4 out of 5 eggsGood power

Pros: i7-4770! 16GB of RAM! Came with a free pair of headphones! What's not to like?!

Cons: - Optical drive was DOA. Hence, 1 star docked.

- Way too much bloatware. Started up much slower than my nearly 7-year-old Acer Travelmate that it replaced, though the SSD in the Acer might make a slight difference. :) Crapware removed, faster now.

- Hard drive is a Toshiba DT01ACA100; doesn't have the best reviews on Newegg. I'll see how it holds up. But you can't expect WD Black drives in a pre-built machine.

Other Thoughts: It would seem like the optical drive wasn't QC'd at the factory or by the ASUS guys that assembled the machine. Didn't show up in Device Manager or BIOS. Newegg was nice to work with on the RMA, but I was without my new computer for two weeks or so. Otherwise, everything's great. Liking Windows 7!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming dektop!

Pros: What can I say? You'll have a hard time building one with these specs at this price. Other desktops I considered with these specs came out to $1200 or more. And yes, it runs games like a champ. It will run pretty much anything you throw at it on high settings. Assassins Creed IV runs very, VERY smooth. I was looking for a desktop I wouldn't have to upgrade for awhile, and this was my choice after extensive product research and parts research. Asus has become a very trusted brand in my opinion. I have nothing but good things to say about this company. They make great parts and great computers. I have an Asus notebook as well, and they have provided the best pc experience BY FAR, for a great price! And what I also love about this desktop, it's quiet and low on power consumption, which will save you money on your electricity bill in the long run. If you're looking for a gaming powerhouse, and have around $1000 budget, I would honestly consider buying this model over building one. It will not only save you money, but time, hassle, and the whole pc has a year warranty just in case something does fart out on you in the first year. Sure, the graphics card isn't the BEST, and it's considered "entry level." But combined with the i7 4770 and 16 gb of ram, it has no problem at all. The card isn't a power hog either, something to think about when you're looking at your electricity bill every month.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I've been considering buying a new desktop for years now. I have been researching parts every few months or so. I've spent countless hours trying to save a buck on my new build. So please, take my advice here, I've done my homework. I was considering going AMD for the processor, only to learn they use almost double the power as Intel chips when comparing benchmarks. Sure, AMD might be a little more affordable, but those savings will just go toward your electricity bill. And higher power consumption also means more heat, which in turn will not only slow things down, but in turn will reduce the life of your chip. Some swear by AMD, and I did for a long while. But Intel is now strides ahead of AMD, and it's worth the extra bucks in my opinion. Forget getting a PS4 or an Xbox One, get this instead! You'll be glad you did!

4 out of 5 eggsGood little machine

Pros: I have built a number of machines and this guy isn't bad for what you get. I have not tried to add anything to it.

Cons: None so far...

Other Thoughts: I figured it would be a little quicker on startup then it was but I think it's hard drive limited and if I put in a SSD I think the startup would be much better. Anyhow the McAfee suit isn't too bad but I definitely got rid of it. Overall not too bad for the price with a solid graphics card. Tough to build a similar machine for this price.
