3 out of 5 eggsLoved it, until it died

Pros: Good features, great performance, decent price point. I hooked it up to dual23" ASUS monitors and it so pretty. The thing is crazy fast, tons of space. Played all of my video games at max settings without even breathing hard.

Cons: 1 year and 2 months after getting this PC, it just crashed out of the blue and came back up to a blank screen. Now it won't stay running more than a few minutes, and I have to manually power it off and back up to get it to reboot. I've monitored the processors, fans, memory etc, thru the UEFI Bios (a pretty cool bios type dashboard) and everything looks great. Temps, voltages, etc, but still it just crashes. Created a case with ASUS support, live chat and basically, I just have to send it in and hope they don't take advantage of me with the charges to repair it. I assume it's a motherboard issue, since that's what I seem to see the most comments about for this model. Since it's a year old, do I still have the box? Nope just got rid of it like 2 weeks ago. Will they send me a shipping container of some type? Nope, they never do that they say. Awesome.

Other Thoughts: I know I see a lot of complaints about ASUS support. I personally haven't had a lot of issues with them. I also have two ASUS laptops, monitors, etc. I had to replace a keyboard on the one laptop, and they were very helpful in determining the exact part number for what I needed. Their live chat is pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Now if they would just send me a box...they said in the RMA, to get shipping materials from the store of purchase, so I'll be asking Newegg. Do I expect they'll send me any, no not really. But it can't hurt to ask. I still am generally happy with the ASUS products I've purchased, I just hope this gets repaired quickly and the cost isn't ridiculous.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after 8.1 upgrade

Pros: Worked fine for a brief period of time.

Cons: A windows update following the 8.1 upgrade killed this machine. I can now only run it in safe mode for short periods of time.

Frustratingly, none of ASUS's driver update utilities are working since the upgrade, which forced me to find and download various drivers elsewhere, even after upgrading these, the machine is still dead.

Other Thoughts: This will be the last ASUS hardware I buy.

1 out of 5 eggsDead in 6 months

Pros: Was quite a fast computer initially and handled everything I threw at it.

Cons: Started noticing the computer getting slower over time, even though it was not running any major programs. Never used it for gaming, only email and quickbooks basically. Problems started when the computer kept going into sleep and not waking up. A few days ago it just started randomly crashing, while just idling. Now it won't stay on for more then a few minutes, even in safe mode. Had our IT people look it over and they said it was most likely a motherboard or heatsink problem. Gotta send it in now to Asus and wait a few weeks. Too bad my business can't be down that long and I have to buy a replacement unit, leaving me with this extra Asus for a coffee table.

Other Thoughts: Won't be buying another one of these anytime soon.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsDead ALREADY

Pros: Fast, competent when it was functional

Cons: Died after 90 days

Other Thoughts: I can't imagine EVER buying another computer for work from Newegg.

Dead computer requires sending it back to Asus, and waiting for them to replace it. Am I missing something??

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent PC for the money

Pros: Very fast, nice design, outstanding hardware for the money and it's a ASUS! with a bonus of world class customer support in the rare instance you need it.

Cons: As stated in a previous review. System will run excellent for what most people will use it for. However if you do plan on upgrading components you may have to upgrade the power supply since it is only a 300watt PS unit. I will not take an egg for that though as it wont affect me.

Other Thoughts: A excellent pc for everything. You won't be disappointed especially for the price point.

5 out of 5 eggsFriggin' Awesome

Pros: CPU, RAM, GPU, HDD... you would pay more if you built this machine yourself. Also the case is pretty slick and has very nice airflow. Runs skyrim on ultra without breaking a sweat.

Cons: came with windows 8, cant take an egg for this though since its not really newegg's fault. Installed windows 7 home premium on it.

Other Thoughts: worth.

4 out of 5 eggsNice System

Pros: This system is quite. It is fast and with the second HDD installed you don't have to worry about expansion. Windows 8 is sleek and streamlined. Some people will find it strange but all the features of windows 7 are there it just has a new look and feel. Once you get used to it I believe it is quicker. The 16Gigs of system Ram and 3Gigs of Graphics Ram are amazing. Spend the money on a well built machine and you won't have to up grade later*. (See Cons) about Weak PSU.

Cons: Small Power Supply. 300Watts, come on Asus $1299.00 and only a 300watt. That Sucks! Seagate HDDs are loud but they do work well.
Partitioned Master Drive. Both drives are on the SATA 3 jacks but data transfer from 1 to the other is slow. You don't get a copy of Windows 8 on a disk.

Other Thoughts: This is the solid system. The power supply is weak however most people will not have a problem. I hate partitioned drives and with a second 2tb drive installed the partition is a bad idea. I think that is the reason the data transfer between drives is slow. All in all a good Desktop for any home. I connected this system to a View Sonic T2222 Touch Screen, and it works great with Windows 8. My 2yr old loves to finger paint on the screen. Asus and View Sonic T2222 a great combo. Thanks Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Gaming PC

Pros: Incredibly fast boot and load times with massive storage space and excellent graphics.

Cons: The only annoyance this PC has is that it comes with an unallocated hard disk partition that makes it appear you only have 2TB total instead of 4TB. However, this can be fixed in 60 seconds if you have the sense to do a Google search.

Other Thoughts: To remove this unallocated partition, you need to view Disk Management in My Computer. You'll notice that Disk 1 is the D: drive that is a single unit. Disk 0, however, is the 150GB C: drive with three recovery partitions AND about 1.7TB of unallocated space that you simply can't right click in format.

Here's how to fix that:

1) Hit the “Windows Key” + “R”. This will open the run dialogue box. Type “diskpart” and hit “OK”.

2) This will open a black command prompt like window. Type “list disk”. This will display all the disks.

3) You must now select the disk with the OEM partition on it. Again in my case it is “Disk 0”. To select the disk you must type “select disk 0”.

4) You can now type “list partition” to list all the partitions on the disk just in case you want to verify you absolutely have the right disk selected.

5) You must now select the partition. In my case it was “Partition 5”. To do this you must type the command “select partition 5”.

6) Now type “delete partition override”. That partition will now be removed, and you can modify it in Disk Management.

7) Right click that space you've now freed and hit "Format". Give it a letter designation (I used Z:), and now you're done. You will see that disk drive in My Computer.
