2 out of 5 eggsUpdate review

Pros: same as before

Cons: same as before minus a couple of things plus I found the issue with the graphics driver. I found the asussetup.exe file you use to install the driver calls up a non-existent file. I tried using all the other executable files to install the driver and manually telling windows were the driver were located, but it always failed. I told Asus and it's still not fixed after over 4 months and a new driver release. August 29, 2012.

Other Thoughts: The hdd seems to have failed after 14months which is past the warranty through Asus.

I figured out there are two more screws underneath the rubber feet. I used a knife to flip it up and after removing the all of the screws I was able to remove the top cover and I was able to replace the hard drive.

You have to unscrew the monitor and it just lifts off, but be careful of the delicate wires that are attached. I lifted it off at an angle and unplugged the wires. A big pain to reattach such small connectors.

As for heat, it was under stress test it was so high, it rarely hits 60C under most 3d gaming and only hot summer days. Now that it's Fall it stays in the low to mid 50s.

I could only give an extra egg this review. Asus tech support is just absolutely the worst I have ever dealt with. For such a big company you'd think they would have a much better system in place. The tree missing eggs are all tech support now as I've cured all the other problems on my own and after over a full year to do it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat all in one, Sleep issues resolved after BIOS update

Pros: Relatively quiet, good performance, good price.

Cons: Uses external power brick. -- Newegg Open Box came without power supply.

Other Thoughts: Computer works great. However, I would be hesitant buying it "open box" from Newegg again, since the box came without the external power supply, which I would consider essential... However, the computer uses the same power bricks as the Asus gaming laptops, a bargain replacement was easily obtained via e*** and has been working great for almost a year now...

1 out of 5 eggsNot upgradable

Pros: Quad core
6GB RAM (3 x 2GB with room for a 4th stick)
6470 Video
TV inputs
HDMI outputs
23.6" screen
USB 3.0 side ports, and supposedly sata 3 internally.

Cons: Can't upgrade hard drive to SSD. Asus says I have to send it in pay for their high priced SSDs and not the one I want.

Can't install my own copy of Windows as they don't give out the video drivers (the one's on their site don't even see the 6470 card at all). Level one (and only level) of tech support couldn't figure it out or send me proper drivers. They wanted me to return the system to install the drivers themselves. what the ...

Blu-Ray is a tray style instead of a slot drive. Makes it hard to swap disks. you feel like you'll break it if you're not careful.

Tiny keyboard with no numpad or other special keys. weird layout, with funky function keys to get the missing keys doubled up on other keys.

It runs very, very hot while gaming. It has BSOD a couple of times, but a can of air fixed that. but not for long. It's only 4 months old and that little bit of dust shouldn't be making it overheat. It runs in the upper 70C range under full load when clean.

Other Thoughts: This thing is OK if you don't plan on any upgrades at all. otherwise you're stuck in the mud.

I took off two stars for non-upgradeable, and two stars for horrible, level one only, tech support.

would have been nice if Asus had a configure ability to create the system you want, instead of preconfigured systems.

I destroyed my partitions (except the restore partition) to install a fresh copy of w7 HP from MS and when I tried to restore back to Asus restore partition Asus tech support couldn't figure out how to restore the partitions.

after days of searching I got some help at mydigitallife on how to make the restore partition bootable. Now I'm stuck using the stock Asus install with all the bloatware they have.

I wish it was bolted together to fix a lot of these issues. It sure would save me a lot of headaches, but now I have to risk breaking this thing to get it running the way I want.

If I had to buy another all-in-one, I'd go else where.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It mostly works and is quite fast. The screen is sharp and the sound is good. I love the blu-ray. I love the TV tuner. It set itself up and (almost) everything was automatically working

Cons: My touch screen wouldn't work, so I returned it and got another one... the touch screen didn't work on that one either. On both the SD card reader is so mis-aligned with the case I can't get a card in, and on one the side USB ports were also mis-aligned and useless.

Other Thoughts: I have to wonder about the manufacture quality and QC at ASUS. I satred to wonder if it was me, but everything says the touch should just work out of the box. I got two duds and I'm not happy

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Machine So Far!

Pros: So far, this machine is everyting ASUS promised. Not much in the way of bloatware, great!
The 23.6" monitor is a dream. The side-by-side view of two programs at one time makes work a delight. The pinching is sweet.
GREAT IDEA: The HD is divided in to two drives so it will be EZ to separate your programs from files.

Cons: S'ware issues: not an ASUS issue; just something to be aware of when upgrading.
W7 upgrade EZ transition, but my s'ware installs have been a challenge. BE CAREFUL with W7 compatibility, even with the ULTIMATE upgrade. NOT ALL PROGRAMS WILL INSTALL. Check the MS compatibility chart on their site very carefully. So far, I cannot run my Adobe Photoshop - Adobe says version too old [not so old], and will not support; told me to just buy the new. That will be a $699 add'l purchase I was not prepared for right now. They will not even offer a deal to current registered users. VERY BAD ADOBE, VERY BAD!!!

Other Thoughts: ASUS has a few models so take care to put in the right sufix in the 2400 model u order. This is a IGTS [ASUS ET2400IGTS]; in their commercial line. Comes w/ 6GB RAM, upgradable to 8. Few All-in-One's have this RAM capability. Go here to learn a little:

Still to determine if the RAM challenges I was having will be negated by the Core i5. If it does I'll update this to a 5 star.
I upgraded the mouse & k'bd to Logitech Wireless Wave Combo; multi-button mouse a must; this bundle like getting the k'bd for free. VG choice.
Will use their k'bd for my new Xoom [too exciting to include here].
