5 out of 5 eggsBiggest Bang for the Buck

Pros: I bought this computer instead of building one from the ground up, and I am glad I did. Granted the video card and power supply is not the best but when the warranty runs out just replace them. It's still cheaper then building a new computer. I've had this computer since may and regret nothing. I'm a computer technician and I am continuing my education in computers and I approve this computer,

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Works like it was made to do, Pretty fast boot, never crashed. I'm on it for 6 hours strait almost everyday.

Cons: For some reason the whole PC is to loud due to the hard drive being so loud. I would recommend buying a new gpu, power supply, and a SSD for the best performance

Other Thoughts: Your better off building your own PC if you want to save money and have better performance.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother "Lemon"

Pros: The price, the Ram, The Size of the hard drive, The OS (Windows 7) and, the Asus name, all made this PC appear to be a good deal

Cons: It didn't work from the start! Though it powered up, when it came time for installation of Windows-Service pack etc, the dreaded BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) appeared. In spite of my carefully following resuscitation directions given by very knowledgeable ASUS support staff, the PC never recovered. Even using the systsem recovery process as instrcte dby the support staff, the PC crashed at the point where 8% of the hard drive was reformatted. It never even had a chance!

Other Thoughts: Given my experience with my ASUS ROG laptop (what a great piece of work!), I was surprised and greatly dissapointed to receive an ASUS desktop PC that didn't work although new and just out of the box. Asus Customer Service and NewEgg Customer service staff were both courteous and knowledgeable. When Asus staff acknowledged that the PC would not be salvageable, I called NewEgg and received RMA quickly and with a minimum of hassle, Now, having sent the dead PC back for burial several days ago, I am hoping and praying that the replacement arrives sooner rather than later and, that it actually works.

2 out of 5 eggsASUS CD/DVD Drives Beware

Pros: The hardware on the computer is pretty solid for a mid-range user who is doing more than just browsing the internet, but not engaging in hardcore gaming.

Cons: The CD/DVD Drive broke in less than a month, with minimal use. This is the second time an ASUS computer's CD/DVD drive has stopped working. The other time occurred in little over than a year, which is borderline forgivable, but a drive breaking in the first month is unacceptable. ASUS does make good computers, but this persistent problem is tarnishing the brand and making me question any continued customer loyalty.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Great value, ton of memory, large HDD, killer processor, maximizes network bandwith for downloads.

Cons: Cheap video card (no problems running games, but it needs to be upgraded ASAP)

Other Thoughts: I haven't had any issues with this computer and it pairs great with a 27" monitor. Just be prepared to upgrade the graphics card with a new PCI-E x16 2.0 card and the power supply. All-in-all it was a great deal for a baseline gaming rig.

1 out of 5 eggsVGA Unusable

Pros: Looks like a good deal.

Cons: The one I received did not work. The VGA plug in it does not recognize any monitor plugged into that slot (I tried this on multiple monitors), so I am left with a blank screen.

4 out of 5 eggsFYI

Pros: Cheaper than buying separate components to build your own: CPU ~$300, Motherboard ~$80, 16GB DDR3 SDRAM ~$75, Blu-ray ~$50, 2GB Hard Drive ~$100, Graphics Card ~$50, Windows 7 ~$100, Windows 8 Upgrade $15, Case ~$50, Card Reader ~$20, Keyboard and Mouse ~$20. TOTAL ~$860.

Cons: Power supply and graphics card.

Other Thoughts: I'd sell the power supply and the graphics card and buy better ones.

FYI - The product link takes you to the ASUS homepage. The complete specs can be found by searching for "CM6870" there.

1 out of 5 eggsa lemon

Pros: None

Cons: This is a lemon. The case is plastic and flimsy. The ON button appears as if it is half-broken. The USB ports and other ports appear poorly constructed and barely fit any plug-ins.
After the initial boot, it had problem with installing Windows and the Service Pack. When I tried to go through the paper work, there was no product manual or a contact number to call for service. I finally found a phone number on the internet and call them. The manufacturer customer service was prompt and spoke fluent English. After several attempts at booting, he advised me to perform a complete system recovery. After several hours of reformatting the drive, the computer was still unable to boot. I am not sure if this model is a batch of lemons but there are a lot of similar complaints about booting.

Other Thoughts: The computer has a feel of a build-it-yourself minimalistic approach to user interface. This means no bloatware but appears very rudimentary.
The specs of the computer look great and the price is extremely competitive so one would expect that this computer would be an extremely good value. You just have to pray that you don't pick the same lemon I did.

1 out of 5 eggsDay 6 BSOD won't boot

Pros: None

Cons: Computer BSOD on fifth day of use and won't start. Now I am on hold for 20 minutes so far to talk to newegg about a refund.

5 out of 5 eggsExceeds Expectations

Pros: Bought this as a home system to be used for normal applications and gaming as well. It has far surpassed my expectations on the gaming front. Runs quietly, boots easily, no hesitation during online gaming. The graphics are nice, and it pairs well with the 27" ASUS monitor I purchased.

Cons: None at this point.
