3 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: Great gaming PC. Everything runs smoothly and it allows you to run multiple games. The system can get warm which may have been the issue with my first graphics card. They repaired everything for free which was nice, but left me without a computer for a week.

I would recommend this if nothing went wrong with it.

Cons: Graphics card went bad after 3 months or so of moderate to heavy use. Im happy it at least happened under warranty. Asus gave me a hard time about who would pay shipping back to the manufacturer. After I spoke with a few different people and complained a bit about a new computers graphics card going bad in three months, they sent a shipping label. Got it back in a week with a new graphics card.

Other Thoughts: 3 stars because of the bad graphics card, but overall a good PC. Not sure if I would buy another Asus product after receiving this and two monitors with stuck pixels. In my mind the name Asus offers better quality, but I have yet to see it in my experience.

8 months later and it runs like new.

4 out of 5 eggs2nd one purchased

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: 1) Price;
2) i7 processor, but note that it is not the K version;
3) Graphics card, but again, not the fastest version;
4) Windows 8 comes installed, but will need to upgrade to Windows 8.1;
5) Runs very quiet and cool.

Cons: 1) Somewhat cheap case, especially on inside;
2) Only room for 1 or (maybe) 2 additional HDDs;
3) No eSata or Firewire connections to Motherboard;
4) Purple ("Upgrade to Windows 8.1") sticker on case is really hard to remove;
5) Rebate takes 8 weeks to come, and only if all of the requirements are followed *exactly* as stated.

Other Thoughts: As the title indicates, this is the 2nd one I purchased. I got this one for my son, who games frequently, after having very good results with the first one. I'm not sure why others have had different (i.e., bad) experiences with their machines. ? maybe QC issues; I really don't know. Neither of the machines I got, separated by 6 months, had any issues related to freezing or to the HDMI connector. I also don't understand the comment about "bloatware", as there really isn't anything other than a couple of ASUS items and the usual Windows 8.1 apps and features.
Note that I also am running VMware (free version) on one of the machines without issues. Finally, the price is only about 4-5% higher than it was during the Thanksgiving ("Black Friday") sales.
In summary, I have built many mid-range - high-end machines; I would consider this one to be mid-range+. There is no way that I could build one with the same quality parts for less.

1 out of 5 eggsExtremely disappointing

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: Very little, relative to the cost. It looks ok. It often times functions about as well as you'd hope a $1,000 DESKTOP would function.

Cons: Pretty much everything. Performance is shockingly low for a desktop of this price. I have this thing crash when running dated games. It freezes frequently. It comes so bloated with Windows 8 junk that it barely has any storage. I really regret buying this machine.

Other Thoughts: Last time I buy from Asus.

1 out of 5 eggsI wouldn't

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: I wouldn't know

Cons: DOA, graphics don't work

Other Thoughts: I really wanted this computer. It's unfortunate that ASUS still has this computer available with so many defective machines out there. Like others, no graphics.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsWARNING - DO NOT BUY THIS

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: Does game well, WHEN IT WORKS...

Cons: I don't write reviews, but I'm writing this to warn anyone who see's the 4 star review like I did.

I have now had 3 of the same computer within the last 2 weeks, all had the same exact defect. I'm using the 8GB model.

I have called Asus and Newegg and they couldn't do much but say to return it.

How much time do I have to spend returning/exchanging a computer that is $1,000 and suppose to work? Not acceptable.

PLEASE don't make the same mistake I made and look at the 4 star review, Newegg received a batch of absolutely lemons.

The problem is that only ONE of all the ports work on the computer, the one HDMI cable connected right to the graphics card.

This isn't some troll post, this is a legit.

Literally they have sent me 3 computers with the same problem.

Not to mention when I bought the ASUS screen the first time, it had a dead pixel in it....

I wish someone from the companies would make this right and do a recall of some sort, or at least take it off the website.

Goodluck everyone on finding the right gaming PC for you, this is one to stay away from.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Is First Quality!

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: Stable Product with a long run history of great hardware.

NVIDIA GRAPHICS are upper end playing WOT at Max settings.

i7 Intel are super fast.

1TB Harddrive

Great Package!

Cons: No real Cons.

Other Thoughts: Another front access slot would be nice. But its not one of those things you don't see before you buy. I'm a fan of stand alone sound cards with front mounted controls, but now there are desktop units that take the place of front mounts... so no biggie.

Been a ASUS customer for near 25 years and only use their motherboards in all my PC builds (11) and always great customer service and great hardware, never had one die and only one that was damaged in shipping that they replaced really quick.

I started to build a new computer and looked over PC's and seen this one had pretty much what I would have built, so I'm very happy having it come ready to use. I updated to Windows 8.1 as soon as I got it using the free update.

3 out of 5 eggsBasic gaming system

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: - Fully decked out with USB 2 and 3 ports, plus slots for SD, MS, CF.
- Surprisingly fast bootup, only about 5-10 sec less than my Ultrabook.
- Comes with a standard keyboard and a mouse, should you need one. Personally, though, since this is a gaming system they might have included a gaming mouse for 50 bucks more.
- Runs up to four monitors; I'm running three as I write this. In contrast to other reviewers, mine worked right off the bat.
- Not exactly quiet, but the noise level is not intrusive at all.

Cons: - case is sort of obnoxiously huge
- minor quibble, but I had to use Goo Gone to remove the stickers. Hey, M$, if you want me to keep your logos on my machine, then send me checks for advertising revenue.

- No bluetooth, wireless, and the integrated soundcard kind of sucks. Unfortunately, opening the case voids the warranty, should you wish to pop in a decent sound card and wifi card (to free up USB slots).

- includes an OEM video card. personally, I have no issues with framerates and its ability to handle three monitors, but I don't play FPS.

Other Thoughts: I had only an Ultrabook that had virtually no gaming capability (which is expected). So, I bought an entry-level rig with the idea of adding to it as time went on. What I got is exactly what I was expecting. Features that really should have been included include the dock for external drives (if the mobo supports this), and the option to include an SSD for boot (again, if supported).

I've been a loyal ASUS customer ever since I built my first rig to play Quake II, so maybe I'm overlooking faults others might find unacceptable.

If you game with a hard LAN connection and use a headset, you can probably get by with things as they are.

1 out of 5 eggsNever buying ASUS again

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: System is great, until you decide you want to upgrade something...

Cons: ...Then you find that the case mysteriously won't open and ASUS support won't give you the time of day. Seriously. I can't install the free RAM that *came with the computer* because ASUS refuses to tell me how to open the case.

Other Thoughts: Never buy from ASUS. Never, never, never.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

If your computer is brand-new, opening the case may void your manufacturer’s warranty especially if the case has a seal sticker on it. To discuss your concerns about your unit, please reach out to me at cl-celeste@asus.com and include case#3516921 in the subject line. Also, please provide me its serial number. 1 out of 5 eggsPaperweight.

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: Awesome computer.

Cons: Terrible OS.

Other Thoughts: Loved the computer for the one month it worked until Windows 8.1 apparently lost a Boot Configuration file and since the bundle didn't come with a repair/installation disc I've effectively been set back with an 1100 dollar paperweight until I fork over 100 bucks for a copy of Windows 8.

DO NOT BUY unless you have a copy of Windows 8 or Windows 7 etc. lying around because you'll be bummed when this error happens to you.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We are sorry to hear your experience. The product usually comes with a manual. The manual has instructions on how to create a restoration drive. But in your case, if the Boot Configuration file is missing, you can contact us--the Customer Loyalty Team to help you. 5 out of 5 eggsGreat components - note for monitor issues.

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US011S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8

Pros: Amazing value on the components in this bundle.

Cons: Lack of documentation of how exactly it is set up inside (opening voids warranty)

Other Thoughts: I'm writing this for the 1 star reviews with trouble with the monitor displaying. On my machine, only the horizontal ports (DVI) on the bottom are connected to the graphics card. The vertical ports... just for customization down the line. If you find this fixes your problem, I'd ask why you didn't call the 24/7 help number which solved this issue for me in 5 minutes? I wish it was clear before hand... but was easily resolved. Consider removing your review if this solves your problem.
