid this machine is amazing ! I upgraded to windows 7 ultimate as a personal tick and I have no complaints.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I wish there were more in stock. Im in need of 5 - 10 more of there to stock my company's office and I would love to have these there.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't Last more than 15 months

Pros: Good specs with lots of features. Very fast. Highly upgradeable.

Cons: After about 1 year, it started failing to read my HDD occasionally. Then last week it completely failed to read my HDD and would not boot into the OS. It kept saying "disk error" or something like that.
I opened the case and on inspecting the motherboard I found 4 bulging electrolytic caps (820uf 6.3v).
I replaced the caps with new ones and lo and behold everything is working fine now.
I also had to fix the power switch which had started to come loose and would sometimes not make proper contact with the power button on the front. I had to push it back inside and apply a fresh coat of epoxy to keep it in place.
I'm using the computer now as I type this.

Other Thoughts: Did I also mention that the faceplate is cheaply made and the cd/dvd rom covers broke off after only a few months of use.

2 out of 5 eggsIt's a Refurb

Pros: Great price, lots of memory, fast hard drive, fast CPU, 64bit.

Cons: The motherboard went south 12 months after purchase. Unable to find disk drive error.

Other Thoughts: Although I replaced the MB with a same brand (ASUS) and configuration, the case front connectors are proprietary. Existing connectors did not work.

4 out of 5 eggsThis has lasted

Pros: For the price point of a refurb, and the quality of an asus... you can't go wrong. No way I'd be able to put this together making the thing myself.

Cons: One of the faceplates broke off as I took it out of the box, the other looked out of place because of it so I took that off as well. (still looks good)

Other Thoughts: I threw in win 7 x64 and a gpu, setting me up for anything I'd want to do with a PC. Expect some kinks here and there.. because it's low-mid range pc with some outtdated hardware, but as long as you're not a hardcore gamer who would needs 190fps on Black Ops online.. you're set.

Lots of room for upgrades, just remember you might need a new PSU if adding a higher end GPU (newegg psu calculator helps)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for what it is

Pros: The specifications for the price are really good value for money. There was no pre-installed bloat-ware either! This is a simple, great basic desktop with good specifications.

Cons: -The included keyboard does not function after a reboot; it must be disconnected and then reconnected.

-The DVD-tray flop down doors are flimsy and can easily break if you're not careful.

They're not any deal breakers, but a keyboard that worked after you reboot would have been great!

Other Thoughts: For the price, this is definitely a 5-egg machine. If I had paid twice as much, then no... definitely not. It seems if you are lucky enough to get a good one, it will last. Sadly, it seems hit or miss based on the reviews.
