1 out of 5 eggsDon't Count On The Warranty -- Won't Be Honored

Pros: Good specs and the promise of 3yr NBD onsite warranty, but that's about it.

Cons: A 3yr Next Business Day onsite warranty -- NOT!

I sold two of these to one of my oldest and best clients as an alternative to the more expensive Dell desktops they had been using previously. I won't make that mistake ever again.

The power supply on one of these failed while I was out of town on business and when my client called ASUS Tech Support to get service, they were told the system only had a mail-in depot warranty, even though it clearly has a 3yr NBD onsite warranty. As this system was one of their two Point of Sale systems, this caused a major headache for them. When I got back into town and finally got my client calmed down after threatening to sue me, I called ASUS Tech Support and was told the same thing they were -- mail-in warranty only.

As it had already been out of service for almost two weeks at this point and my client was SEVERELY ticked off and threatening to pull all future business, I had no choice but to source a power supply myself so I could get my client back up and running ASAP. On top of that, now I'm also out the cost of the replacement power supply that ASUS should have replaced to start with.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY ANOTHER ASUS PRODUCT!!!

Other Thoughts: I've been a loyal ASUS user/reseller for more than a decade, but I will not let ANY manufacturer put my business or my reputation at risk. I've spent almost 15 years building a successful business based on quality reliable products. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM!

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible (ongoing) Experience

Pros: Specs of the computer were good for the price.

Cons: Wouldn't even boot upon arrival without re-installing OS. Should have sent it back then for a refund. We've been working with ASUS Warranty since March. They've replaced the motherboard, hard drive, case fan and still not working. Next business day is not what it seems, they send the part out relatively quick then have someone come out but it takes more than a day. Then I was talked into sending the computer in which didn't make a lot of sense because of the NBD warranty but I figured it would be quicker than having service come out a few more times. Upon return yesterday the computer would not boot and had to enter start-up repair mode. It would not fix itself so I need to re-install Windows again. So we can't even check to see if the main issue was resolved after their techs worked on the computer. Last ASUS computer I'll EVER buy, even if it had a lifetime warranty!

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Asus generally makes a great product. I've been selling there products for over 15 years now and wouldn't put any other motherboard in my computers.

Cons: The 3 yr next business day warranty is a joke. I've purchased 5 of this model, and all 5 have bad motherboards. I have one that has taken over a month to be fixed (going on the third motherboard, and second DVD player). I've had times where I've called the tech support number and it just rings and rings and no one answers. The on site techs say they will call you back on a botched repair but they don't.

Other Thoughts: If you’re buying a ASUS computer thinking your going to get a good on site warranty think again. If you’re a business you could be without your computer for weeks.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS will not honor warranty

Pros: I couldn't tell you any, it did not run long enough

Cons: Hard drive did 2 weeks after install. Well first Newegg said it was not eligible for return even though it had not been 30 days. I then called ASUS, first they said to RMA it through Newegg. Then they would not acknowledge that it had a warranty(so much for a 3 yr. next biz day). Then they started to ask questions like It is not used in a commercial environment? It is a business class machine where do you think it will be used?

Other Thoughts: So our customer has been without there new computer for over a month now. And it is making my company look bad. So if you are expecting any warranty to be honored on this PC...DON'T buy it!

2 out of 5 eggsBig Asus dissapointment.

Pros: Great configuration for the money.

Cons: Got 3 computers for my office. Poor job with the description saying that it is coming with Windows 7 Pro, not specified 64 bit. Calling the customer service is a joke, called 5 times to get the COA for the windows and finally the guy says to me that computers do not come with product key and I have to return the units. If you need to call them for a technical support, be patient, maybe after the 3rd call they will answer. If you want to reinstall Win7 good luck.

Other Thoughts: Newegg should specify if Windows is 32 or 64 bit.
Asus customer service needs very serious overhaul.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid workstations

Pros: Nice form factor, good quality on the peripherals, and components, glad it was still available with Win7 and not win8. I have these boxes configured to run XP-Mode for legacy software, and they operate flawlessly (and if you know anything about XP-Mode that is no easy feat), all around solid machine. Com ports(Yay), comes with a nice lightweight Asus Mouse pad, Packaged well, also the asus utilities are great for troubleshooting and monitoring these systems, as well as managing driver updates without bloating or slowing down the system (Integrates nicely).

Cons: OS install has a very major flaw, that was an semi easy fix. I hooked 5 up to a kvm switch on a workbench, to configure all the boxes at the same time. Powered all of them on at the same time but only box 1 recognized the Keyboard and mouse and the rest did not and a restart did not reconize the peripherials or ps2 KB/Mouse. So to fix this it required a recovery boot pre install to restore the system boot option, one at a time that amounted to 4 extra hours per box just to get back to the install process. As well as a separate keyboard mouse and monitor per box, At which point i had to hook up 1 kb/mouse per box to run the installs. other than that they run great and install/configuration was a breeze.
Also the vertical stand foot pegs are very low quality and awkward, as well as very hard to keep in place because they free-float. plan on horizontal placement.
Has built in Bing and AV bloatware that you are forced to install to continue with the OS install but they are easily removed, post OS install.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend these to anyone looking for a solid workstation especially if XP Mode is something you are looking at implementing into your infrastructure.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Desk Computer

Pros: So far this is looking like it is going to be a great computer for our company! i love how it is pre loaded with profession OS that right off the bat was a 100 dollar savings so that already a win. the computer has a fairly small foot print for what you get. good speed and runs fairly quiet which is good if the computer is going to be right under your monitor!

Cons: only cons i can think of are that the computer did not come with a sonic screwdriver ... because every needs a sonic screwdriver

Other Thoughts: one good thing that i have noticed with this computer is that it is only using a single 8gig stick of ram so will be very easy to add another 8 gigs ... but really for a business computer you really dont need more

5 out of 5 eggsamazing

Pros: Amazing sound quality. Really good mic especially if your streaming

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Stuff cotton balls in the headphones if u have small ear... Makes it much comfier. Mic could use a cover incase you breathe hard so it just absorbs the air overall awesome

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Just got it today but it's a nice size, excellent specs, and well built, especially for the price and business use.

Cons: None so far, should there be any, there is 3 years on site next day repair.
