5 out of 5 eggsASUS G-10AC

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: 32 gigs ram
3 gigs video memory
will run everything maxed out

Cons: keyboard & mouse are cheap and worthless
gtx 760 is a scaled-down version running at 192 bits and it can overheat (80+C) when running certain games maxed out

Other Thoughts: you will need to partition drive C to get rid of their silly drive d:"DATA" partition which is incompatible with most games wanting to install on drive C: I used a free DL partition app for doing just that.

-Runs all of my 2013 Steam released games on High/Ultra settings no problem 30-60 FPS.
-Never had over heating issues.
-Plenty of memory for hundreds of games.

Cons: -Price seems a bit high, could of built a custom PC for half the cost with better results!
-No SSD
-Windows 8... MEH

1 out of 5 eggsTHE WORST

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: none

Cons: CRASHED AFTER 4-5 MONTHS OF USE!

Other Thoughts: Worked fine for the first 4-5 months then all of a sudden crashed. My graphics card was clearly failing and they asked me to do a bunch of useless troubleshooting. I had to call ASUS about 20X before they were willing to take my PC in for Repair. They refused to pay shipping and I had to pay for packaging.

I just got my PC back from ASUS and the unit is damaged! The front portion of my PC does not match up with the USB, SD,Audio jacks in front of the PC! Unbelievable! They shipped the PC back to me with minimal packaging! ASUS SUPPORT IS THE WORST. BUYER BEWARE.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertized - great value for money

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: It offers great performance for a reasonable price to have 32GB of RAM and an 8-core i7 4000 seriers processor, a higher-end NVidia card, and a TB of disk.
The popular video games, like World of Tanks, now runs at 60 FPS on "High" graphics settings. So this is a great gaming machine for a budget with a lot of headroom for future games.

Cons: When using one of those PC migration tools, it couldn't transfer all of my old machine to this machine. The C drive was configured too small and I had to manually combine the C and D drive into one 1TB C drive.
Mind you, that isn't a criticism of ASUS, as it is configured like a server for efficiency.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend it as a gaming machine!
Also, there is a lot of room in the desktop box and 32 GB of RAM to allow for lots of headroom to upgrade, further extending the life of this machine!

4 out of 5 eggsParts is parts

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: I needed to replace an ancient P4 running XP so I bought this for the processor, Video card and the RAM. It was a bargain for those parts alone.

Cons: It's a Micro ATX motherboard in a Mid Tower sized case with only two 5 inch bays and two 3 1/2 inch bays, with a silly plastic sloping front that takes up too much space and does not provide direct acess to the 5 inch bays. The top bay is for a slim style laptop drive! Had I known this was the deal I would not have bought this particular machine.
It also comes with Win 8.1 on a 1 TB HDD, which I unplugged and replaced with a 1/2 G Corsair SSD and Win 7 Pro (Home will not run all 32 GB of RAM). I also added a basic ASUS DVD R/W +R DL burner.
It comes with a BD ROM, but no software to play BluRay discs - you have to go get that yourself. Kinda cheap of ASUS, if you ask me. That same laptop style drive also does CD/DVD RW on up to +/- R DL discs.

Other Thoughts: It works, it boots in about 5 seconds, it's SILENT, it blasts through the latest hard core games on a BenQ 24" 16x9 1 ms monitor. I have a feeling I will be using this as my primary machine for a long time, probably adding more SSD for Xmas.

I did buy $500 parts for a backup machine to run WIN XP3, since I have so much software that will not run on WIN 7 or 8. ;)

4 out of 5 eggsPretty impressive so far...

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: I bought this to replace a system I built 8 years ago. I was running the latest processor and RAM etc of the time. I was also running Windows XP sp3. Since Microsoft was no longer supporting it, I decided it was time for an upgrade. I did a lot of research and came across this desktop. As most people know, a gaming rig is usually the high end of high end, and this item is no exception. Everything runs instantly with very little time to load. The boot time is somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 to 15 seconds (this is quite a step up from around 30 minutes or so). I read in previous reviews that some people were having trouble with their displays. There are 2 sets of connections and apparently Asus was listening, they covered the ports that were disabled and the GTX card works extremely well.
There have been quite a few negative reviews here, but all in all I am very impressed with this desktop. There are couple of exceptions that I will list in the Con's section.
The graphics are smooth and everything launches almost instantly. I love this unit!!!
If you are anything like me, you take a lot of videos and pictures. This model is great for using Nero 2014 Platinum and the video card excels at making videos smooth as glass.
USB 3.0 is blazingly fast as well as the A/C Networking card.

Cons: My only con is Windows 8.1 is not compatible with a lot of the hardware that I used with my old system and there is no way around it. I have an old Sony Handycam that I used quite often that recorded to DV tapes. There are no IEEE ports for firewire and the USB connection is not recognized. So my previously recorded movies are practically unusable. In addition, I had 3 hard drives (1, 1.5 and 2 TB) attached to my previous computer, and 1 of the drives, which housed all my personal files and the aforementioned DV recordings, was not recognized at all. My plan was to use an external dock or enclosure to transfer my files to the new desktop. Nothing I tried worked with one exception: connecting the dock to a router and using it as a network drive. It took days (literally) to transfer the files, but it did eventually work.

