4 out of 5 eggsNice but a few issues

Pros: Fast, large hard drive and good price

Cons: No dedicated sound or graphics card. Bad keyboard.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a nice computer. I replaced an old Dell XP system and wow the speed difference is so nice. Before I wasted so much time waiting on things to load but not know. For the price this computer has everything an average user like myself needs. The sound quality is fine for music. As good as my computer with a seperate sound card was. It has everything I need.

I've had it less than a week but the problems i've discovered are:

1) Keyboard. The lettering on the keyboard is a very faint gray. It's hard to see during the day but at night forget it. If you are not a good typer and need to look at the keys then you should be prepared to get another keyboard. Honestly I can't believe they would sell this keyboard. Why not white lettering. What were they thinking?

2)The power switch is at the top right corner of the unit. It's a bar, you press on the end of the silver bar to turn it on and off. It's in a really bad location. When I first started to use it my knee hit the corner of the pc and turned off the power. Later, I was going to move the unit back a little and grabbed it where anyone would and of course that's where the power switch was and I turned it off by accident again. Asus please do not put the on off switch in the corner fo the unit.

3) The front two usb ports are too close to the dvd recorder. The dvd recorder is hidden behind a panel which opens when you eject the dvd. I had my mouse and keyboard plugged into the front usb's plugs and when the dvd opens/closes it has been grabbing the mouse/keyboard cables. The cables are also in the way when you insert/remove a dvd from the recorder. Also no light when the dvd recorder/player is doing something.

So a couple of design probs but for the price i'd definitely have to recommend it. The processor is really fast compared to what I had been using. I'm happy with the purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsI Was Lucky

Pros: Fast
Light
Quiet
Large HDD
USB 3
Optical Drive
8 gb RAM

Cons: Integrated Graphics
Little attention to detail

Other Thoughts: I will start this out by saying that I have been building computers for over 10 years. I am good and taking electronics apart and putting them back together again.

So when I got this computer and plugged it in, I didn't panic when nothing happened. I kept pressing the power button but there was nothing. I took the side and front panels off and saw that the wire connecting the power button to the motherboard wasn't even attached to the front panel.

If I didn't know anything about computers I would have thought that I received a dead unit and had to RMA. I still don't know how this passed QC since it wouldn't even power on.

I was able to snake the cable back into position and everything works beautifully now.

I don't appreciate having to completely open my brand new computer within 15 minutes of getting it delivered.

Even the tech support was great. Good add/expandable capabilities.

2 out of 5 eggsupdate on anonymous of 4/28/14

Pros: working well overall

Cons: update on comment of anonymous of 4/28/14. I've identified the problem. There is a problem with the HDMI port. It does not communicate well with a monitor. the signal starts up and then goes to black. some sound comes in but even that disappears. I've chatted with the ASUS people and upgraded the drivers but that did not help. I'm disappointed and am not looking forward to having to return it back to NewEgg after all the time I've spent with it. I am still hoping that ASUS can come online and identify a fix for this.

Other Thoughts: will keep you posted.

3 out of 5 eggsASUS M11AD- US0010

Pros: Wonderful speed. Good graphics.

Cons: The HDMI port is not communicating correctly with the recently purchased ASUS VS229H-P monitor's HDMI port. no video or sound. I have had to resort to just using the VGA connector.

Other Thoughts: Disappointing having a top speed PC and a High quality monitor and having to resort to using VGA connector (old technology) . Also the keyboard is black with grey lettering (impossible to see in low lighting).

5 out of 5 eggsOff to a good start (See Note about 2TB HDD)

Pros: NOTE - Regarding the 2TB HDD: My machine came with a PARTITIONED Hard Drive. So, there is a 2TB HDD, as advertised, but since it's partitioned it will have both a C and D drive.
Core i7
Windows7 64-bit
Massive HDD
6 USB's
I'm just setting it up - but so far so good.

Cons: 1) Fairly basic keyboard with lightly painted keys instead of brighter white painting. Is harder to see the keys at certain angles.
2) No DVI plug, just a VGA plug.

Other Thoughts: At a cost of under $700, this is the fastest Win7 machine I found on any website.

2 out of 5 eggsFast, but not professional

Pros: Fast, extra HDD slot, PCIe and PCI slots for expansion, two spare SATA ports.

Cons: Media card reader would not handle Compact Flash. Slot it's in is too short for a replacement reader.
No PCIe power for updated Video card - must rely on slot power.

Other Thoughts: Going to return the unit. It sat at my son's house for a couple months before I could spend the time to get my data moved over. I would up being very disappointed with the look, the lousy media reader, and the mediocre expandability.
I'm a professional Photographer, so the right look and equipment is critical.

1 out of 5 eggsNewegg really dropped the ball on this one

Pros: Would be a decent value if they shipped what was advertised

Cons: In my previous review of this product, I stated that they shipped the product with a 1TB HDD when 2TB was advertised. I realized this after cleaning out all of the crapware, loading up my apps, songs, docs from previous computer etc.. Literally days of work.
Newegg says ship it back so I had to remove/uninstall everything, wipe the drive, pack it all up and return it. I'm still waiting for the credit.
Meanwhile, I re-ordered the identical product (2TB HDD) and an extra 8GB memory stick. Guess what? They shipped another 1TB HDD. I am very upset with newegg on this one

Other Thoughts: Don't they QA these things before leaving the shop? The CSR who helped with my RMA called ASUS and confirmed that it's a 2TB HDD. How do you do this twice?
Since my credit for the first PC has not come through, I'll be disputing the charge with my CC company. Will likely do the same for this 2nd PC.

Manufacturer Response:
