Other Thoughts: I've had this second unit for a while now. It fired right up out of the box.

I had to contact ASUS for assistance to get rid of the automatic update program, which will annoyingly pester you every time the unit wakes up. Some of the other applications it came with are pretty useless, as they are 'teaser' versions of their full-featured apps. (Can you say, Bloatware? Sure, I knew you could.)

When using the headphone jack on the front panel, I hear all sorts of noise, like aliasing. This is with no visible apps running, and it gets worse when I run certain apps. I am hesitant to contact ASUS, as they might want me to sent the unit in for repair. Two problems with that: 1, lose the use of my only PC and 2, they have a disclaimer that they can't guarantee all of your software will still be intact after the unit is returned to you. I don't want to take that risk, so will live with the headphone background noise. Maybe ASUS customer service will see my review, and provide a simple fix like swapping out a board.

Overall, its a good PC for the price.

I bought from best buy which had TERRIBLE customer service. The hard drive just suddenly FAILED and then i had to send it into Asus, which sent the thing back with no OPERATING SYSTEM? Expecting ME to pay for another one. luckily best buy wants to give me a new one but now im going to get to wait another week for best buy to do their jobs. Overall, two HORRIBLE customers in the likes of customer service.

I apologize for the issues that you have experienced with the desktop computer. Was the computer sent into RMA by yourself or by Best Buy? If the desktop was purchased at Best Buy, it is up to them to submit the RMA and try to fix it for you. Was it Best Buy or Asus that was charging you for the o/s install? Asus warranty repair will never, ever charge a customer to reinstall the operating system, especially if the device was effective in the first place. Pros: Easy set up and installation. Monitor and printer drivers with no hassle at all. The system handles our everyday tasks, email, photos etc easily. Simple video editing was also handled with no stress.

Cons: Windows 8 is ok, its very different and learning it is annoying but not too hard.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was great handling the transaction and the standard and very cheap shipping came with in 3 days. Very nice.

Pros: It was pretty, although it didn't turn on.

Cons: Unit did not boot up immediately after taking it our of the box. (I technically owned this PC only 30 minutes.)

Other Thoughts: I had read a number of reviews on this model, and ASUS in general. There were folks who reported their desktops did not boot up straight out of the box. I decided to take a chance, because the specifications were so good. Guess what?

Furthermore, ASUS customer support was less than stellar. I had to ask for a supervisor because the front line CSR told me I would have to pay to ship their faulty unit to a repair facility.

Also of note: there were what appeared to be two sheared-off pop rivets with this PC. One was rattling around in the box, and the other was inside the PC itself. I had to remove the side panel (the one that does not void the warranty) and tip the unit over and over until the second rivet fell out.

I fully intend to come back to Newegg and report how the repair process played out. Stay tuned!

Cons: The power supply isn't as robust as I would like for additional expansion. But you could upgrade it easily

Other Thoughts: My Dad loves his new computer. He still isn't very good at counterstrike.