Other Thoughts: All in all this is a great system. Windows 8 takes some getting used to, and if you're like me and have been resisting the upgrade, make sure you have a way to transfer files in a way other than using a network drive. Also check any components or programs you plan to use in Windows 8 are compatible before hoping they will work. I spent quite a bit of money in addition to the price of this desktop in an attempt to use my older hardware. Surprisingly some stuff worked, but most didn't. Do yourself a favor and if you're thinking of making an upgrade, buy this model.

1 out of 5 eggsSecond try

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: None on this computer

Cons: DOA - purchased almost a month ago and still have yet to get it to power up.

ASUS tech support is practically useless.

Other Thoughts: ASUS desktops are AWFUL.

I really like their components but as far as a desktop provider, I will never consider it again.

I have built hundreds of computers so I do have some knowledge.

This is the second one I purchased. My first review is below. Foolishly, I purchased another after I finally got the first running because of its blazing speed.

The second one came in and would not start. Lights would blink but otherwise DOA. Finally got ASUS to RMA it. Again, postage was on me!

When it finally came back, it was a total DOA!!! No lights, no fan on the power supply. Nothing.

The first time I contacted ASUS they couldn't do anything because their own computers were down. How freaking funny.

After 2 other tries, I finally got an RMA but couldn't get a fedex pick up although I promised one. When fedex tried, they said I had to carry it to a store. Sorry but that doesn't work where I am at!!

Contacted them a fourth time, and their computers are down again!! After a month I am still left with a non working piece of junk.

STAY AWAY!

PS - I did purchase the extra onsite warranty, but it doesn't kick in until after the manufacturers one year warranty is over. So I'd avoid that as well!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsLooks ok but!

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: ASUS (they really make good stuff)
STABLE BRAND
NVIDIA GRAPHICS
I7
Large HDD
Blu-Ray

Cons: Windows 8
32 GB RAM (I will get to this in Other Thoughts)
There is a better way to configure this for the same cost, if you were building yourself see Other Thoughts section.

Other Thoughts: I do not own this machine reviewing based on config.
Right now unless you do 3D rendering beyond gaming 32 GB RAM is actually slower than 16 in most cases, this has to do with how fast the CPU can Address the RAM. Because you will likely never need over 16GB of rem in the near future you could speed the machine up by going to 16.
I would rather see 16GB Ram and a 770 GTX Card. It would be a better way to spend the money.
OR A 120 GB SSD Drive for the OS Boot drive.
And a machine built for Gaming would be better with Windows 7 (at least until 8.2 is released)

If you buy this you might want to look into how to configure the extra 16GB of Ram as a RAM drive this way at least you would use the drive and speed up the system even more.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed.

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: FAST.

Cons: It won't operate well enough to use its blazing speed.

Other Thoughts: We received the computer and it was DOA. We did contact ASUS and they couldn't do anything so they had us send it back to them for repairs. The freight was on us.

It was returned in about 2 weeks and the onboard wired network port is DOA. So now I either send it back to ASUS for repairs or void the warranty and open it myself and either fix it or install another network card.

This was purchased for CAD station so the down time is totally unacceptable.

Typically I really like ASUS products but this computer appears to be a dud.

I'd stay away from their PC's until they get more of the bugs worked out.

4 out of 5 eggsNearly awesome

This review is from: ASUS G10AC-US009S Desktop PC Intel Core i7 4770 (3.40GHz) 32GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: Great motherboard and cpu and 32 g ram at under $1400 make this a pretty good buy. Bluetooth and antenna nice too-I've got a much better relationship with my router now. very impressive case. Totally quiet fans so far. I have not had the noise and bearing probs some people have had. Once I went through some Steam and NVIDIA trauma with Metro Last Light, I will say the game now runs very well. Handles all the older sand-boxes like S-COP and FO3 nicely. Torchlight II is beyootiful. Am waiting on Bioshock Infinite.

Cons: OEM graphics card. I am NOT pleased with this and it has cost NewEgg a star here-I wish I could make it 1.5 stars. There have been shenanigans with these ASUS gaming rigs and their OEM graphics cards for some time. NewEgg needs to correct the advertising on their site. I feel that someone owes me a full retail GTX 760. ALSO that HORRIBLE PURPLE STICKER. Please please please stop doing that to your customers. I really don't want to have to hose down my chassis with goo-gone, folks. Not amusing. Finally, instructions on set-up could be cleaner. I agree with several other reviewers-initial updates seem very slow.

Other Thoughts: I had the same initial freakout regarding the graphics ports and what I thought might be a non-working display. But why is only one set of display ports on the back hooked up? Nonetheless, some of the 1-* reviews should be discounted-they are not really representative of the product. Windows 8 is a teething issue. I do like the ASUS desktop. That helped a lot. I WANT MY RETAIL GTX 760!! Grr. I knew about the OEM 500 watt PS, so I won't complain about that-when the warranty expires, I'll upgrade the PS and GPU. However, I'd still buy this again-when I think what I got for 1800 in 2005 from Dell there is no comparison-in the future, the ARE no roads.
